We’d stay there again!
Service was exceptional. Right near a Metro line. There was construction ongoing, but workers stopped at 16h (4pm). The Google map pic is of a closed storefront next to the hotel. It was a ways from the biggest Paris attractions, but we’ve seen those already and chose the location for its nearness to the Montparnasse TGV station.

Enjoyable location and nice breakfast
The staff were helpful and nice. I enjoyed the optional breakfast(at an additional cost); delicious with a nice assortment of bread and croissants, fresh juice, meats, cheese and boiled eggs. The hotel's location was great with convenient access to the Metro. Gare Montparnasse was not a long walk where Le Bus Direct picks up and drops off to CDG or Orly airports. Cute local neighborhood with shops. Room was a bit dated but clean and service was good.

A very comfortable and clean hotel in a great area
La Maison Montparnasse has very friendly and helpful staff - especially Ana. The hotel is located in an area close to the Metro and good restaurants. The breakfasts are delicious as well!

Not good enough for the price!
Tiny room with no wardrobe space. The worst thing was the filthy state of the carpets, both in the room and on the stairs.

Nice, clean place with friendly staff
This was a nice clean place close to Gare Montaparnasse. The room was not big, but it was very clean. Very quiet part of town with a few good restaurants close by. It's about a 2 minute wack from the Parnety metro station in a good neighborhood.

Nice hotel in the South of Paris
Smooth check in. Lovely little area at the back of the hotel where you can sit in the evening and eat a takeaway and drink wine you have purchased at the Monoprix nearby. Staff happily provide plates and glasses. Friendly and informative staff. Plenty of little bistros and other eageries nearby.

Wonderful staff helped to make our stay pleasant.
Because of some confustion on our part, we stayed at this hotel for two nights rather than one as we'd planned. The first night was in a room for three on the side of the hotel facing the street. The room was comfortable and clean, but there was the inevitable noise from the street. The second night we moved to a smaller room for two on the courtyard side. Again the room was comfortable, but much quieter. Next time we stay, we'll ask for a room on the back side of the hotel. For some reason I was unable to connect my laptop computer to the hotel's wifi system, though my wife had no trouble connecting with her smart 'phone. A member of the hotel staff tried to help me with the problem without success. The breakfast was well prepared and comprehensive, the standard offerings we've come to expect at French hotels. Parking is available in a secure garage about 500 meters from the hotel, for a charge of €18 per 24 hours.

Solid choice, good value
Room basic but nicely decorated, clean and bed extremely comfortable. Nice bit of Paris to stay in - lively but not overly so and away from the tourist areas. Didier on the desk was helpful and friendly. Good value and would stay there again.

Basic hotel in a lovely neighbourhood
We stayed for 4 nights here. Staff were friendly but a special mention to Didier the night porter who made us feel like special visitors! Rooms were comfortable but very small. Limited place for possessions (4 hangers, a sideboard with no drawers and 2 side tables with no drawers) meaning all floor space being taken up with suitcases. Tastefully decorated but a little bit hostel-like round the edges. The neighbourhood was lovely with boulangeries and a fantastic cheese shop and charcuterie nearby. Also some lovely bistros within 2 minute walk, perfect for evening meals. A safe and friendly feel to the area.

La Maision in September
Arrived in Paris by train and then caught the metro to the Hotel which took a few line changes to get there. Pernety station only 5 min walk from hotel. Very much out of the main tourist areas. We did arrive before check in time but were told our room "might" be ready so we could take our bags up and check. As other people have mentioned, lift only goes between floors so always steps to take. Nite good for someone with poor mobility, fortunately not an issued for us. Our room wasn't ready and still had all the rubbish in it, dirty towels etc front previous guest. Personally I found this really off putting to see this, would have just preferred to be told room wasn't ready and have the hotel hold our bags for us. Tiny room and the smallest bathroom I have ever seen however we didn't go to Paris to spend time in the room so we didn't mind the size. Feels very old and outdated. Paris accommodation is expensive generally however we feel this hotel was over priced for the quality of the rooms. We didn't have breakfast at hotel, bakery around corner was fabulous and all we needed. If we go back to Paris again we would prefer to stay somewhere a bit closer to main areas and a little more modern. Staff were pleasant.

Hotel is adequate. Very small room but very clean. Better than similar hotels I've used. Warning: the hotel is a considerable walk from the gare and the tour Montparnasse and it's a little difficult to find. Several people I stopped and asked (in French)for directions didn't know where it is.

