Good Hotel Near Place de la Bastille

Posted 21-Aug-2014
Pros: LOCATION. On the edge of le Marais; near the Metro "Chemin Vert;" and within walking distance of Place de la Bastille, the Pompidou Centre, and more.
Cons: Bigger, softer pillows.
Location: This is the Hotel's great advantage, described above.
The rooms are tiny, but that was expected. The staff is friendly and willing, but not always able to be helpful. There is, for example, a strict policy on check-in time -- never before 3:00 PM. This apparently arises from efficiency, so who can argue? We dozed in the small lobby until our room was available, since we had been on the train since very early in the morning. The hotel is spotless, which must be hard to maintain in such cramped quarters. But again, the cramped quarters are par for the course for reasonably-priced hotels in Paris. Security is reassuring -- noone gets into this hotel without having a staff member open the door. Free Wi-Fi worked just fine. Breakfast was good, although we ate there only once, given that coffee and a croissant can be had very cheaply in Paris. This is a great place from which to explore the fabulous Marais area by walking, and the Metro puts one in touch with all other areas of the city as well. Since our travels don't usually involve much time in a hotel room, this was perfect for us.

Excellent location

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Initially there was a hick up with the booking and I was notified that it was cancelled at the very last minute ! Luckily my friend who had arrived early paid in full and saved the booking just in time. If this was not the case I would have given this hotel full ranking . Staff was very friendly and helpful . Location was perfect for commuting via metro and room was clean . Would stay there again ..

Very nice hotel.

Pros: Excellent, friendly staff.
Cons: Bathroom could use a little work.
Location: Close to metro and great Thursday morning street market. Was walking distance to many locations, cafes and shops.
This was a great location to use as a home base to see Paris.

Nice cosy hotel with super helpful and friendly staff. Great location with a pleasant 5 minute walk to great food / sights and and entertainment. Would definately stay there again when in Paris. Bright rooms that are kept really clean. On sight breakfast is good value (if you eat up big) but there's plenty of places to eat in the area.

A pleasant surprose

To be clear, the place is small: the rooms, the elevator, the lobby. But the rooms are very nicely done, everything is new and clean. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful. The location is excellent. You are 2 blocks from a Metro stop and a short walk to Bastille. We had a great stay and the price was excellent. We'd stay here again

Clean friendly hotel in a pleasant area

Posted 12-Mar-2014
Pros: Clean bright room, helpful staff
Cons: The towels and the addition of tea/coffee making facilities
Location: Good location. Nearby market stalls (maybe just at the weekend?) good shops and lovely park/square close by
This hotel is in a nice part of Paris. It is close to some lovely shops and a beautiful park/square. We were there at the weekend and there was a vast market along a nearby main road. The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful and the room clean and bright. The bed and linen was lovely however the bath towels were a little thin and small. There was a mini bar but no tea/coffee making facilities.

Location ok, room tiny

Posted 03-Mar-2014
Pros: staff was friendly and it was located close to metro and the Bastille, but still a 15 to 20 min walk to Bastille
Cons: room size, hotel bar or just get rid of it, put some pictures on the wall, was too sterile and smelled of paint
Location was good, but not great. Room was tiny, i have even had larger rooms in Tokyo and New York for half the price, with better locations. Barely had room to move around the bed and in the bathroom. Hotel bar is simply a table of bottles of booze in the lobby that you can buy a drink from, and the 24 hour room service was simply meals/snacks they would deliver and you have to microwave it yourself. Definitely not what i considered 3 star, and most definitely NOT quality for the price we paid
