“Living the Dream!”
Great little hotel, staff are really friendly, and also speak pretty good english which is a bonus! There was loads of useful and helpful information in the reception plus advice from the staff gave us ideas of where to go! Area around the hotel is nice but very quiet - alot of restaurants/bakeries as mentioned which is convenient. HOWEVER!!..the best thing about this place is the metro stop that is literally a stones throw from the hotel. 5mins from your room into cenrtal paris. AMAZING! Really conveneient and made the trip a whole load easier than having to wait for buses/pay for taxi's. Room is pretty small but all you need really! Our room had an en-suite but the shower didnt have a hook on the wall so it was back to old school hand held shower but wasn't that muc of an issue at all!...quite fuuny actually! Would definaltey recommend and would use again if we were to return!!
“Well placed and quiet hotel”
I stayed here because it was near Montparnasse and the shuttle bus to Orly (I later discovered that the Orlyval shuttle which connects direct to the RER at Antony is a better bet for connections from Gare du Nord or CDG). The hotel is NOT on Montparnasse, but is in Rue de Plaisance. It is very close to the Pernety Metro station in an area of good bistros and other restaurants and is an easy walk up to Montparnasse. The people there were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was not included in the price I paid and seemed initially expensive, but there was a very good range of food available and it would have been hard to find something similar outside.
“Excellent location... Excellent hotel.”
Fantastic location, just next to metro station. Lovely bars and restaurants, bakeries within walking distance (just outside hotel actually). Staff could not have been more helpful. They were excellent. Highly recommened.
“Great Hotel”
My partner & I were extremely satisfied with this hotel. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was clean. We had booked a standard room for 6 nights and they upgraded us to a superior room for the same price when one became available which was the 2nd night of our stay. The location is a little way out of the main centre of Paris but there are lots of interesting restaurants, boulangeries, cafes etc where you can eat. The metro is situated directly opposite the hotel which is excellent after a day walking around the city. We hired the city bikes on one day to cycle in to the city centre and it only took about 15 mins from the bike pick up point which is just outside the Pernety metro station. My only slight criticism is that the dining room at breakfast time was rather small and cramped for the amount of potential guests. Breakfast was good and you can have as much as you want from a selection of cereal, fruit, cold meats & cheese, croissants etc. The usual continetal fare.
“would go back”
hotel was very nice and very near to the subway which you can go anywhere from, a couple of nice places to eat nearby. would stay there again.
“Ideal For Short Stay In Paris”
Chose this hotel on strength of other reviews here & wasn't disappointed. After 2 flights & a journey from CDG via RER & Metro, I was delighted to see the hotel immediately opposite Pernety Metro station. As others have stated, everything you need for your trip, Bakery, Fruit, Wine, Toiletries, Post Office etc, are all less than 5 minutes walk away. The local Restaurants & Bars are great too. I would stay here again in an instant.
“Bon Voyage”
We arrived at Le 55 Montparnasse after an easy metro journey from Gare du Nord, where we came by Eurostar. The hotel is just across the road from Pernety tube station. We were welcomed by a friendly lady at the reception who asked us to wait for our room..wasn't too long and it was worth it! The room was in the attic, very clean and spacious (new, big bathroom as well!),two windows with gorgeous views of the streets below. The area is very quiet and french, with a few boulangeries and typical bistros, epecially Au Metro just opposite the station (very nice food but expensive). We really enjoyed our two nights in this hotel and it was very good value for money!! I'm already recommended it to my friends. Vive Paris.
“Would go back to this hotel”
Lovely hotel, close to Metro station (literally opposite the hotel) The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean and beds very comfortable My husband and I would use this hotel again if we go back to Paris. We didn't use the breakfast service as this was 10 euros a pop, so good alternative is the bakery on the side of the hotel. The area where this hotel is has lots of places to eat and drink. As said before we couldn't fault this hotel one bit and would use it again.
“A Pleasant Surprise”
The hotel is just a few strides away from Penerty Metro. The main street has a businesslike air with lots of small shops, bars and places to eat, a comfortable rather than prosperous neighbourhood. Room 201 has two windows and over looks a quiet side street. We immediately liked the room which was light and cosy. We had three comfortable nights. The breakfasts were impressive. There was a wide selection of food for most tastes including (to my surprise, this being France) a hot plate with eggs, bacon and sausage - French style rather than roadside cafe - all at a very reasonable price when compared tothe cost of a coffee and croissant breakfast in the local bars. This has been our first visit to Paris and we had been anxious about our choice, aware that Paris Hotel rooms can be small, noisy and joyless but for the price, and as an off-hand draw, this hotel exceeded our expectations.
“Best Hotel in Paris!!!”
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and could not fault a thing. The hotel staff were very friendly and warmed to us even more when we tried to use French whenever possible! The hotel is a stones throw away from the Pernety Metro station. From there you can get the metro to Montparnasse which has links to most of the other metro lines. We used the metro for our stay and it was excellent. The room has been described as small but I think this is overly harsh. The room is an excellent base and very comfortable. The bathroom has a bath and an over bath shower which was slightly difficult to use but not a major problem.
