“Great hotel in weird area”
If you need to stay in the Pigalle area - not the most salubrious part of Paris - then give this hotel a try. I've stayed there twice in the past 2 or 3 years (2nd visit November 2011) and I haven't been disappointed. The welcome is friendly, the hotel is safe and quiet despite its location on a main road in a red-light area, and the rooms are comfortably furnished in a minimalist, quirky style inspired by the well-known poster for the 19th-century Montmartre cabaret, "Le Chat Noir". The bathroom is clean and modern, and the shower is powerful. I had the breakfast this time, and it was fresh and tasty and not bad value either. The staff remembered who I was and which room I was in, which doesn't often happen in Paris. It's 2 minutes' walk from Blanche metro, 5 mins from Pigalle metro and across the road from the bus to the Gare du Nord (for Eurostar travellers). Highly recommended.
“Perfect for exploring Montmarte”
The Hotel is exactly what I was looking for in a budget hotel. It was clean and comfortable and I didn't feel like I was paying for extras I wasn't using. The room was small, and only had the essentials - but did have a wall mounted TV with CNN for news. The bed was really comfortable. The room had big windows which open fully to get some fresh air (although the hotel is on a noisy street the double glazing is great for keeping out the noise). The bathroom was tiny, but perfectly formed, just a shower, but it was really good. The hotel will offer you a breakfast for 10 euros each day but we didn't take them up on this offer. There are so many gorgeous boulangeries and patisseries nearby, where you can pick up a croissant or bars where you can soak up the Parisien atmosphere that it seems a shame to stay in the very functional hotel shared area. The hotel is on the main "red light" boulevard. But the area is very similar to soho in London, quite a sanitised version of a red light district, I'm sure if you're looking for sleaze you can find it, but walking down the street you just see a lot of neon and corny souvenirs - nothing that would shock. And the hotel is perfectly placed to discover Montmatre, The blvd de Clichy is parallel to the lovely Rue Des Abesses where there are lots of lovely bars restaurants and shops to discover on the way to Sacre Coeur.
“Excellent 3 star hotel”
This is a small hotel, literally two minutes walk from Blanche Metro. Rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean. Nice towels and bedding. A mirror near to the plug and seat would be better for drying hair etc, and tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be a major bonus. There is no fridge. Continental breakfast expensive, but we were offered it at a lesser rate if we took it everday. Plenty of breads, croissants, fruit salad, cereal, yoghurt, toast, cheese, ham and boiled eggs, and as much tea and coffee as you want. Cheapest we saw at nearby cafe was only a couple of euros cheaper, so it is reasonable value at the lower rate.. Staff very friendly and helpful. Central location means that it can be quite noisy if you like to sleep with the window open, but it didnt bother us. Overall, very good value for a budget hotel.
“Great location,”
Although the hotel entrance is next to a strip club, inside it's tasteful and relaxed. Our room was a triple, with a double bed and a second (large) single bed, and had plenty of space. The bathroom was spacious although it's very much a BATH room - the shower seems like something of a last minute addition. The buffet breakfast was great, and was good value considering the location - we would have spent much more to eat similarly in a local café. There's a lot to do nearby (though it's not all family-friendly...) and there's a Metro station a few metres from the front door for easy travel around Paris.
“Central location in the middle of Montmartre.”
Easy walking distance to The Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur Cathedral and pick-up point for the Petit Train of Montmartre that takes passengers on a round tour of Montmartre (saves walking up all those steps to the Sacre Coeur). Staff were friendly helpful and english speaking with 24-hour reception. Don't be put off by the surrounding sex shops and live sex shows - it is Montmartre after all. We took a deluxe room on the 5th floor which was well worth the extra euros and reasonably quiet. A small fridge in the room would have been handy. The Petit dejeuner (breakfast) was substantial and enjoyable and when we were there the hotel offered a discount if breakfast was booked at the time of check-in.
“A great little hotel”
This hotel is great. The location is excellent. However it is important to note it is slap bang in the middle of the red light district so if you are offended by stuff like that then it isn't the hotel for you. The hotel itself inside is spotless and the reception desk helpful. The aircon was working and kept the room cool. You couldn't have the windows open because of the noise but having aircon meant we didn't need to anyway. There was a bit of noise early morning which we think was staff moving tables around whilst preparing for breakfast but it wasn't a huge issue. All in all top marks and reasonably priced. Don't bother getting the breakfast. We went to various cafes locally and got a pastry and coffee for a 3rd of the price.
“not impressed”
They had a problem with the air/con and booked us into another hotel outwith the area we wished to stay. They did have us transported there by taxi and claimed it was a more expensive hotel but this was not the case. There was nothing wrong with the replacement hotel but it still was a disappointment.
“Cool but loud”
This was definitively one of the coolest European hotels we stayed in. Cute cat theme. Each room I think had its own theme. Rooms were spacious for European standards and the bathroom was HUGE, like a suite and a big tub. The size of the bathroom was as big as some of the European hotel rooms we stayed in. Our biggest complaint was that the AC was broken during our stay, which required us to open the windows in our room. The only problem was that the neighborhood, being in Montemart, was VERY noisy with surrouding clubs, pubs, etc. So needless to say, our sleep was not very sound.
“Good value, colorful area”
It's in the red-light district in Montmartre, down the street from the Moulin Rouge and next to the Museum of Eroticism. There are many peep shows and sex shops, and a hooker was posted at the entry to the hotel most of the time. (She's not allowed in.) If that doesn't bother you, this is a very nice, very clean hotel, rooms are small but well-maintained, breakfast buffet (not included) is very good, with morning newsletter in English and other languages, and the location is excellent, Metro across the street. Hotel was full of apparently sophisticated travelers from many countries. Very lively at all hours (ask for a room on an upper floor or you'll hear lots of street noise). Staff very friendly and efficient. Free internet in room and community computer in dining room. Closet space is limited, no dressers or drawers at all, room safe awkwardly located on the floor. Not far to walk to Galeries Lafayette, the Opera, Louvre, Sacre Coeur, etc. Several excellent restaurants in the area also, as well as some clothing stores that are among the cheaper ones in tres expensive Paris. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.
“Very Impressed, will return”
Excellent hotel in the Pigalle District, only a few steps away from Moulin Rouge. The room, service and breakfast were great. It was only a short walk to the Sacre Coeur and positioned close to two metro centres where you could get to any part of Paris. On our first day we walked from the hotel to the Louvre due to a metro strike which wasnt too far if you like walking. Dont be surprised by the Pigalle district there are sex shops and shows down the main street all around the Moulin Rouge but there are some good bars (including Irish!) and restaurants just off the main st and at the Place de Clichy. There is a great bar next door to the hotel too Le Chat Noir with live music on weekend nights. It's a busy nightlife area but once in the room you didnt hear a thing and you feel safe. Definately the best hotel if you going to Moulin Rouge. Also had a great powerful shower. Will return.
