Friendly Hotel near metro in Montmarte

Posted 20-Jun-2014
Pros: Smart, clean hotel, with friendly receptionists. Well-situated, close to metro, good safe area with lots of facilities.
Cons: Hotel is rather compact, but this is common in Paris. My electronic room key did not work, and I had to get the master key from reception each night.
Location: Rue Ordener in Montmarte is an excellent location. The street is busy, as it is close to the metro station, but not overly so. Montmartre is charming.
Hotel Eden is a smart, modern, but compact hotel in Rue Ordener, a busy street in Montmartre. It is close to the Jules Joffrin metro station, and from there you can take a short trip on line 12 directly down to Place de la Concorde, and all the sights of Paris. The area is excellent, busy and with numerous bars, cafes, and restaurants. The hotel receptionists were friendly and all spoke good English. The buffet breakfast area is by the reception, you can help yourself to cereal, croissants, coffee, etc for 7.5 Euros per day. My room was small, barely bigger than the double bed within it, but the room had French windows (of course) which opened onto busy Rue Ordener. The room had a British-type electrical socket as well as the contintental ones, so no need to buy a travel adaptor. As regards the city, it was my first visit to Paris, and I loved it. It is a sophisticated and mature city, and most things have that touch of French flair and vision which makes it unique.

Nice hotel in convenient location

Posted 04-Jun-2014
Pros: Clean and convenient. Reasonably priced continental breakfast.
Cons: As with most Parisian hotels, it could have better towels and a bigger elevator.
Location: About a twenty minute walk to Sacre Coeur with many good restaurants close by.
Very convenient location within 5 minutes walk to Metro. Lots of stores and restaurants close by. Once in the Metro, one can get to anywhere within the system.

Peaceful hotel for the City!

Posted 21-Apr-2014
Although only rated three stars, we found this hotel met our needs extremely well. Yes, the lift is small, yes the towels are small ..... but the hotel is so clean and we all slept so well in rooms 21 and 22. At the end of the day you need somewhere that you are happy to return to at the end of a busy sightseeing day and this hotel fits the bill. The breakfast was fine for us and a real bonus having coffee, juice and biscuits when you want, we also bought a large bottle of water at reception for 2 euros. Maybe satellite TV would be good, but we didn't spend that much time in the hotel for it to be an issue. Reception were helpful, you maybe need to have a little patience and understanding, they certainly did with our family and our basic knowledge of French. The area is great with the metro being a few metres away, we found an excellent restaurant to the right of the hotel (sorry cant remember the name), no tourists just locals and we ate a magnificent lunch on our first day. Would happily recommend this hotel.

2 night stay

For the price paid, this hotel ticked every box. The location was great - 1 min away from a metro station, the room (at the rear of the hotel) was a good size, very clean - my only slight issue was the quality of towels which were more like tea towels - I'm pleased to say that is my only issue! With most old buildings that weren't originally designed as hotels, you will get certain noises (in this case they included water pipes and the gentle rumble of the metro - not much can be done about that) but none of these disturbed our ability to get a good nights sleep. In regards to attractions, It took no more than a leisurely 10-15 min walk to the sacre coeur which was a bonus. To give some idea of time it takes to get across Paris, the closest metro stop to the hotel (Jules Joffrin) takes 20 minutes to get to the Eiffel Tower (including 1 change). Can't comment on breakfast as not included. Highly recommended for a budget trip.

Great, but breakfast is overpriced

Great hotel. One minute walk from train. Fun neighbourhood. Room is a good size but small by USA standards. Breakfast is overpriced if you don't eat a lot in the morning. However, they will let you store your luggage for free all day if you have a night flight. I'd definitely stay here again.

Good, but not perfect

Posted 05-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was clean and the service was good. Breakfast was good. Several cracks in bathroom porcellain and tiles. Toilet flush button stuck. Very small bathroom. Location excellent for communication, just one minute from the Metro. Some traffic noise. We had no sleep problems, but persons sensitive to noise might have.

Great location for train connections to Normandy

Posted 06-Aug-2013
Pros: Good value for features
Location: Easy access to trains and Metro - opera house walking distance, EZ.
There for the final day of the 100th Tour de France. All went well except for the unfortunate and untimely demise of the AC system, which could not be fixed until after we left (3 days - over a weekend). Temperatures in the high 90s, which made for a high level of discomfort. That stated, the hotel was great (I assume that AC failures are very few and far between).
