“Ahhhh Paris”
Hotel was very very nice. The staff at the 24 hour desk were extremely cordial and helpful. The room was bigger then I expected not a shoe box like average European hotels. The bed was very comfortable, our room's view was very nice, the bathroom was roomy with very nice modern fixtures. Metro line#4 was right around the corner, buses there as well. Neighborhood was very nice for any meal, and the bakeries in the morning, mmmmmmm. Would go back tomorrow!
“Wonderful memories”
We were very happy with this hotel. Location is excellent. Nearby Metro station takes you to both airports (we arrived from Orly, left to CDG), to 3 other lines across the city. The surrounding area couldn't be better. Since it is where local people live you will find amazing coffee shops and restaurants (our fav Rendezvous), McDonalds (french style), and local shops for clothing and shoes (much cheaper than downtown). Hotel stuff is excellent. First time we were invited for a short overview of the city map after check-in. Receptionist showed us how to get where we needed and always was very helpful with all kind of advises. Room was cleaned every day. We would agree that things are not new there, but they are clean, no dust. In fact, hotel is so charming because of this vintage feel, that we liked it more than some cold new hotels we stayed before. After the stories of stealing from hotels, we appreciated that safe was available in our room. We recommend this hotel to friends.
“We really enjoyed my staying in the hotel.”
The hotel has a very nice location with lovely restaurants and stores. The room is pretty small but clean. The air conditioner is not the best; it works like fan and doesn't cool the air. Everybody was very nice and helpful. It is located10 minutes from the train station, from where you can go to the airport without any traffic. If we go to Paris we will stay there again.
“Charming older hotel”
This is a charming older hotel located in a pretty good neighborhood within easy reach of metro and buses (1-2 blocks). Slightly worn, but comfortable with pleasing decor. I prefer staying in a boutique style hotel which reflects the country I am visiting, but keep in mind that in many European cities, this means small rooms. For Americans expecting a/c like our own, this is not the case, but honestly, Paris is generally not hot and it is not needed. Also was very disappointed in the hair dryer. I would definitely bring my own if you want heat and fan power (don't forget a converter). Staff was very helpful and available 24/7. They offered us a deal on the breakfast of 9 euro/day if committed to it and paid in advance for our whole stay. I think it was worth it to be able to get breakfast with reasonable variety of offerings without going on a hunt for it. It is a time-saver if you want to maximize your time available for sight-seeing. You can get more than one cup of coffee at this price which is not the case in a cafe. That alone makes it a deal. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to a friend with the caveats of not expecting american a/c and also to not rely on their hairdryer.
“Would stay here again”
If you want a fantastic hotel experience then this may not be the hotel for you. If however, you want a fantastic base for exploring Paris then stay at the Villa Montparnasse. We stayed there for 3 nights and would definitely go back. It's a stone's throw away from Denfert-Rochereau Station which connects straight to CDG Airport, and only one train needed to get to the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral... When we checked in, the concierge was extremely helpful, giving us a map of the area and highlighting some of the places we could visit. The weather was amazing while we were there, so the room did get rather hot, but we switched the heating off, the windows can open and although as previous reviewers have stated, the traffic can be quite noisy, if you can sleep through it, great, if not, just invest in a pair of ear plugs. We had breakfast there on the last day, and it was a great selection of both hot and cold food at a reasonable price for a buffet breakfast. If you have a few hours spare, we would definitely recommend visiting the Cimetiere du Montparnasse which is just across the road...
“Not a 4 Star!”
We did not mind the location although from the reviews most had stated that it was easy to get to most location! On the Metro yes, walking not so much! For the money I could have found a bettter location; That was not the problem the qualty of the lobby and hotel was not quite what I would have expected from the photos and ratings! A little run down, beds not so good. The staff was not all as friendly or happy matbe to be there! One told us the breakfast was included and as we checked out an other said no! very confusing. Was good ,but not for $20? US dollars. Oh well! Good Luck
“very good hotel will use again”
what a great motel in a beautiful city love to go back an stay longer 1 week is not enough time in paris
“Nice hotel but very noisy.”
The hotel and ensuite were very nice and the bed was huge. There was a safe in the wardrobe and a mini bar. This hotel is quite a bit away from Montparnasse though. The Denfert Rochereau area was very pleasant and the local people very friendly. We particularly liked a restaurant in Rue Daguerre which had food from Ile de Reunion... Creole based food. We always had breakfast in Dore also on Rue Daguerre...cost about 7 Euros for two of us. Just tea and a brioche or croissant. Then it was usually off to the Metro which is very close by. We also liked Indiana opposite the Metro at Denfert Rochereau where you can have just a starter if you want..Nachos Indiana was very large and cost about 7 Euros. Most main courses wherever you ate were about 13 euros. Indiana was a good place to watch people, mainly Parisiens, and was always busy and lively. Unfortunately the room in which we stayed was right over a corner brasserie and the noise of knocking and scraping (unidentified) kept us from falling asleep and also woke us up at 2-3am. Luckily this brasserie shut over the weekend so we had some peace from that. There was also quite a bit of street noise from constant traffic and a few drunks passing by. Although the street in which the hotel is situated is quiet enough there is a parallel very busy street. The air conditioning was very noisy too. On the positive side there was a lovely balcony from which you could see Tour Montparnasse and Tour Eiffel. We WERE charged City Tax.
“Would go back in a heartbeat!! It was GREAT!!”
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel was located in the perfect spot, a block away from the Metro with a lovely stroll through the neighborhood market street. There were always fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese, bread and seafood to smell and purchase to take with you for a snack. There were also 5 or so cafe/bistros nearby to dine and a great little sushi place around the corner. The hotel breakfast bar is superb! For lunch or dinner we frequented the corner bistro, right next door to the hotel, where they served delicious food and offered suggestions if you didn't know what to choose. The catacombes and the Montparnasse Cemetery are the closest tourist sites if you like that sort of thing. It makes for interesting conversation, that's for sure! All in all it was a wonderful stay in Paris! Reasonable pricing and excellent service. I will recommend Villa Montparnasse to everyone!!!
“Not Impressed”
The hotel was supposed to be 4 star but the room was dated with wallpaper and decore that was peeling and in need of un dating. The sheets were clean but the throw on the bed was stained.
