This hotel is managed the nicest and friendlies person, the staff is also friendly, and they try to understand you even if you don't speak French. Lots of great dining, shopping is unbelievable, not even 2 blocks to the Metro. Very walkable area as well.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. Staffs are nice. The only problem is that it’s a bit noisy (due to traffic) at night. I will highly recommend this hotel.

Honestly not that great
The hotel was in a nice and good location but the lobby was small and smelled like smoke. The elevator was very outdated and the single bed room was smaller than a decent sized walk in closet. The bathroom was updated. This would be a 1 star or two star at the maximum rating in the USA.

Dirty and outdated. Carpet was super old and worn out. Staff was not friendly and there is no air conditioning. The fan worked for couple of days then quit. Never recommend it to any one

Decide after you read this
Dry Cobi Eng next to a lot of restaurants and the train station. Unfortunately it doesn’t allow u to eat in ur room or have a trash can in ur room. However they have a trash can in the bathroom. It’s tiny for a room and the lift only fits two ppl at a time or 1 person with suitcase. There is a weighing scale for ur luggage it’s just that it’s a person weight scale. The staff is nice and super helpful so if u need to ask something don’t hesitate to inquire it

This is not a fancy hotel, but considering the excellent location, a great value for the price. The Hotel staff were pleasant and easy to deal with. I would stay here again if I was traveling to Paris.

Cheap hotel close to station
Room quite o.k. considering it was cheap. Bathroom looked new. Bedroom very small but alright for one night only. Not happy about having to pay city tax on checkout...invoice said taxes included.

One time deal, won't come back again
only the location is what I am happy about, the hotel is close to Gare St. Lazare, it is central paris and with many metro lines. But I am not happy about the service and the wifi which I need to pay extra to get. the room has basically no cell phone signal, and the wifi is not free, although they mentioned this in their terms, but still for business, I wont recommend this one at all. Consider the service, the price for the room is not cheap then.

Friendly hotel in convenient location
We stayed 4 nights in the hotel for the Paris Marathon. It is walking distance to Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Concorde & Louvre, as well as being 100m from Gare St Lazarre with metro & buses. The staff couldnot have been more helpful & friendly. Our room was big enough, with comfortable bed, although the pillow was hard. There was a mini bar & a safe. Decor is "tired", but the room was spotlessly clean. Continental breakfast offering bread, croissants, ham, cheese, jam, boiled eggs etc is available at extra cost. This is not the hotel for you if you are looking for luxury, but for the central Paris location it offers excellent value for money & we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again for next year's Marathon.

So much potential
This hotel is in a fantastic location, with very easy access to all public transport, and therefore all of Paris. I booked this one as I was late in my travel arrangements and had somewhat limited choice in accommodation. However, the hotel still has quite an old feel to it, case in point the rooms had keys rather than an electronic swipe, and this had to be left at the front desk when going out for the day. This proved to be somewhat inconvenient as I returned cold and wet, and wanting a change of clothes, and there was no-one at the front desk when I arrived looking for the key (and I was not the only person at the time looking for their room key). Luckily a friend who accompanied me was able to assist in locating someone. The room itself had only 1 window that opened on to a tiny court-yard. The fixtures could have done with an up-grade / modernisation. The bathroom had a bath that was so high I had to climb into it. A shower would have been a better use of the space. I had stayed in similar priced hotels in the area before, which proved unavailable on the dates I had to be in Paris, and they were a bit more modern. I wanted to like the hotel, but I think it really needs an up-grade all over, from bed-linen to rugs to plumbing, even if it is done gradually, room by room, this would really make the hotel stand-out in its' price range. I travel to Paris 3-4 times a year. I would like to think that if I stayed here again, there would be improvements.

Handy location at a "budget" price.
We were locked out of the hotel when we first arrived & had to call the hotel from outside to gain entry. The reception was unattended and the room maid who let us in could hardly speak any English. We were given a tired old room, with a full length door onto the balcony which looked like it has been forced in as it wasn't closing properly. Given that & that the room was right next to a fire escape we didn't feel secure and asked to change the room. We had to wait 10-15minutes until the "Director" (owner?) arrived who changed our room to a better (renovated) room on the 1st floor without any argument, which was very kind of him. Not sure if we will stay at this hotel again.

