“It does what it says on the tin”

Pleased with the hotel. Clean and tidy room. Excellent restaurant and very pleasant and helpful staff. Once you get within 1000 yards of the hotel, it's more difficult to find than it should be. Memo to management - put a couple of signs up. Would stay again.

“Should have got there sooner...”

We have used this hotel before - and the Campanile chain many, many times. We arrived (pre-booked) about 9pm and went straight into the restaurant (service till 10pm). We were disappointed to find - no plat du jour left ('we've sold them all..') - no glass to hold a large beer ('we've used them all...') - no cheese ('only desserts left') I know it's hardly critical stuff, but have you ever heard of a French restaurant with no CHEESE? The reason given seemed to be the large-ish party of other British tourists who got there first! As I said, it's not show-stopping but reminded us of the 'old' France, where to get anything you had to know the tricks. Won't stop us using Campanile, though, or even this hotel.

“Taxi!”

The only real problem with this hotel was it's remoteness from the City Centre if you are without a car. Taxi's don't exist in any meaningful way in Arras - a lovely city with a marvellous square and good nightlife - which means that if you're not mobile you have to eat in the hotel. Taxi into town was 23 euros, and the return leg didn't exist. Lesson learned. Arras is good for visiting WW1 sites - the reason we visited. The food and service in the hotel are good and very reasonable. Room was clean and good value. All in all great if you're mobile.
