Great Location

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Location, friendly staff, and clean rooms. Many positives and only a few negatives with this Hotel.
Cons: The toilet stool was in a really small closet, it did the job but had to open the door to redress. Also just one available electrical outlet.
Location: A great location for the price and within walking distance to most major attractions. Laundry just up the street to wash anything. Many cafes in area
The Hotel Montpensier is in a great location albeit it is aged. The staff was friendly and knowledgable of the area so that was a big positive to someone that knew nothing about the area. Small sidewalk cafes around the area offered many opportunitys to taste the local food. I would recommend eating breakfest at the hotel since hitting a sidewalk cafe will cost much more than the 10 Euro's at the hotel...save your money for a nice evening meal. We purchased the Paris Pass to access the main attractions without standing in long lines plus was able to roam over most of the city via subway...if you get the Paris Pass do the one day Hop-on/Hop-off tour early in your visit to "get the lay of the land".

Really helpful staff. Great location. Quiet and spacious room. Upgraded without extra charge because of length of stay. Highly recommend this hotel. 24 hour reception was a bonus too.

Perfect for the practical minded

Posted 09-Aug-2014
Pros: We liked the price, service, and location of the hotel.
Location: The "square" closest to the hotel has a pharmacy, bank, convenience store where you can buy breakfast and lunch items, and a souvenir shop.
The Montpensier hotel is within easy walking distance of the Louvre and underground access points. Bike rentals are nearby. Our room was small but just enough for a place to sleep, we weren't in Paris to spend time in the room. It was clean and the staff was very helpful with advice and assistance.

Excellent location near Louvre

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: A fan in the restroom would help with the heat
Location: Near the Louvre, many good caf├ęs, and Bus stops including, Big bus main office. On a quiet side street from main square
Comfortable and affordable hotel near Seine and on bus route 48 from Eurorail station, Gare de Nord. Staff was friendly and helpful with all our inquiries.

Perfect hotel for the sightseer

Posted 07-Jul-2014
If you just want a decent, clean, no-frills hotel in a prime location in Paris for your sightseeing trip then this is a very good hotel. Just a short walk to the Louvre and Palais-Royale. The room was much larger than I expected, clean and well kept. Yes the lift is slightly laughable but there's always the stairs and, for this price, it's really nothing to complain about. Will definitely come here again for another trip in the future.

A pleasant experience!

Posted 19-Jun-2014
Pros: Convenience, safety, and staff.
Cons: The flooring in the room could be updated.
Location: This hotel was right next to Commedia Francaise, short walk to the Louvre, Mussee D'Orsay and Mussee L'Orangerie, as well as other sites.
The hotel was very convenient to all museums and other sites. It was safe, clean, and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was pricey but included a croissant, other pastry, pot of jam, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee, so the price was comparable to anything you would get at a cafe, but a lot more food. The room was in need of a little repair, but nothing that was bothersome. Overall, a nice hotel especially if you want to see the museums.

Perfect location, great value for money

Posted 17-Jun-2014
Pros: Clean, has a perfect location, a friendly atmosphere and had basic amenities. Good value for money!
Cons: The hairdryers are not powerful and completely useless. The building work next door woke us up one morning - not ideal when you are on holiday.
Location: Great location, linked well to all transport routes, lots of restaurants and shops nearby! If you are planning to do the tourist sites it is great!
The hotel was located very close to the Louvre and we walked almost everyone on our visit. There are plenty of Metro stops around and we caught the train from the airport to nearby Chatelet Les Halles train station. There is even a boat that stops near the Louvre taking you to local tourist spots. The room itself was very spacious (We were given a 3 bed room on the second floor with a bath and shower) which was quiet most of the time, cleaned daily and had everything we could need. We did not get breakfast so cannot comment. The hotel staff were helpful and all spoke English. There are plenty nice places to eat nearby and a few shops. Our only complaints would be the hairdryer was useless and one morning we were woken up by building work in the room nextdoor! This is an old hotel, please do not expect stylish upmarket hotel when booking. But it is clean, has a perfect location, a friendly atmosphere and had basic amenities.
