I hope this review and picture are helpful. If you are going to paris with accessibility needs, you are in the wrong place so pause, re-think if you are still on time or try to make the most of it with this reservation. The hotel (the area where we stayed you can see is newly refurbished) but that didn't stop from not being able to bring a stroller to the room with the lift. The lift is so small that even if we are not "big size people" me and my wife and the stroller don't fit all together in the lift. You ask for a room step free and the hotel answer is that every room needs steps no matter where. We decided to give it a go and unfortunately never again. We were welcomed with one key room saying "they ran out of electronic keys", it seemed a bit odd but it happens. We then arrived to the room with few steps and stroller and the radiator in the room was not working, heating just at the bottom. We didn't really need it but was very handy to dry baby clothes. We let reception know and their answer was "I need to ask the manager" who will be there in 2 days, guess what? we stayed only 3 days and no one ever looked at it. We then looked at the safety deposit in the room and was clearly locked. When asked to open once again the answer was we need the famous manager, once again no one ever showed up in 3 days. They did offer an alternative solution (I don't call that but here the details) they offered a security box on the ground floor. Thanks but no thanks

Hello Monsieur We are very sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience in our hotel. However it is to be noted that the staff tried to give a solution for every problem you faced. The safe in your room didn't work so we propose you the safes on the ground floor. Your stroller was difficult to bring up your room so we propose you to keep it downstairs in our storage. Moreover, it is in our hotel description that the hotel doesn't have an elevator. Concerning the heater, we apologize because it is working but seemingly the member of the staff you interacted with did not know how to make work. We also apologize because the managing team was indeed not at the hotel for the most part of your stay and none of these issues arrived to me.We hope to be able to change your mind for a next stay in our hotel.Best regards

Too noisy...construction work outside my door!
My room was located on the ground floor. I was woken up at 8am by workers setting up a scaffolding right outside my door... Staff should have warned me of this the night before. I was exhausted from a business trip and could not rest in the morning...

The hotel was few minutes walk to the Gare du Nord train station, restaurants, and grocery stores. The front desk personnel were friendly during our stay and it was open 24hrs. The room was clean, but there was no fridge. The surrounding area was a little sketchy, but we were pleased overall with our stay in the hotel.

This hotel is very bad. potentially unsafe. Some rooms are at a separate building across a court yard at the back. That building was covered in scaffolding that blocked view from the room windows. The stairs are very old, slanting with rough filling patch work done at corners where steps are clearly coming apart. It felt a bit dizzy walking up the stairs as they were so slanted. This hotel looks like an old rough hostel. The rooms have some pink paint on one of the walls to make the room look nice on booking sites like Expedia. But it Is not what they call it ’Happy Culture’ hotel. There was no lift if you hame heavy baggage. And some rooms are on 2nd and 3rd floor with long stairs to climb. The walls in the room were thin so you could hear everything - I heard a couple talking and playing music whole night till 4am. Train taking off at the near station makes the room vibrate. The door to the room had gap around big enough to see corridor security light shining through whole night by the bed. And you could hear people far too well walking down the corridor banging doors in the middle of the night. Breakfast was basic, coffee and tea from an automatic machine. No extra options to order. This Is not just a bad hotel. But potentially unsafe.

Bonjour Madamei'm suprised and chocked about your feedback.our etabllishment is safe and secure.courtyard is our and only our. this a bonus to have it in Paris, and a big chance for quiet and calm. regarding our breakfast is highly appreciated by our guests, as we propose a large number of things to choose from: pastries, fresh fruit (apple, orange), apple compote, fresh cheese, cheeses by the slice (brie, tomme and goat cheese), sausages, tomato beans, orange fruit juice and apple and squeezed oranges as well, three selections of cereals, two selections of baguettes, two selections of sandwich bread, pancakes...about noise of Neighbors, we are here to calm down when they don't respect it. just tell us.and yes, as mentionned by our guests, we are "HAPPYculture revelant. This not a 3 star hotel. I would caution families with children to chose another stay area to stay. The hotel is very old and in bad shape. The staff was very good though, they did help fix some of the issues but they can't control the major stuff.

Not happy about this booking.
There was a renovation going on during our stay which may have caused the AC not to work. It was very hot and the staff tried their best to accommodate, but unfortunately this seemed to be beyond their control. There is only 1 power socket in the room. There is no bar/lounge as hotels.com has advertised. I have been mostly disappointed that after specifically choosing the option to pay at the property on arrival, during booking, that hotels.com decided to share one of my cards on file with Kabanel and they decided to 'authorize' that card for payment. When I called the hotel before arrival, the lady on the phone seemed irritated that I couldn't understand that this was ONLY an authorization and just kept saying 'ok, ok' This 'authorization' is money that you cannot access and I have checked out 11days ago and this authorization is still pending and I haven't been able to have access to this money.