Maybe look elsewhere..
The location is handy for public transport, a stones throw from Saint Lazare metro. We wanted central to the southerly Eiffel/Notre dame etc, and northerly Moulin Rouge/Sacre Coeur etc. The hotel has boiling, as paris was hot - but no air con unit. The shower head broken so couldnt shower without holding the unit up so it pointed at you. We tried to book a shuttle for the airport. The member of staff took our booking. Then stopped us later to tell us the price he gave us was wrong. Then came to the room to change the deposit he had already taken, as he got that wrong. He then called the room at 5am, to advise us the times we requested couldnt be accommodated, and offer us new times. 5AM!!. On the last day we left our luggage until time to depart, i told them one of my cases was fragile - when i came back it had been moved elsewhere and had something sticking into it - damaging my contents (the other case was fine, but wasnt fragile). All in all, whilst they were pleasant, general incompetence was what struck me

Convinient and good location
The hotel is in a great location and it is close to every thing you need. the price is pretty good compared to other places in Paris. In fact it is good deal. Hotel staff were friendly and if any issue comes up they care. I have to change my room and they did hat without ant additional charges. Overall it is good place and I recommend it.

Convenient and safe for quick transit
Safe and well located Breakfast and internet are not included. Nice and friendly staff. The building and the rooms are old and narrow and just functional. The room with 3 beds was good for a one night stay on our way to somewhere else.

Disappointing quality for a three star hotel
Although the staff is quite nice, we found that the hotel facilities and rooms were in need of serious work. Very old carpets (seemed dirty, but probably just too ragged), old bed blankets, scratched paint everywhere, small towels, tiny room and bathroom. Very hard to get around bed given the cramped spaces. We were so disappointed that we checked out early and went to another hotel which was only 10% more expensive but 100% better. The staff person was surprised when we told them that the reason we were checking out early was the quality of the room - clearly he needs to get out and see other hotels in the area. VERY surprised that this hotel has three stars - barely makes it to two in my book.

We have stayed in this hotel 2 nights and the only word that recalls the hotel is "small".. the rooms , doorway,lift , everything in this hotel is very small. The photos are a bit the contrary of reality.

Hotels.com should be embarrassed to have this hotel associated with their website. I have travelled for years in Europe and this is the worst hotel I have stayed in. Small box of a room no better than a fair hostel.

Very bad experience. Seems like converted the twin room to 3 bedroom. It was very small. The mini bar was not working, Even extra coffee and sugar had to call many times to get it. The reception staff was friendly and he helped us in guiding the places nearby

Nice little hotel
The online pics of this hotel are somewhat misleading. The general feeling is one of being cramped for room ( elevator, staircase, corridors, etc). In fact our room ( for 3 adults) was much smaller than anticipated. Having said that, the hotel was spectacularly clean with very helpful and informative staff. Its location suited us perfectly with easy access to the Metro, Bus Tours and the shopping districts. Our biggest inconvenience was an internet service which was frustratingly unreliable.

Needs to be renovated
First impression was very bad. When they showed us our room they first opened an occupied room. Someone could have been there. When they finally found our room, the carpet floor was so dirty that we did not want to take off our shoes for the whole stay. The toilet paper holder broke to pieces when using it. About 20% of the shower water came through the shower and not just straight through. A black long hair was found in the sheets. If you stay here, go to bed early. If not you will be woken by paint smell or cleaners from 7 am. They even try to enter your room several times in the morning when you are there. When we complained, it seemed like they did not care, and that they were used to complains. They were helpful when we asked for directions, and the area was central. Do not get fooled by the nice renovated entrance.

it was the worst place i have ever,ever seen in my life. I have trqveled a lot and have never seen such an awful place.The embarrassing thing about our stay was we took our daughter there for her 30th birthday. Her bed was a dirty mattress on the floor in a closet. I would not have even let my dog in this room . The pictures were so deceiving. Worst place !!!!!!!!

The desk staff were pleasant, helpful and made every effort to be accommodating. The room, though in clean condition, was extremely small, even by European standards. They were not able to provide a shower chair for one of our party who needs to sit to shower, so she had to make due precariously without one. The most disappointing aspect of this hotel was its run-down condition. The overall appearance could be described as seedy, and we don't understand how it qualifies for 3 stars. There were renovations going on in the lobby and stairwell, the smell of paint, and the elevator did not work on our departure day, which required our carrying all our luggage down the stairs. We could smell cigarette smoke even though smoking was prohibited. With updates and a good makeover, this hotel could be an excellent choice for the visitor to Paris, because of its excellent location.

We chose this hotel because of it close location to train station and in city center. However, we had to let go comfort for three adults sharing a room which is too small. During our stay, the lift (only one) was not working for few days, but it was back to normal before we left the hotel.

Charing Cross Hotel in Paris
I was very satisfied with this hotel; staff was very helpful with directions,calling for taxis and airport shuttles. Another plus was that they spoke English. Hotel itself was a little small (but plenty big enough for me) but very comfortable with a newly updated bathroom. Another plus was that accepted dogs. I'm not planning on going back to France anytime soon but if I was I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Charing Cross Hotel! M. Davy