Good neighbourhood, exceptional staff
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were extremely helpful with restaurant suggestions, Metro tips, and confirming airline seats. The breakfast is a bit expensive but a good, full buffet. The biggest issues are with noise (as with a lot of European hotels): not a lot of soundproofing between rooms, and if you open the windows for air circulation you hear the inevitable scooters in the street. But overall a good experience.

Amazing cosy hotel in centre of Paris!
I have recently got back from a short city break with my girlfriend, and we stayed in this lovely hotel for three nights. I would recommend it for those that wish to be in a cosy hotel, in a quiet location in the heart of Paris! We loved our stay and the area of Montparnasse was so much better than we expected it to be with great bistros/brasseries and boulangeries. The metro stop was close by and the Seine river (around San Michel) was under an hour on foot, so pretty decent. The service was outstanding, great reception, particularly Monsieur Didier, who we made good friends with, and is a really friendly chap! We had a great stay, probably only negative remarks would be the tiny lift and slightly overpriced breakfast rate, but having looked at what they prepared, it looked pretty good to be honest! Overall we were extremely satisfied, and will definitely be going back!

This was a great choice for me.
I wanted to stay in a Parisian neighborhood. I was at cafes with locals for my meals, watched the moms with their prams and couples walking hand in hand. It was perfect to get a sense of the community. 2 metro stations within easy walking distance and several good restaurants within 10 minute walks. According to a local the hotel was cleaner and better than one twice the price near to Notre Dame. Only complaint..the last evening it was staffed by someone who could not check me out so my departure was delayed the next morning until 7 am when the next staff person arrived.

A great option
The hotel is beautiful, very clean and the staff is most friendly and capable. The special attention to the colourful decoration makes the stay even more pleasant. One can come and go at any time in the night because there is always someone watching the door (and also offering tea or coffee). An elevator was mentioned although we didn't use it. And the croissants in the morning were fresh and crispy. The hotel is reasonable near the city centre, specially if you are willing to use the public transport. Although the area has many bars and restaurants it's not noisy at night. I would definitely come back, specially if we get another discount offer.

Small friendly hotel in very good location
Hotel was lovely and clean, staff friendly and very informative providing suggestions to eating places, where to go and history of france , room comfortable but toilet area very small. Location of hotel was ideal for us with bistros, restaurants, bakers, supermarket and metro station all close by. We walked to the orange tour of the green hop on hop off buses and the joined the green and yellow tours which took us to all the tourist areas that we wanted to see.

Not a bad location
The bed and shower were the two highlights of the room. No air condition, no fan and on a 37° day, the room was quite warm. Made sleeping slightly difficult. A kettle would of been nice to make tea or coffee in the morning! The evening staff seemed to be more bubbly. But overall it was still a great stay.

Charming hotel and staff
A friend and I stayed here during a whirlwind 4 day trip to Paris. The hotel is incredibly cute, colorful and conveniently located to the Pernety metro stop. Added bonus- there are a couple delicious pastry shops on the way to the metro! The highlight of the hotel is the wonderful staff who spoke English very well and have great tips about Paris adventuring. It's definitely worth it to chit chat a bit with the staff if they are not busy! The bathroom was tiny and someone taller than 5'6" may not be able to shut the door all the way without it hitting your knees. There aren't a lot of good restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but it's easy to hop on the metro and head out for a great meal. Overall, highly recommended!

We were very pleased with our choice of Hotel. Although it was a bit far out from the main attractions in Paris, it was very close to the Metro station. So we didn't mind the short walk and then the 15 mins trip into the bars around Notre Dame. The breakfast was very good for 11 euros. You had a good choice of breads, croissants and cheese.

Great location, wonderful staff
The room was wonderfully clean and the hotel had so much character with it's multi-colored staircase and Eiffel Tower key chains on the keys. They have a small lift that definitely helps. The staff speaks English well and were happy to help with anything needed. The 24 hour front desk was also quite nice and added a measure of security. The bathroom and shower were extremely clean and had lots of hot water. The bed was especially comfortable and the free WIFI throughout the hotel was also very much appreciated. It was an especially good value, close to the Metro, in a nice neighborhood.

Charming hotel
Lovely friendly staff with a wide range of languages, very helpful and pointed out a local bakery which did gluten free baguettes. Quirky decor with the pink and orange carpets, following through from staircase to seating to umbrellas-for-hire. Plenty of groceries and delicatessens nearby with a lot of variety, and several bistros etc.

