“Needs better maintenance”
Worn, spotty carpet. It needs better maintenance - broken soap shelf in shower and sink plug, walls need some patching. But it was clean and inexpensive - was OK for us to stay 4 nights.
“Great basic hotel to meet your needs.”
While not the fanciest, the Eden was in such a great location in Montmartre. A mere 10 minute walk to the Sacre Coeur, a quick walk down the street to the metro, great neighborhood cafes and bars... fantastic ambiance. The service at the hotel was good. Staff was helpful and kind - and understanding about us being there for the first time and not knowing much French. Since we planned to only sleep in our room - not live there - it was great for us. Though we could've done with more electrical outlets. :) Small price to pay though for being in such a lovely city.
“Convinient location”
Very friendly stuff and cozy atmosphere during breakfast. Room is basic and require renovation. A little bit smelly. Our priority was location as we like walking to look around. Overall we are very satisfied.
“No good for young children”
When I booked the hotel I requested a cot as we have a 1 year old. No cot was provided / available, so we had to push the beds together and sleep with the baby in the middle. Breakfast was mediocre, croissant, 2 choices of cereal, bread and plain yogurt was pretty much it. Nothing fresh or cooked, it was straight out of a packet onto a plate. I read other reviews saying the hotel was hot. I cannot stress how hot this hotel was at night, sleeping in such a scorching temperature is virtually impossible. It was March and 8-10'C outside, but this hotel was hotter than when I stayed in Egypt in July. If you have the misfortune of being allocated room 15, you will enjoy the delights of the large waste pipe that runs through the room and services the rest of the hotel's toilets and showers. Every time anyone on the other 4 floors of the hotel flushed a toilet or took a shower it was like a waterfall sound that was loud enough to wake you up in the night. I am not fussy about hotels if they are a bargain, I have stayed in foul youth hostels worldwide, but when you are paying quite a few euros a night, you expect more, even for a 2 star. Other points that spring to mind: The bathroom smelled of stale urine. They put us in a smoking room so we could smell other people's cigarettes all the time. They put us on the first floor which was the only floor not serviced by a lift, so we had to carry the pushchair up and down a spiral staircase several times a day. Good location.
“Friendly service for Paris in the winter..”
Breakfast is good. Hotel is clean and people are very helpful.
“HOTEL OR CRIME SCENE”
Front desk clerk very rude on check in. On another occasion I came to him to ask for directions. I stood right in front of him and said hello. He looked right thru me. He did not even acknowledge me. Another clerk came out of her way to come talk with me when she noticed that he was blantantly ignoring me. Interior: There is a filthy stairway that leads to your room. Walls are filthy and in need of wash and new paint. Carpets drab and need to be changed. Im not kidding when I say this but it reminded me of one of those cop dramas where a dead body is found in the seedy hotel. I know that you come to Paris to see that sites but, you do want to return to a clean place that is somewhat pleasant. One thing this place has going for it is that it is cheap, Sometimes I have noticed that the hotel rate fluctuates. You should really consider paying a few extras bucks for a nicer place to lay your head. Would never use this hotel again.
“Nice hotel in a central location”
Very convenient location on a nice road less than 5 minutes walk from a metro station. The area seems safe. The hotel is efficiently run, with polite, multi-lingual reception staff. My room was small and basic, but very clean and everything worked properly. The hotel is slightly shabby and could do with an update, but the communal areas were nevertheless very clean. Breakfasts were simple but nice. I think this hotel was good value considering its central location.
“Good Price, Easy location, good condicions”
Cheap and clean. Good Breakfast
“Suitable for couple for weekend”
You would eliminate this hotel if you were staying for a week. It is small but perfect if, like us, you don't want to pay for other peoples gym, pool, time spent in room etc etc. We enjoyed Paris to its max due to the ease of getting into town (station very near) enough bars locally to have a drink near to the hotel and compared with our last visit (where we stayed near Gare Du Lyon- on the south side) much friendlier atmosphere, more to see and love - less travelling as the green metro line is well connected. The hotel is on the north side of the hill which makes Montmatre special. However if you are young and fit this is no problem walking up there. If not a couple of stops on the metro does it! We had a shower and a double bed (which other reviews seem to struggle with). Perfect for a romantic weekend. Also if you get the Eurostar - walk from Marcadet-Poissioners. takes 10 mins. I am 32 and speak no french (by the way).
“Four Day Site Seers From Colorado”
On recent, first time visit to Paris we read user reviews on this site and decided this hotel would fit our budget and our desires. We arrived in morning from airport and staff kept our luggage until check in, allowing us to get good start on site seeing. Great location, a block from Metro, could go anywhere, quickly. Lovely, safe, fun neighborhood a short uphill walk to beautiful Sacre Coeur church. Staff was multi-lingual and very helpful. They charted directions to Versailles, dinner recommendations were very good. Room wasn't huge, but was adequate, was clean, and for Paris prices, quite satisfactory. There was a nice, fresh breakfast buffet every morning that was regularly re-stocked. Would certainly stay here again.
