“Luxury retreat in Paris”

The stay at the Sofitel was everything we had hoped for. Large, luxurious rooms (even by U.S. standards) with very comfortable beds. Spotlessly clean bathrooms with good amenities. The decor is tastefully modern with a flat screen TV, Bose media player, etc. There is a media hub that allows you to play your own content, but we didn't get a chance to try it out. The hotel is located in the La Defense business district, which is not downtown, but the Metro-1 line is close by and takes you to most popular locations in 10 mins or so without a transfer (Louvre, Notre Dame, Marais, etc.). We stayed 3 nights over a weekend, which is peaceful without the business activity, but a nearby shopping mall offers the only local services outside of the hotel. The RER-C has a stop nearby, which made it convenient for trips to/from the CDG airport. We will definitely visit again.

“Paris's best kept secret.”

Fantastic hotel set a little out of central Paris but well worth the journey for the great service and luxury experienced. Well worth the 20 mins train ride and walk from Chatelet station in town. Looking forward to our next stay.

Nearest station to the hotel is the La Defens, De Esplanade station. 2 min walk door to door.

“A good choice for business or pleasure”

The hotel staff and very helpful. They go above and beyond to ensure satisfaction. The hotel is a nice hotel -- not five stars by U.S. standards but a good solid 4 star. The location is great -- only five minutes to the metro. There are cafes close to eat breakfast which is convenient and nice. There is also a large mall within walking distance. The area is very modern and houses the business district within Paris. There are great large pieces of art decorating the very large plaza of business buildings. You will not be disappointed with this hotel and location when visiting Paris.

“Just visited in August”

We chose the Sofitel based on reviews and price and were not disappointed. La Defense neighborhood is a business area that is quiet and modern- very different from the rest of the city. It was a short 2 minute walk to the metro and is on the #1 line into the center of the city with many of the stops we needed. When we needed a different line it was easy transferring to another. We didn't eat at the hotel because we felt the prices were too high and it was easy getting food at a cafe near many of the stops on the metro in between museum visits etc.

“Terrible hotel for leisure travel”

Staff couldntt get air condition to work in our room after three attempts; staff didn't know how to make an outbound call so we could call the airline; wait staff in the bar and restaurant are painfully slow; wouldn't serve a Grey Goose martini insisted we select another gin bc they needed to use up other brands;

“Paris - the modern one”

We stayed at Sofitel La Defense Paris for 3 nights in July 2011on our vacation. The hotel location is safe and convenient with the metro access just nearby and we could get to the city center in about 7-10 mins;but its very quiet on the weekends. We had views of the Arc de Triumph and the Eiffel Tower from the Esplanade nearby. There is a huge mall nearby where we spent time on a rainy day.The front desk staff was friendly and courteous but the room service was average not very timely. Its better suited for business than leisure. However I think we would had enjoyed our stay more if the weather was pleasant - it was a cold, wet & windy weekend in Paris :-( but we still made the most of our trip :-)

“Great hotel, worht compromising on location”

Had a really lovely long weekend in Paris staying at the Sofitel. Very nice hotel and one the M1 Metro line so easy to get into centre of Paris. Not much going on around the hotel at weekends but that wasn't really a problem.
