“Modern style friendly service”

Very smart modern style, true to the photos! Well maintained and clean. Nice quality toiletries in bathroom, and reasonably priced (if sparse) mini-bar. Breakfast expensive, for what seemed on offer - we ate elsewhere. Exceptionally helpful and friendly male concierge, although all the staff were friendly and spoke good English. Cab drivers did find it tough to find, once they ha turned into the street so be prepared to tell them where to stop. The hotel provide a decent map to help you get around, but be aware that some of the small neighbourhood streets are not marked, resulting in us getting lost for about 15 mins about 300 yards from the hotel door on the first night! Once in daylight it's easy though.

Getting there
We booked a transfer ahead of time, don't bother though. Hotel Gabriel is just a few stops on Metro line 9 from Gare du Nord and it will only cost a few Euros. Get off at Oberkampf and the hotel is about 2 mins walk max (check it out on a web map service to get the correct route from the station to hotel). Metro is really easy to use to get around, get a block of 10 "carnet" tickets from Republique station up the road from the hotel (there is no ticket machine at the Oberkampf entrance near the hotel).
Dining
We had a fantastic (and fantastically expensive) meal at LeJulesVerne on the Eiffel Tower, which we would really reccomend if you are celebrating something special. We went for dinner and had a great table by the window with amazing views. All the staff welcomed us, by name, and couldn't do enough. You will need to book in advance, which is easily done via the Tower website, there's no need to call as stated on some of the TA reviews. We reserved online a month before on the web from the UK. Also had a good meal in 10 at the bottom of the Crowne Plaza in Republique. Be prepared for frighteningly expensive beer prices almost everywhere in Paris, don't expect the Irish bars to be cheaper, they're not! Happy hours help, but not much. Brilliant microbrewery/pub called O'neil (not Irish) in Rue des Cannettes with all the beer brewed on site and great brasserie food. Highly recommended.
Events and shows
Don't be put off by all the poor reviews of the Moulin Rouge on TA. It was a great show! There are some animals on stage occasionally though so be aware of that. The costumes were brilliant, a great spectacle, yes a few sequins had fallen off, so what? Go with the right mentality to have a great (if camp) night and you will have a great time. We went to the 11.00 show including 1/2 champagne each, which contrary to reviews was a major brand! There is no dinner at the late show. Expect to have to queue outside for AT LEAST 30 mins, we were there 40 mins before the show and got a good seat near the front. Don't look like the idiot we saw asking if your reservation means you can go to the front of the queue, it doesn't. If you turn up 10 mins before the show, you will be at the back, obvious really. The staff were "efficient" but I would not say rude at all, quite friendly actually. We were NOT forced to check coats and neither were any of the guests around us as we went in, yes they asked, but didn't see anyone forced. Asked us if we had cameras, didn't search us though. No one seemed to mind photos being taken after the show as we were leaving. I would recommend dressing up as you will look out of place otherwise. The Metro will be done by the end of the late show, but we got a cab easily at the rank outside Starbucks opposite.

“Highly recommended”

The most remarkable feature is the original, modern design. It is a small hotel, quiet, clean, well located and the service is friendly and efficient. The rooms are fairly small, but comfortable. A good breakfast is provided, but there is no restaurant. There are numerous restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

“Excellent value, welcoming hotel near Canal Saint Martin/Republique”

Rooms are finished to a good standard and well designed. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Wi-fi was free and worked well in my room. Good location not far from Le Maraos and Canal St Martin. I would stay here again/recommend it to others.

“Small rooms but nice layout”

The staff was very friendly which always makes a nice stay for me. The room was pretty small but well laid out to make the most efficient use of the space. If you need a room to hangout in, this would probably not be the best. But I was always out and just in the room for sleeping. The bed was very comfortable for that!

“Great cool hotel”

Great little hotel. Rooms look bigger in the pictures than reality (in what was meant to be a large Executive suite on the 6th floor) – but hey this is Paris! Very comfortable and cool interior. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Really comfortable bed with big pillows. Would def recommend.

“Zen experience”

Stayed 3 nights. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. Would go back there anytime. Excellent location in 11° arrondissement. Very close to rue Oberkampf and its groovy bars and cafés. You can stroll down to Le Marais and then push to Les Halles, etc... (about a 40mn stroll) Pretty cool rooms. Beautifully designed. All whites and soft lighting. Got upgraded to an executive one on arrival. Very quiet rooms, practically soundproof. Groovy bathroom. Best shower, toileries products (environmentally conscious, no parabens, etc.) Nice staff. Breakfast is all organic. Would maybe suggest to expand the variety of fruits offered for breakfast (I had an organic kiwi fruit and an orange). But basically, a most enjoyable experience.

“Great hotel”

We had a great stay at the hotel. It's not actually located in the heart of the Marais but a) it's priced accordingly. b) has great access to public transit and c) is a 15 minute walk from the heart of the Marais. Oh, and the hotel staff was extremely nice/helpful and the bed couldn't have been comfier.
