“Basic but clean.”
Hotel is basic but clean, breakfast was good, rooms were small but had everything required and the beds were really comfy, staff were friendly and helpful if you needed anything but didn't bother you. We had two small rooms on the bottom floor so didn't need an alarm clock as the breakfast room was near us so were awake each day at seven, but that was no problem as we just had showers and got ready to explore Paris. The hotel is in an area ten minutes walk from Gare du Nord which is fantastic. There is a small park where youth hang around day and night but we didn't find it intimidating at all. This hotel is in an ideal spot for exploring whether on foot or by public transport and I would book it again should I return for another trip.
“Terrible Experience”
Terrible room, no where to put clothes. Dangerous neighborhood
“Will definitely go back if go to Paris again & will recomend to friends”
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful though many of them did not speak very good English they are still willing to help. The rooms though small were cleaned and the beds were made everyday. The breakfast was fresh croisants & bread with coffeetea/hot choc and they did not mind you going for more. The hotel is only a 12 minute walk from Gard de Nord or 2 minutes from metro station Chapelle. I would definitely go back and would recommend this hotel to a friend.
“Revolting”
Tiny filthy room, an overpowering dank musty smell hit you as soon as you opened the door. Carpet, walls, bed linen filthy and squalid. Avoid at all possible costs. Fork out some extra money for a better place, this hotel ruined my trip.
“Not impressed”
The location was the first moment when I realised that I would not like Hotel Meryll. The surrounding area felt unsafe. the room itself was old and shabby with holes in the curtains. The only modern touch to the room, the TV, was actually not working throughout our stay at the hotel. Hotel service was, on average, fairly acceptable- although I did have to go down to reception to request toilet paper as this had not been refilled during our stay, We were on the top floor of the hotel, which meant climbing ridiculous amount of stairs because the lift was too small for both me and my suitcase! My only positive comment about the hotel is that the staff were all friendly and could speak good English. The hotel was also very close to a metro station.
“Hotel Merryl”
Solid, no frills hotel in a multicultural Paris neighborhood where my brother and his family live.
“Scary neighborhood”
I was there for 5 nights. The phone in my room was broken. They kept promissing to fix it. It never got fixed, finally on my last night there the new preson at the front desk came up with a briliant idea to move me to another room. None the less I was not able to communicate with my family. Hotel is conveniently situated to the metro, but it's a "scary" neighborhood. At night you could not have the window open cause kids were throwing rocks into the room from the balcony in the building accross. When I notified the front desk nothing was done about it. The breakfast is very basic, after 5 days it gets pretty mundane. I'm sure that there are better places in Paris to stay at given the fact that they have 1500 hotels in the city.
“Not so Bueno”
The hotel was located close to the Gare du Nord Train station, which is not in a great neighborhood. Also there was no air conditioning and the doorways and halls were extremely tiny. Wouldn't stay here again because it was too far away from what you go to Paris to see.
“It doesn't worth it!”
Although the area doesn't seem safe, but anyway it is quiet there. There are a lot of indian and oriental cuisines. Metro is very close. Easy to reach any destination. Breakfast is so-so: 1 croissant , 1 piece of bread, 1 butter, 1 jam, 1 coffee or tea and that is all(((. Single room is rubbish((: very very small, little bit smelly, carpet is dirty, shower room is combined with toilet and it is extremely small. However, good service, quiet rooms and good location if you use subway. People downstairs are friendly, but not all of them, some of them are so-so.
“Terrible neigbourhood and service.”
I have always travelled on a budget and know what to expect from cheap hotels. This hotel, however is not worth the money you are asked to pay. the rooms themselves are pretty good but the location and service are horrible. When i chose this hotel i though the area should be ok since it is not too far from sacre coeur, but it seemed to me one of the worst districts in all of Paris. Walking to our hotel at night i did not feel safe. To anyone thinking of this hotel, pay a bit more to stay near the centre. Now the service. Breakfast was pretty bad but that was to be expected (basically bread butter and jam). The staff were really rude. THe receptionist said they didn't have maps when 5 minutes later we found a map on the reception desk (bad english? i don't know). At breakfast if you didn't come early there were no tables and nobdy would clean them. you pretty much had to clean it up yourself and bring them the dirty stuff and garbage. If you came early in the morning the serving lady would wash the dishes as loudly as she possibly can non-stop. I realize these are minor complaints but a general impression of this hotel is very unpleasant and location is just plane unsafe. i would not remcomend this hotel to anyone.
