Nice hotel close to train station

Posted 25-May-2015
Pros: close to train station and subway and lots of things to see nearby.
Cons: room temperature could not be controlled. A couple staff members were rude. We asked to be close to our friend's room and he said "We are not disney
Very small but clean and comfortable room walking distance from train station. Staff could have been a little less rude but a satisfactory hotel with a good location.

Noisy

Posted 14-May-2015
I clearly heard, someone snoring all the night, as if he/she had been in the same room. Also, someone knocking on the next door as if he/she had been calling me (so many times). And the steps upstairs. The noise from the main road wasn't that bad as it went much better at night. The cleanliness and the amenities were satisfactory. I can't complain considering the rate for this location (less than 5 min walk to Gare du Nord) but I will look for another for the next time.

Location, location location

Posted 14-May-2015
This hotel is very well located an easy 5 minute walk pulling luggage from Gare du Nord from where the Eurostar and direct trains to Charles de Gaulle airport leave. The room was basic but adequate. The main snag is the lack of air conditioning which would mean very stuffy and airless accomodation in warm weather. The street below is very busy and noisy but well insulated from the hubbub below by super thick double glazing until you have to open the window to let in air. The rooms have a safe and TV but no fridge. Midday checkout time seemed generous. Overall this was a good value option.

Perfekt für Bahnfahrer

Pros: Lage, "großes" Bad
Liegt in der unmittelbaren Gare du Nord - für Pariser Standard mehr als ordentlich.

Nice hotel close to Gare du Nord

Posted 18-Apr-2015
Pros: Proximity to Gare du Nord, friendly staff who can speak english, clean hotel.
Location: Close to Gare du Nord - we easily walked with our luggage. Montmartre close by.
We had a triple room (myself and two daughters) and although it was small it was perfectly adequate. We were on the fifth floor and there was a little balcony which was lovely. There was a safe in the room, tea and coffee etc. We came back every evening to a nicely freshened-up room and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious - and the coffee was the best we had all trip. If you want spaciousness this is not the hotel for you, but for handiness to the Gare du Nord (without being too close and noisy) and comfort, this is a gem of a hotel. It is on the fairly busy Rue de Magenta so you can hear the traffic but we felt safe coming and going as there were always plenty of people about. As well as traditional French places to eat there is nice Pizza and a Macdonalds close by. Highly recommended.

not great but not bad

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: the location which was near to many bars restaurants and cafes. I also liked the friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff.
Cons: the corridor floors and décor badly need a makeover. it could look a really nice hotel if they invested in this.
Location: plenty of places to eat and drink through the day and at night. the gare du nord station is a short walk away if you were moving on to otherparts of
the single room was very small but cosy. my mother had the only single room on the ground floor due to her mobility problems. it was suitable for disabled or infirm people but could be a bit intimidating as its in a busy part of the hotel.

just right

Pros: Location- close to the metro and train stations. Staff- speaking good English, friendly and helpful.
Cons: breakfast was a bit pricey so I didn't use this service
As long as you go in expecting a 3* hotel then you won't be disappointed. Avalon is exactly that, nothing more, nothing less. Staff very friendly and helpful with good English, rooms very clean, great location and luggage storage free of charge. All good, recommend for short business/city trips.
