“Good value family hotel in convenient location”
We stayed as a family (2 adults, 2 children) at Novotel Gare de Lyon and were very happy with our choice. The room isn't big with both sofabeds extended but that was fine for sleeping and we closed them up once out of bed so the room was then perfectly adequate. We even had a small view of the station and beyond to the top of Eiffel tower! The hotel is pretty well located and the area had lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from. We would head out during the day to see the sights, which were easily accessed via the Metro or RER from GdL and then come back at around 5 or 6pm for a swim in the small but quite nice pool, which the kids loved and it gave us time to re-energise before going out for dinner locally. We had a good guide book that took us to some good restaurants in the area. L'Encrier was nice. We ordered the wrong thing at the Morroccan restaurant we went to not far from L'Encrier the next night (Tagine was much too meaty and no cous cous!) Hotel reception staff were ok - not too efficient, but breakfast was good with lots of efficient service. Kids eat breakfast for free if parents eat so that made 16euros for breakfast more palatable. I would recommend the hotel: It was cheaper than lots of others much closer to the centre of Paris but was easy to travel to and from. We had a fun w/e.
“Not going back”
We stayed as family and they put us in a end room 255 and it is horrible. Carpet is old and messy and house keeping does not even do a good job with vaccum. The bathroom is like a mobile unit and blocks to the middle of the room. Horrible experience with the stay.
“Not impressed!”
Cramped room-had to put luggage in the bath as there was no floor space once the beds were assembled! We'd booked a family room-it would have been cramped for 2 people, let alone 4! All in all we found the room to be oppressive and wouldn't return!
“A high standard hotel for the Novotel Brand”
This was a suprise. Location was great - Gard de Lyon is literally next door. A good varierty of resturants and cafes in close proximity to the hotel. Definetly above average standard for the Novotel Brand. Nicely positioned between CDC and Orley Airports if you are transiting through Paris.
“Paris Was Great”
I stayed at the Novotel Paris Gare De Lyon in mid-August 15, 2011 as the final portion of a trip across France and Belgium with my son. The area adjacent to the hotel was what someone would expect being next to a major urban train station; safe but definitely not picturesque. Once inside, however, I was very satisfied with the quality of the room, attention by the staff and the overall hotel experience. I purchased the breakfast package and was not disappointed; the breakfast buffet was excellent. I selected this hotel because it was very close to the drop off location for my Europcar rental car and convenient to many of the Paris areas of interest (such as , the Louvre, the Latin Quarter and Notre Dame which were generally, within a 15 to 30 minute walk. In addition, Metro stations were located nearby and the nearby Gare de Lyon train station is well serviced by taxis. I would stay at this hotel again.
“Can't wait to go back”
Clean, friendly staff. Opposite Gare de Lyon so easy to get around Paris from here. Bus travel easy from here too.
“Excellent location”
I went to Paris with my parents and chose this hotel because is by the station Gare de Lyon, which was very helpful since we had the idea about using the train and metro to move around. The hotel is clean and the service is really good. None of us speak French, but I would say that anyone speaks English in Paris and people were really nice to us even when they knew just a little bit of English. My parents and I loved the hotel breakfast. The room is small, but it didn't bother us because we were out all day long and used it only for showering and sleeping. It had a kettle and hair dryer as it says in the description of the rooms. Everything worked well in the room. There was a queen size bed for my parents and I slept on the couch, which I could open in two "separeted" single beds, but used one side as a bed and left the other one as a seat. There are several good restaurants around the hotel, I would recommend a "creperia" that is located on rue de Lyon and a Japanese restaurant next to the Bastille square. The hotel is also close to a Carrefour store and that's really good because one can go there and buy some snacks for a "good price". However, it's Paris, so almost nothing is cheap. We had lunch inside the Louvre and the Versailles Palace, both times were expensive; however, the meal is really more expensive inside the Louvre. It's a great city, easy to go around using the metro and train lines. I hope everyone enjoy it as much as we did.
“Great value !!!”
Great location and excellent amenities. The pool was really popular with our 6 year old. There is a late night bar with simple and tasty meal options. The buffet breakfast was also very nice.
“Great Choice for Families”
We had a great two days in Paris at the Novetel Hotel. The breakfast was great and they had a lady painting children's faces and keeping them entertained while the parents enjoyed their espresso or cappucino. The swimming pool was a really nice touch when returning from a busy day of sight seeing. Location was ideal because it was a two minute walk to the Subway (Metro) station. We will be returning to this hotel in the future.
“Great Hotel in central Paris, have been several times now, recommended”
We really love this hotel, so modern and clean, good value for money......surrounding area has lots of bars and brasseries all good value for money. Being on the No 1 metro line it makes getting around Paris so easy. Would not book anywhere else as this has everything we need, Great and well worth the money......
