Nice hotel close to Gare du Nord

Posted 18-Apr-2015
Pros: Proximity to Gare du Nord, friendly staff who can speak english, clean hotel.
Location: Close to Gare du Nord - we easily walked with our luggage. Montmartre close by.
We had a triple room (myself and two daughters) and although it was small it was perfectly adequate. We were on the fifth floor and there was a little balcony which was lovely. There was a safe in the room, tea and coffee etc. We came back every evening to a nicely freshened-up room and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious - and the coffee was the best we had all trip. If you want spaciousness this is not the hotel for you, but for handiness to the Gare du Nord (without being too close and noisy) and comfort, this is a gem of a hotel. It is on the fairly busy Rue de Magenta so you can hear the traffic but we felt safe coming and going as there were always plenty of people about. As well as traditional French places to eat there is nice Pizza and a Macdonalds close by. Highly recommended.

not great but not bad

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: the location which was near to many bars restaurants and cafes. I also liked the friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff.
Cons: the corridor floors and décor badly need a makeover. it could look a really nice hotel if they invested in this.
Location: plenty of places to eat and drink through the day and at night. the gare du nord station is a short walk away if you were moving on to otherparts of
the single room was very small but cosy. my mother had the only single room on the ground floor due to her mobility problems. it was suitable for disabled or infirm people but could be a bit intimidating as its in a busy part of the hotel.

just right

Pros: Location- close to the metro and train stations. Staff- speaking good English, friendly and helpful.
Cons: breakfast was a bit pricey so I didn't use this service
As long as you go in expecting a 3* hotel then you won't be disappointed. Avalon is exactly that, nothing more, nothing less. Staff very friendly and helpful with good English, rooms very clean, great location and luggage storage free of charge. All good, recommend for short business/city trips.

Very average

They don't have room service, the room was different from what it looked like in the picture. Though not bad. We were given room on the sixth floor but lift is only till the fifth, we were constantly disturbed by maintenance staff who would enter our room without any prior permission by us. No tea and coffee maker in the room. All in all nothing good to talk about. Location is good near the station

We picked this hotel as it is close to Gare du Nord (within walking distance). Near to halal restaurant, which was great. Clean room, reasonable room size & helpful staff. Definitely would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Ideaal hotel.

We spend one night in this hotel, it's close to Gare du Nord and many bars, restaurants, shop around. Metro and bus are very close as well. You can go to Monmartre by walking. The room was clean and big. the staff is friendly.
