Central location in quiet side street.

Posted 03-Nov-2014
Pros: Very helpful and pleasant staff.
Cons: Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room would have enhanced the offering.
Location: River Seine, Place de la Concorde and shopping around Madeleine all within easy walking distance.
Ideal central location for both designer shopping and main Paris attractions. Easy transport links that enabled access to all the main areas of interest. Rooms small but comfortable (Classic).

Well situated

Posted 25-Oct-2014
Pros: The location.
Cons: The entrance and reception area, the rooms and some of the reception staff.
Location: It is well located in the 8th arrondissement which is good to access both the champs élysées and Haussmann and gallery Lafayette. It is not far from m
We were told that the hotel is going for 5 star under the new owners. Even with new facilities the hotel would not warrant the extra star. The reception area is small with a tackily painted ceiling. Some of the staff are friendly.

Posted 30-Sep-2014
Perfect location but we needed Consistant wifi and it was not available. No water at all during the first day of arrival. Hotel was switching to a different water system?! Yikes. On the last 1 1/2 days no HOT water. Unacceptable

Long weekend in Paris:

Posted 17-Jun-2014
Pros: Central location and the friendly helpful concierges.
Cons: According to the tall dark haired lady at the front desk the Astor considers a double bed to be a queen size. There should be a dresser in every room.
Location: St Augustine church is two blocks away. It was convenient to have a large grocery store 2 blocks away. Ask the concierge for directions
This was our first time in Paris but we have visited many other major european cities. The city was 'as expected' and the highlite of the visit was a dinner cruise aboard the Califfe. The mussee pass is a must because it allows you to walk past the long line-ups. Do not avoid using the METRO. It is the fastest, safest and least expensive way to move around the city and to the airport. However, you may want to avoid the afternoon rush-hour due to the crowding. To understand how the METRO works in Paris go into any station and see the ticket attendant. He/she will be happy to explain it.

Excellent stay in Paris

Posted 11-Jun-2014
The staff at the hotel were excellent and made our stay very enjoyable. The location was close to the Champs Elysee and within a reasonable walking distance from the Eiffel Tower, the Latin Quarter, the Musee d'Orsay, the Louvre, etc.