Clean modern hotel in nice area
Comfortable, clean and modern hotel in a good location, quite close to Montparnasse and convenient Metro line to city centre. Also not far from Denfert RER station so easy connections to the airport. Friendly staff, lots of good restaurants nearby (they will recommend some), good breakfast (better than most French hotels and worth paying the extra for) plus plenty of hot water and good pressure. Nice reception area to meet. Rooms are small, but so are all rooms at this price in Paris. I was in a double for single occupancy which made it acceptable. Free wi-fi is a nice touch. Very comfy bed

Great budget hotel
This hotel filled my needs perfectly. It was a few blocks from two different metro stops, there were many restaurants and bakeries nearby, and the staff was very helpful and polite. The room was a little narrow, but this was fine for one person. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a little bit of street noise at night, but closing the dual pane windows quieted things down nicely. The tiny elevator stops between the floors, so you must walk up or down a few steps on a circular stairway to get to your room. On my departure, I found it easiest to send my bag down in the elevator, and walk down the stairs. The garden area was very nice.

Good staff, tiny room. Needs aircon or fan added!
It was nice to stay in a non-touristy area after always staying in Marais. Location meant you had to jump on the metro for at least 15 mins to get anywhere of interest to tourists. Hotel clean. Staff were wonderful. The 1st night was very uncomfortable as they don't have air con or a fan in any of the rooms. We were staying in room 17 which faced the street. The only way to cool the room to make it bearable to sleep was to open the window. It was noisy all night. The street traffic was loud til about 1am - and the delivery trucks & garbage trucks started making noise at about 4am. We were then moved to room 10 which was much better. Slept well for 3 nights. Room didn't face the street so we could have the window open . We also had the warm winter duvet swapped for light bedding. This hotel isn't ideal for warm summer months. It was between 30-34 degrees during our stay in August. The bathroom was tiny & the toilet was unbelievably tiny. We're small people and we could only just close the door. Wifi signal OK in room 10 but was flaky in room 17. We needed to sit on the stairs.

A gem of a hotel.
This little hotel is a real gem! Quirky, cute with a nice vibe and lovely staff. The place is spotless and well cared for. It's set in a good location close to the centre of Paris. Turn right as you come out of the hotel to find some nice little shops and restaurants and the Metro- Penarty, is just up the street which links quickly to Montparnasse and then up to the Eiffel Tower in about 15 minutes. We visited Saint Germain for a nice evening out with cheap set priced menus, and Saint Michel for a livelier atmosphere. It's only a short walk to Notre Dame from there so an extra bonus! This hotel won't disappoint, myself and my two teenage daughters loved it!

Lovely neighborhood hotel
This is a really lovely hotel in a quiet neighborhood. I traveled here on my own in mid- July, 2012 and I felt very safe. Just around the corner, there are some cafes and shops for local residents. This is a good spot if you feel comfortable using the subway. While you are certainly in Paris, the main attractions are too far to reach by walking (in my opinion). The subway system is very user friendly and there is a stop just a couple of blocks from the hotel.

Maison Montparnasse is a cozy and pleasant stay
I admit I hesitated when I saw the two star rating, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The day staff and breakfast were excellent. Wifi was a bit more complex than it needed to be with personalized codes that went bad after a few days. The room was not large but it was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a lively neighborhood between two metro lines. I'd stay there again.

What a lucky choice for me!
I loved my 3-day stay in La Maison Montparnasse. The beauty and convenience of the neighborhood are outstanding, and the charming little hotel is clean and efficient in every way. The staff members were very helpful to me in special ways, and internet access is free on the computer in the small lobby. I found myself located in a neighborhood full of wonderful restaurants, pastry shops, fruit/vegetable markets, and two nearby Metro stations. It was all very easy to get around once I arrived and became acquainted with the neighborhood, and the staff of La Maison were always there to answer questions and give directions when needed. Their breakfast patio is beautiful; I would recommend having your breakfast there because their coffee is good and the foods offered are freshly prepared. My next visit to Paris will most certainly include reservations for this hotel as my #1 choice!

Other reviews mentioned the small rooms so I was mentally prepared but pleasantly surprised when my small double was bigger than I thought. (Although the lift has got to be the smallest lift I've ever been in!) The hotel was clean, bright and cheery. Close to the metro station and well located for getting around Paris. Needing a afternoon nap, it was the kind of place I looked forward to going back to. In addition, it was great and easy being able to borrow a (staff member's!) iphone charger. This 2 star hotel certainly rated over the 3.5 star hotel I stayed in in SIngapore a week later.

Not worth the money
This hotel is not worth the money. It does not have air conditioning, it is so noisy, the staff is rude and the breakfast is overpriced for a croissant and juice.
