“Nice staff, slightly shabby, good location, small rooms”
Not a bad place - interesting decor but quite shabby. Posilbly the smallest lift ever!
“Not for more than one person”
The good: The staff was extremely friendly. The location is convenient to grocery, pharmacy, restaurants, and Paris Metro. The bad: The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom was so small that if you are sitting on the john, your knees are under the sink. The shower did not have a curtain, but rather an 18" door, which doesn't really keep the water in the tub and leaves the rest of the bathroom rather damp. This hotel is rated three stars by the Paris Tourism Board, but would not meet an American standard for three stars unfortunately. Most of the budget hotel chains in the USA offer more comfortable accomodations than what is offered here, and for the price, I expected much more. It's a shame because the hotel is charming and situated in a cool neighborhood, convenient to so many stores, bars and restaurants. A few upgrades could go a long way.
“Worth the money”
You get what you pay for. This is not an expensive hotel but a fairly typical example of the small Paris hotel we have all spent a few happy days in. You mustn't expect luxury or large rooms with sumptuous bathrooms, but the staff were friendly, the room adequate, the plumbing worked properly (shower, not a bath), the breakfast (buffet-style, simple French breakfast, not international: you won't get cheeses and meats) was better than in other places of this kind. It is situated in a vibrant area but is itself in a fairly quiet location. Cafes and restaurants of all kinds to suit different pockets are all around and the magnificent rue de Bretagne with its mixture of exotic shops and restaurants is a stone's throw away. The metro is Filles du Calvaire on line 8 and can hardly be two minutes' walk from the hotel. The reception is open 24/7 and there is free wi-fi in the rooms and in the small lounge. If you feel like walking, you're ten minutes from the place de la Bastille, for example, and it took me forty minutes to walk along the rue de Rivoli as far as the place de la Concorde at a steady pace and without rushing. Go with no preconceptions of grandeur and you won't be disappointed.
“Value for money”
Hotel Beaumarchais was a very brightly painted hotel and the rooms were on the small and dated side. This said they were very clean and the friendlyness and service from the staff was excellent. Try the small bar next door for a night cap if you can.
“Good, Comfortable and Convenient Hotel”
I would definitely stay here again. The Metro is literally right around the corner and there is an ATM between the hotel and the Metro. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Both were a bit small. But, I had not difficulty moving around. The staff was professional and accommodating, although their command of English was less than complete. The hotel provided a daily breakfast that was filling and fresh. The price for the breakfast was ten (10) Euro, which I thought was a bit high. But, that is my only complaint if it can be called a complaint. As one can see from my numerical ratings, my overall experience was quite good.
“Not wildly impressed”
We would certainly recommend the hotel for its convenient location .That said,we found the bedroom cramped and one would have to be a dwarf to fit into the bathroom!!! On entering the premises we also found the chemically sweet smell overbearing. The room, however was clean and the staff reasonably friendly.
“yes, but--”
hotel a little small and poky--getting in and out of the shower demands acrobatics coz bathroom is so tiny--but, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, it's in a paris neighborhood i like a lot--an easy walk in to the marais, but a little out of the way, quiet, not touristy--most pleasant.
“cozy and colorful”
Most hotel rooms in Paris are small, and this hotel is no exception. My room had the tiniest shower known to man. If you are even the slightest bit above average size, you will have trouble with the shower. The hotel is showing signs of wear and tear, too. The pros: English-speaking front desk staff, wireless works pretty well, great location, extremely honest maids (never touched the tip money I left for them each day!), the Italian restaurant up the street called La Divina was FANTASTIC The cons: small elevator barely accommodated me and my suitcase, hallway reeked of gasoline or similar fuel smell, room not deep cleaned, breakfast grossly overpriced and you have to be sure they don't charge you for days that you didn't go to breakfast, safe didn't work well
“this place has seen better days”
Our trip was great overall, but it was not fun to return home at night to a tiny, dingy room in an out of the way neighborhood. I understand that hotel rooms are smaller in paris than what americans are use to, but ours was absolutely tiny. The picture they provide must be of their largest room, except I don't know what that would be since we chose the more expensive double option. The mattresses are old and lumpy, the floors are strangely uneven and there's no water pressure in the shower. Also they claim to be in the marais district, but they're actually in the bastille. The marais is within walking distance. The staff was ok, the night desk clerk was the only one who was genuinely friendly and was willing to give us little extras like champagne glasses. I think this hotel is overpriced based on its condition.
“Typical Paris Budget Hotel”
This Hotel is as I expected it to be. It is a Budget Hotel. Comfortable to a point. Clean and tidy. It had air con and heating. The shower was a bit temperamental and very tiny but did the job. The cafe/bars opposite and very near do breakfasts for less.
