“Great location, hotel and staff”
Chose this hotel for its location and comfort and were not disappointed with either. Great location - one street away from the Sorbonne. Quality room and great bed! Staff were very helpful indeed - couldn't do enough to help us. Not the cheepest hotel in Paris but if you want comfort, quality and a great location then choose Grand Hotel St Michel
“Adequate but nothing special”
The room was typically small for Paris. It was clean and reasonably well appointed. However it was supposed to be their deluxe double room. The A/C did not work which made the room stuffy and we had trouble sleeping in the bed which needed a new mattress. We were moved to another similar room and had the same issue with the bed and A/C in this room as well. This hotel is in an excellent area for a tourist stay but is not worth the rack rate. Their are many other hotels in the same area and we will try one of these on our next trip. Front desk was helpful with local information but was unable to resolve our room issues.
“Great experience”
I chose this hotel based largely on the reviews I read and I was quite happy w/ my choice. The room was a good size w/ a desk and chair and ottoman. I was pleasantly surprised as I've been in hotel rooms in New York City that were smaller so it was a good size for Europe. It was within walking distance of the Lourve, the Sorbonne, Notre Dame, the Museum of Modern Art and several other attractions. Several metro stations were also near. I was on the 3rd flr and the room looked out onto Rue Cujas. The only small criticism I have is that the hotel does not provide wash cloths so be sure to pack your own and on the weekend there was a bit of noise so you may want to ask for a room on the higher floors.
“Nice hotel with a great location.”
Over all we were satisfied with the hotel. On the weekend it was a bit noisy outside as a pub is located at the end of the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotels location is terrific, close to restaurants, the Metro and Luxemburg Gardens.
“This is no better than a 2 star hotel.”
When we saw the rating of 4 stars, with "Grand Hotel" in the name and an Expedia recommendation, we had some high expectations. Forget it! While it is in a good location and has a good view from the 5th floor balcony, it is just a dismal, cheaply decorated place. It has none of the character and style of other, less expensive 3 stars. You will want to escape from your room as soon as possible each day , and will surely feel depressed to come back to it, after you've spent an amazing day out and about in Paris. Do some research and find something better.
“Could not have been happier!”
The hotel was everything I wanted and more. The location was fantastic, the room was spacious and very clean. There was large mirrors and a DVD player great extras for sure. The staff were lovely and very helpful! I would without a doubt go back to this hotel in the future I had the best time.
“Great stay at Grand Hotel Saint Michel - modern, yet romantic.”
Great stay in a modern and extremely clean and fresh hotel. Rooms are average size, but very cleverly accommodated. Very comfy bed (including the best pull-out bed I've ever experienced) and super clean and modern shower rooms. Extra bonus was to have the bathroom and the toilet in separate rooms, considering that three adults were staying in the room.
“Good Quality”
GHSM is a good quality hotel situated near the Sorbonne and the Pantheon. Just a short walk from the nearest Metro at Luxembourg, it was also easy to get to from the Orly airport using the OrlyBus. Unfortunately, the hot water failed on the morning of our departure throughout the hotel which left us with cold showers to be had. Although the staff were very helpful and apologetic, there was no consideration of any compensation or a discount on the room price. Hot water is a basic expectation for a hotel stay and, sadly, we were let down by this hotel on this occasion. We would however choose to stay there again.
“Good Choice”
Great neighborhood, very comfortable and best of all, on a quiet street so sleeping was possible - a first for me in Paris! Very pleasant staff - hotel has a fitness center which was not mentioned in the description.
“Nice little hotel, but no real fitness room”
This is a nice little hotel. The rooms are tiny, but very modern and clean. And they have all the expected features, like a safe in the room and a work desk. Wireless internet is free, but neither me nor another guest could get it to work; they do have wired internet and that worked great using my 802.3 cable. Daily breakfast is terrific; but not included in the room price. Main drawback is that despite its statement, this hotel does *NOT* have a usable FITNESS ROOM and HAMMAM. The "fitness room" is a tiny closet with 3 exercise bikes and a flat-screen tv. You have to ask for them to unlock it for you. They apparently included it as a check-off to say they have a fitness room; not to allow you to, say, have a real workout. There isn't even room to stretch. They should not be advertising a fitness room. The "hammam" (Turkish bath) is also tiny and has no visible steam/sauna controls or plumbing. It's just a tiny little room with blue tiles.
