“Great stay but..”
Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We were surprised however at how small the so called "family room" was. We nevertheless we were happy with the staff and cleanliness. Very convenient location close to train and subway.
“Too hot to sleep”
The front desk staff was very kind although when we weren't able to sleep well due to the heat, and after turning off all temperature controls at their suggestion, they said they would send maintenance to look. Later in the day when we asked if someone had, they were very vague about it. Regardless, we did not sleep well even one night as it was so hot. We had to leave the window open which made for lots of noise from the street. The hotel has a written policy that if we aren't satisfied and they can't fix it, we won't pay. every morning, we discussed the heat. Every day they suggested something that didn't change anything. The last night (of 4) they offered to move us but we were completely unpacked and exhausted so we declined. They did give us one night to stay in the future which we might use if the time is unlimited. But we did have to pay......so much for the written policy. The room was comfortable for 3 people and the bathrooms were clean and well equipped. On our second day there, we came back from sightseeing at 3 pm and the room wasn't cleaned so we had to call the desk. At that point someone came quickly and cleaned while we sat in the hallway. It's really hard to do so much sight seeing without good sleep so we won't stay again and no, we wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
“Family in Paris”
A good hotel to stay in. Modern and staff helpful. Absolutely no problem. We had to open to window though because the aircon didn't seem to work (or I couldn't figure it out). But that wasnt going to wreck our holiday.
“Family Friendly Clean Hotel in Paris”
OK, its not in the centre of Paris, but you can see the Eiffel Tower, esp at night when it's lit up. The rooms are compact but very clean, and good shower, shame about the cardboard cups for making tea/coffee, but the mini-fridge did have free bottled water, which was appreciated after a hard day of sightseeing. They really put alot of effort into entertaining the children at breakfast time, and had a wide range of breakfast foods, but was disappointed with the scrambled eggs (yellow gooey), and we didn't get any sausages on the 2nd morning. Rooms were quiet and smoke-free. Childs' sofa bed was a good size, but my child thought the duvet was 'scratchy'.
“Excellent family hotel”
Very pleased with the Novotel Paris Gare Montparnasse. It is very easy to get to on the metro from Paris Gare du Nord since there is a direct line although you will encounter some stairs in the metro. The surrounding area is not great but the communications are fab - there are direct metro lines pretty much everywhere (Champs Elysee, Notre Dame, Montmartre, St German de Pres). The hotel breakfast was fantastic and catered for all tastes - children, adults and grand parents. The only slight issue was the waiting time to get a table. Clearly the break fast room is way to small compared to the size of the hotel. The rooms were large and light with coffee/tea facilities and complementary water so no need to find a convenience store and it allows you to prepare formula milk for the little ones. The bedding was a little to much on the synthetic side which wasn't great for sleeping. If there was one thing I would recommend that the hotel invests in to become perfect, it would be proper bedding - cotton please! In other words, well worth it for families and we would definitely stay there again.
“Good enough”
The room is actually small but I'm told fairly good size for Paris standard. If it was for 2 adults, it's good enough but if you are a family and have kids, it is quite compressed. Also, other than the hotel restaurant, your choice of good restaurants is about a 10 minute walk so if you have little ones, it can be a good walk for them. But compared to the prices of the other hotels, this was good enough for us.
“Solid 4-star”
Great, clean, spacious hotel (especially for the price) . . . only drawback is that it is (relatively, for Paris) a bit of a walk to the metro - you have to walk through or around the regional train terminal to get to the metro terminal. Overall, I would go back.
“Very comfortable, modern, excellent service”
The staff was excellent, very helpful and courteous. The hotel is in a nice area, a little south of all of the tourist destinations by about a half-mile. Easy walk to train station and several Metro stops. The lobby and rooms are very nice, plenty of room compared to the older hotels. No question, we'd stay there again. Best overall Novotel I've stayed in France.
“Good location, Great Food, Most Expensive Pay for View Films”
Location Great location being 5 min walk from Pasteur Metro and a few stops to Eiffel Tower or Musee D'Orsay for example. Food I don't know if it was because of the journey we had but the hotel food for Dinner was excellent. I don't mean French ala carte - just basic stuff done very very well and good value too for Paris. Breakfast was also highly rated by my family and worth it at 16 Euros per adult with a kids free promotion when we went in August 2011. Rooms Very clean but being a business hotel - not particularly large and soulless. Standard rooms do have a pull out bed settee but when in use it left virtually no floor space. I am glad we had two rooms for two adults and 2 children. My one and only complaint is that the pay per view TV/Film selection was limited and although I have used some very very expensive hotels, this hotel was the most expensive at 13 Euros per film.
“in the middle”
first of all, this hotel, for me is not a 4 star, it is a very nice, clean, modern hotel, not alot of charactor, but, the staff are very friendly, helpfu land speak very good english, we did not try any of the food or breakfast,as it was a little expensive,i choose this hotel because of comments on the postion,(near to all attractions) well for me and my 12 year old this was to far away from those attractions, but a metro is not to far away, and we used this to get around, its in the business district, which is ok, its an ok sort of hotel, the room was ok the bathroom ok, not sure i would stop there again, just because its just a little to far out, loads of places to eat, second time to paris and its still an expensive place to shop ,eat and drink,
