“Great Spot”

While the lower part of Pigalle is still a little rough & ready if you head up the hill you are in a delightful neighborhood of good restaurants, boutique & local shopping and lots of charm. The hotel is in a great location as it's a short way up the hill ( an easy walk from the subway if you arrive by metro) in a quiet street. We booked a comfort room & it was large by French standards and utterly charming. We had a double set of windows the opened to the street & got the afternoon sun but there was double glazing & good air conditioning for sleeping. the bathroom was small but it had a good shower over the bath and a great make- up / shaving mirror. There was an area in the small reception area where you could sit & an outside courtyard. Free wi-fi worked well although the length of the URL meant didn't work for an ipad.( a problem we encountered at a few different hotels). Breakfast wasn't included in the room rate but was very nice, although we ate out most mornings as we like espresso coffee & there were plenty of places locally to sit & watch the world go by! The staff were very helpful, made reservations for us etc& stored our bags on our last day. There was a bathroom available to use to freshen up before heading to the airport. While around Sacre Coeur is very touristy during the day the hotel is a few blocks away so you didn't feel you were right in a tourist spot. We've definitely marked this hotel as one to return to!

Area recommendations
We like Monmartre because of its atmosphere & the restaurants & boutique shopping. It's also on the airport side of the city if you are flying & taking the train to Gare de Nord. Alternatively with a good run you can get to Charles de Gaulle in about 30/40 mins by cab. It's not close to alot of the other tourist sites but if you're comfortable with using the metro it's easy to get around and most other areas can be reached via a choice of two lines ( and a few changes). The scruffiness of Pigalle down the hill didn't bother us, and we felt safe as there were always lot of people around. Further down the hill, the rest of Monmartre is a lovely local neighborhood. We've also stayed in the Marais and St Germain but prefer this area.

“A great choice”

It's always tricky choosing a place to stay in a city like Paris which offers such a range so we read reviews and Le Relais Montmartre stood out from the others. We were not disappointed! We were made very welcome by all the staff and Vincent the manager was charming and helpful. We took the advice of previous guests and chose not to pay the rather high price for breakfast ,deciding instead to try out some of the nearby bars and cafes which served us good coffee and bread, pastries etc. Our room in the hotel was spotlessly clean and spacious (we upgraded ) and was serviced well each day.Our only regret was that we didn't have longer there!

Getting around
For anyone who is fit and enjoys walking then I would recommend doing so! During our 3 day visit we went everywhere on foot and this has to be the best way to really discover the hidden corners of a city. We did treat ourselves to a trip on a Bateau Mouche which was delightful and allowed us to see the sights from a slightly different perspective but otherwise we used leg power only. It's a great way to burn up the calories consumed in the super restaurants!

“Wonderful hotel in Montmartre”

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay in Paris largely because Le Relais Montmartre hotel was perfect for our needs. Our room (#105) overlooked the interior courtyard so had lots of natural light without street noise and was very quiet and comfortable. With WI-FI, a small fridge, adequate floor space and a newly redone bathroom it exceeded expectations formed by reading many other reviews of Paris hotels beforehand. We had daily dealings with the various members of the front desk staff who without fail were kind and supportive of our numerous requests for information (where is a pharmacy, where can I buy an electrical wall plug adapter, where is the nearest supermarket, etc) and for services (cutlery to take on our picnic to Sacre-Coeur Basilica, ordering a taxi to the airport, etc). Within two city blocks of the hotel are Blanche Metro station, Moulin-Rouge showhall, laundro-mats, coffee shops, bakeries, cheese shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, fruit stands, wine shops, butchers, gift shops and a plethora of other outlets that attract a intriquing and amusing stream of locals and tourists alike. While we ventured out by foot and Metro to most of the major tourist attractions in Paris the highlights of our trip were the time spent in and within a few hundred metres of our hotel room and the slightly longer hike up to Sacre-Coeur... merci beaucoup Le Relais Montmartre!

“Great Service”

I had the terrible experience of having my passport, wallet stolen on the Metro on the way to the hotel! The staff could not have been more helpful - showing us where to go for the appropriate assistance, allowing us to make free long distance phonecalls etc. In addition to this the room was quite charming, and the breakfast room, where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast, was quite unusual - in a positive way! We had chosen to stay in the area of the Sacre Coeur, but also close to a Metro station, and on a quiet street, and this was perfect! If we ever get another chance to visit Paris we would stay there again!

Area recommendations
Paris has so many excellent and different neighborhoods it would be difficult to recommend any due to personal preferences. I would certainly not choose to stay in the main centre as the accommodation is so much more expensive.
Getting around
We used the Metro to get around and bought a book of 10 tickets. BEWARE of travelling on the Metro around the Gare Nord!! I had my passport and wallet stolen out of my bag on a very crowded train. Taxis are great when you have your luggage with you - the traffic in Paris is something you will remember!!

“fantastic location”

great little hotel in fab location close to the hub of montmartre with great restaurants etc nearby. 20 minute walk to the Louvre. Rooms not fancy but clean and big enough to swing a cat in! kettle and coffee making facilities would have been even better!

“You need to go there”

We had a great holiday. The hotel and the people who work in it were lovely. They were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in perfect position for a stay at Montmartre. It is arounf the corner from the Moulin Rouge and a short distance, albeit uphill fom the Sacre Coeure. The rooms were clean and very comfortable.

Area recommendations
Montmartre. It is atmospheric, busy, sociable.

“Steady Eddie”

Hotel gives a good steady all round performance and proved to be good value for money. The staff are very friendly and in particular the concierge service was very helpful throughout our stay. Bed was comfortable, pillows could have been better and the room cleanliness would have been spotless had the carpet not suffered a stain just inside the door that had not been dealt with as good as it could have been. So overall yes would go back and would recommend to others.

Area recommendations
Montmartre is a great bohemian district with a great collection of bars and restaurants with much local character.

“Fantastic Relaxing Break”

Hotel Le Relais in Montmartre is a chic, very well presented hotel, just of one of the main streets in Montmartre. It is very central but somehow very quiet! We stayed in a Superior room, which was spacious and very comfortable, and the most comfortable bed we have slept in apart from our own! The staff are friendly and speak excellent english and will help you with taxis, local knowledge etc...etc... You are not rushed in the mornings for room housekeeping, nor rushed out on departure day. You can find lots of restaurants and bars within a five minute walk. We will be booking this hotel again for sure.

Area recommendations
Montmatre district of Paris is the chic, arty distrcit, lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, creperie's etc...etc... you can literally go from one to another and get a good welcome each time. Sit and watch the world go by, whilst you eat and drink the hours away. Visit Place du Tetre but be careful of the street artists, they lure you in! I recommend Cafes Des 2 Moulins in Rue Lepic, which is only 100 yards from the Hotel Le Relais.
