“A mostly positive experience”
The room size is decent by European standards but our bathroom was very small. It took some gymnastics to sit on the commode. The bed was very hard. The staff gave us a mattress pad which helped somewhat. The staff was incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The location is terrific, very close to the big attractions. And at the risk of sounding "touristy," there is a Starbucks 50 yards away from the hotel which means you can get a good breakfast at a reasonable price, a major plus in a city as expensive as Paris. You won't blow your budget before 9 AM. With the deal we got from Expedia, I would rate this as a mostly positive experience.
“Great Location - room decent - Very Paris...”
Was in Paris for 4 nights at start of Aug 2011. Was last leg of two week holiday starting in Rome. Arrived at hotel and got checked in. We had our packs on still so we didn't really have a lot of patience for what the front desk lady was telling me. Although she was being very helpful and spoke English very well, I didn't listen to much of what she told me about tours/upgrading room/internet etc... lol. got into room and it was exactly what we expected. small and boutiqu-ie... lol. Room was clean, but washroom was cramped a little. That was probably our only minor complaint about the hotel!!! Was in a great location only a couple min to Arc de Triumph/Champs Eleyse... right at a subway stop (subway system in Paris is awesome and super easy) and only probably 15 min walk to Eiffel tower. The food in Paris was to die for. On route to the Eiffel tower there is a grocery store which during our whole trip we found super handy. Grab cheap beer/wine, chips, snacks etc. One day we stopped grabbed a bunch of food and had a picnic which was one of our best times we had in Paris. The lines and amount of people in Paris is crazy so you can pre-purchase tix for Eiffel tower online day prior to going it really helps! Again, didn't expect much from hotel but was pleased with what we got. Don't know how many days I could spend in Paris though. lol
“Would definitely go back.”
The whole journey was lovely. the hotel was lovely and not far from anything we needed.
“Lovely French Hotel Away from Tourist Traps”
The hotel is lovely. Standard rooms have a very hard mattress; on check-in upgraded to room that has newer & a bit softer, still very firm though, plus large beautiful bathroom with tub. The upgrade had free Internet but not wifi. Excellent service. I've stayed in an apt in the area for years so know & love the area; I put a relative up at the hotel this time and was very happy with the upgrade.
“I would like to go back next time when I am in Paris”
The hotel is good value, I like the Melia group, I tend to book Melia group hotel whenever I am travelling, my past experience in Melia Sitges and Melia Milan are very impressive
“Hotel Melia Alexander”
The only bad thing about the hotel was that even though I didn't put the card on the bed (indicating it was fine to leave the bedding alone) they wtill didn't wash/replace the bedding. It's fine since it was just me, but it made me wonder if they changed the sheets between guests (ewww)...
“Nice stay”
Lovely hotel. Staff helpful and polite. Great location. Nice bedroom with one big bed made of two single beds side by side (standard room) (quite hard though but we slept like babies anyhow). So, we may choose indeed not to book another hotel next time we are in Paris (Etoile/Trocadero area) !
“co9mfortable hotel with good location in paris”
PLEASED WITH HOTEL. STAFF MADE IT VERY COMFORTABLE. BREAKFAST WAS IMPRESSIVE. GOOD LOCATION IN PARIS.
“enjoyable stay”
very good hotel, staff very helpful, they helped with things to see and do and how to get there, very good english, the lifts are small ,just enough for two,as we were on the second floor this was not a problem, this hotel as six floors, but saying this, it was a very good stay, room a nice size, bathroom very nice as well, breakfast was 28 euros we did not try the breakfast,so many places around to get a cheaper one, good location, 10 mins max to eiffel tower, maybe 12 min to the arc de trompe and shops, cafe s paris is the most expensive city i have been too so be prepared
“Good value”
