The Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort has 195 air-conditioned guestrooms, studios and apartments. Guestrooms are located in a four-storey hotel building, and have light Mediterranean decor with white walls, vibrant blue bedspreads, pastel-coloured curtains, pale blue carpets and simple impressionist prints. Sliding glass doors lead onto balconies with pool or garden views. Amenities include satellite TV, hairdryers, and bathrooms with shower/tub combinations. Towels sculpted into swans and hearts are laid out on the beds to welcome guests.

Studios and apartments are located in 14 small buildings throughout the resort of no more than three storeys (no elevator). Decor is more modern, with wooden floors and light wood furnishings. Additional amenities include dining tables and chairs, and fully-equipped kitchenettes with microwaves.

“Avoid this hotel”

This resort is truly appalling. We stayed here three years ago and it was ok - but not any more..... There were cockroaches in the kitchen and bedrooms The furniture was shabby The shower leaked all over the floor and the toilet didn't flush properly The walls were crumbling and the decor was terribly faded The bins were collected at 5am - every day..... And last but not least, our room was burgled just before we left on the final day. Need I say more? Don't go here unless you want to stay at Faulty Towers...

“Cyprus hotel - a little tired but manageable”

We received friendly, helpful greetings from the front desk. Our bathroom sink was stopped up but was taken care of promptly when I notified the front desk. Our room size was comfortable and came with a kitchenette. Our double bed turned out to be exactly two beds pushed together and they were in need of new mattresses. I now realize that this hotel caters to mostly UK tourists who stay the winter season in Cyprus. We ate one meal in the hotel restaurant; food was plentiful and very good. There was no daily room service for cleaning at all. As it was a bit rainy, we did manage to track in some dirt eveytime we went in and out of the premises that was a bit bothersome. There was nothing to do a sweep up with. For the price, we were happy. If you are looking for elegance, it is not.

Area recommendations
This area near the harbor in Paphos is fine and near to restaurants and the tourist sites. Not a complaint there at all. We did have a rental car and toured quite a bit of the island. Note: If you hire a car we also hired a GPS system, it was helpful, but Cyprus has apparently done a lot of new road work which is not programmed into the GPS system. Also had a problem with the one way traffic in some places, wanting us to turn where there was not a turn available. Just be aware.
Dining
We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant across the street from Robin Hood and the oldest Taverna in Paphos demokratias? I believe the name translates into "The Kingfisher" . We paid cash for dinner so I aplogize for not knowing the name of the restaurant. Anyway, it is directly across for the corner shared by Robin Hood and the old Taverna. We dined there the first evening that the owner opened up for the spring/summer season. Charming family and great food. Also had a good meal at the extremely popular Viva Cyprus Restaurant, this one is always busy.