My family and I arrived to the hotel after midnight. We arrived to the hotel & the night staff was wonderful. We were notified that our room was in the back & there are no elevators. The staff member was wonderful and carried all 3 50lbs (23kg) luggage up the stairs. However, it would’ve been difficult for my family to go up & down the stairs. Due to the stairs, we asked staff if we can switch rooms but there was no more space & we would’ve had to wait for the manager at 9am. We did not feel comfortable staying in the hotel. It was being remodeled with scaffolding & stair repairs. We opened around window and saw the scaffolding. We couldn’t even keep the window open bc of the remodeling being done outside the window. There was no lock for the entrance to the 2nd building, it looked broken. A bed in the room was broken & the AC was not working. There was mold in the shower & dust around the room. We immediately rebooked another hotel & left the following hours. Expedia was no help & the hotel did not grant us a refund for the experience we had. I’ve noticed the manager respond to people & I would like to say, coming from a midnight flight, I would hope to arrive to a room that’s ready to go with no broken amenities. That was not the case. We were only in Paris for 3 days & had excursions scheduled. We did not have time to meet nor should these issues have been present when we arrived.

The staff at the hotel was friendly and welcoming. They all spoke English, which was helpful. The hotel was simple but clean. If you are American, think Motel 6 or La Quinta Inn level. The hotel and surrounding area seemed safe. There is no refrigerator or microwave but they had an elevator and the air conditioner worked well. The WiFi was terrible!

We stayed for three nights and we suspected the bedding was not clean properly, we have skin irritations (itching). It was not bed bug but maybe more like dust mites. Decor and furniture was ok for 3 stars hotel, but the main issue was the bathroom tub was so slippery, and set so high with no handle to hold to climb up or down. The glass division between shower/tub and sink was not secured and keep swinging into tub while we showering, so it was double safety issue. Bathroom tile was cracking on the bathroom and door way paint was peeling off. Hallway carpet was really dingy. The only thing good was the AC. It runs very cold but you have to ask reception to turn it on since the control didn’t work. The complimentary water and coffee machine on ground floor with lounge next to reception were nice. The neighborhood was ok, very close to Gare d’Est station which is why we picked this hotel. Nearby patisserie Artisan Boulanger was top notch for butter croissant and baguette.

I would not stay here again. For the price I was disappointed. The hotel is in bad need of a complete renovation. The bathroom tile needs to be re-groutted as there were places where it was molded. Also the bottom of the shower door had mold, and the bathroom door was so warped that it wouldn’t close well. The toilet had a strong sewer stench coming from it. All the furnishings were very dated. Even though it was somewhat clean. The hot water went out from the night until the morning of our checkout and I had to take a cold shower as I had to get up early to wash clothes. I asked for a later checkout so my family wouldn’t have to take cold showers as well, but was only given until 1pm and told we could have free breakfast. The breakfast offering was less than desirable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and that may be the only saving grace. Except for not giving us a later checkout and telling us we needed to “leave the room now” when 1pm came and we still were not ready, I would say they were very kind. There was a nice note welcoming me when I checked in along with macarons. They did allow us to check in early, even though I didn’t ask to check in early and did not expect to check in early. They were also kind enough to hold our luggage for free while we waited to check in and while we waited to leave. But overall this was not a pleasant stay and I will definitely look elsewhere next time. I could have gotten more for my money from hotels in the area.

Amazingly helpful and friendly reception employees. We enjoyed wonderful buffet breakfast every day in the courtyard. Great spacious room with all the amenities. In walking distance to all major sites. Quiet street and great location next to restaurants, market, shops and transportation. We will miss Hotel Kabanel and our stay in Paris.

Very small elevators, A/C regulated by the front desk. I got on the elevator with two suitcases and then had to drag it up 10 stairs because the elevator lets you off between the floors instead of the floor where the rooms are. Very inconvenient for people traveling with big bags. The stairs were uneven.

The hotel was lovely, the staff are great and it’s clean. However, the area did not feel safe at all. This is one of the worst neighbourhoods in Paris, we was never out after dark - there was a group of men hanging at the of the road every night. Tit is 40mins to an hour walk from central sotw

This is not that much of good. Which they are shareing on photos and when we can check in the line was doesn’t work. And housekeeping get in room without my permission. So all over I don’t like they are service

Lovely staff and service, nice area downstairs to hang out plus an interior courtyard. Appreciate the still and sparkling water and coffee provided. Our room was comfortable and mostly quiet for our stay. Wifi signal from our room was patchy, but everything else was pretty good. Walkable neighbourhood, convenient distance from Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est. Would recommend.

No elevator in the back building, so remember to request front bldg. If that is needed. Lack of electricity outlets in rooms. Excellent breakfast for a reasonable price. Very friendly staff.
