Lovely Hotel and great location

Posted 26-Feb-2015
Had a lovely time despite the weather. We had booked a superior room with sea view and and could not fault a single thing. The room was great and the food was excellent with plenty to choose from. We had a very relaxing time.

Service second to none

Posted 19-Feb-2015
Pros: The general ambience, very clean entrance and lounges. Vast areas around the pools.
Cons: There is not a lot which can be done about the weather!
Location: An easy stroll to the port where there are enough bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Bus to Paphos available from outside the hotel
The staff are a credit to this hotel management. They give the impression they really do care and when the term 'you are welcome' is used it is truly meant. The management team are introduced to all and are very visible throughout the day, every day. My wife has no choice but to follow a strict gluten free diet. No problem in The Athena Beach. Every day a chef led her along the serveries pointing out 'good, no good'. She ate well! Entertainment is very much geared towards the older clients but, as they are by far in the majority, so it should be. Clearly, The Athena Beach is marketed toward the more mature client, and as am I heading in that direction myself, as indeed we all are, you will not hear me complaining. We will return, not every year, but we most certainly intend returning.

Wonderful hotel on the sea front

Posted 12-Feb-2015
Pros: The friendly and efficient staff. The calm atmosphere in the hotel.
Cons: This is purely a personal comment - I did not like the use of automatic air freshener in the gym. It was inappropriate caused problems for my asthma
Location: Perfect, sea front. Easy walk into town
A very relaxing stay which is exactly what I was looking for. All the staff are so lovely and provide for all your needs.

hotel review

Posted 22-Nov-2014
Pros: friendliness of staff
Cons: rooms need upgrading
Location: location good
for an executive room the housekeeping was very poor as the coffee table in the lounge wasn't cleaned for 3 days and the bin under sink was left for 3 days before emptying in general for the price the rooms could do with decorating

Very relaxing stay .

Posted 12-Nov-2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close enough to the harbour for a pleasant walk. Shame about the litter that is everywhere!
Although a large hotel it never felt crowded or too busy. Exceptionally clean in every area. Huge choice of excellent food at every meal. Staff well trained and attentive. After five visits I am looking forward to my next stay. As a solo visitor I was made to feel very welcome by all those I came into contact with.

Good location for beach and amenities

Posted 05-Nov-2014
Pros: Cleanliness, friendly staff , very polite. Good central location.
Cons: Please allow free wifi for guests. It's free in all the local restaurants and bars!
Location: Nicks water sports was an enjoyable morning for two teenage sons , jet skiing and parasailing was very good. Also hired bikes in shop opposite hotel.
Just returned from a weeks holiday during half term. Very nice hotel, not too busy or too quiet. Good location to get to pathos harbour by walking or bus. Nice pools and plenty of sun loungers. Lovely breakfast buffet which caters for all tastes. Didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings but lots of choice of restaurants nearby. Reception staff very helpful when my son was ill and needed to see a doctor. Rooms very clean as was the rest of the hotel.

2nd visit this year!

Posted 31-Oct-2014
Pros: There is a gem of a person in the hotel, who is Agatha. She is both English & Cypriot, and was so valuable for providing a wealth of local info.
Location: This hotel is about 15 mins. drive from the airport, walking distance to Paphos harbour, and also has an excellent local bus service.
This hotel is fabulous. It is a lovely welcoming hotel, which is warm and friendly. In my opinion, there is no stone unturned with regards to this fairly large hotel. I first came here with my teenage daughter in August. We only had bed & breakfast, as we like to eat out in different restaurants. Cyprus has excellent restaurants, so there is a vast choice of cuisine serving excellent food. Saying that, the guests on full or half board raved about the hotel food with humungous choice. Our breakfast was certainly a wonderful buffet - almost banquet. The rooms are fairly small, but so, so clean, which in in keeping with everywhere you go in this hotel. The pool area and garden area all have comfy loungers, and the hotel provide guests with lovely beach towels. This is the funny part - hey presto - towels draped over sunbeds around pool by 07.30. There is certainly no need for this, as the pool & garden area has plenty of beds for all. However, it is us Brits who are doing this. Please stop!! The daytime at this hotel, is very tranquil, so great for a total relax. There is a lovely boardwalk from the hotel down to Paphos Harbour. It takes about 25 minutes to walk. For exercise guru's, this also makes for a good run/jog.

25th wedding anniversary

Posted 28-Oct-2014
Can't say enough good things about our stay here in October 2014! Upon arrival we were shown to our room, which we were disappointed with, looking out over the car park, seeing as it was our anniversary we didn't fancy looking out on that! The staff were great in finding us an upgrade, for an extra €90 we got a 3rd floor partial sea view that made all the difference. The staff were very helpful and friendly especially Ugnis, a young man from Lithuania, who looked after us in the lobby bar. Food was excellent, buffet and a la a carte! We had a few strolls into the harbour, about 25mins on foot, and came to the Iimpression that the Athena beach was the best choice for us, from the large grounds, plenty of sunbeds, stunning pool area, seafront location, multiple bars and in easy reach of the harbour we are now planning our next visit to the hotel, we don't usually go back straight away but we will make the Athena an exception! Thanks once again to everyone at the hotel for making our 25th wedding anniversary so special!

This is a very beautiful hotel on the beach

Posted 25-Oct-2014
Pros: Clean Hotel, quiet location.
Cons: Staff
Location: This is a bus stop just outside the hotel and is a very good service as it is every 10 minutes. the hotel in a quiet part of paphos
This is a very nice hotel in a great location if you are looking to relax. We arrived on the 15th of October however on our arrival staff were very rude to us and gave no information on anything in the room or about the hotel i.e safe, Wifi, dinner etc. We were ignored continuously by the staff and when i asked about a room upgrade we were laughed at. when at the bar drinks were slammed down in front of us but not before making us wait 10 minutes at the bar for a drink even though it was not busy. As this went on for 2 days i asked to speak with the Manager, when he came out he was very apologetic for his staff and said he will see if he can get us dinner vouchers as were were only bed and breakfast. When he left he made a snidely remark about how her thought Mummy and Daddy were paying for this as we are 2 young girls. I was absolutely appalled by this comment and burst out crying. I am 26 and my friend is 22 we paid for this on our own so was disgusted by this comment when the manager came back over i advised his that our parents did not pay for this we did and was very angry at his comment to apologies he upgraded our room. If you are young i would not recommend this hotel as the staff do not take you seriously.

great customer service but a little bit dated

Posted 28-Sep-2014
Pros: Beds were extremely comfortable and the air con was quiet so I got a really good nights sleep.
Cons: Cocktails were disappointing, they need to send a member of staff to bar school to make even the most basic cocktails. Breakfast only til 10am!
Location: Good location on the beach, within easy reach of bars and restaurants. Supermarket, bar etc right across the road. Bus stop right outside.
Arrived late at night to find I had been placed in a room on the lower ground floor (rooms beginning with zero) which included an extremely steep incline down a long passageway. I had requested a room near lift as I have problems walking. They told me they had not received my email - but they had not checked for this either. They moved me from the next day to a much more appropriate position. Mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and I had a great nights sleep every night I was there! Breakfast is extensive, possibly too extensive but lacking in some areas. They had all the usual things plus lots of cake, selections of cheeses and other items but I could only find mini croissants, no other pastries. Very strict on time for breakfast and they start clearing at a minute past 10am. I saw several people being turned away. Pool area is nice, they have sun beds around the two pools, on the grass and also on the beach. Plenty of room but still some people found the need to reserve beds with towels and then not appear for hours on end. Pool area was incredibly clean and well kept. Good range of snacks, ice creams and food on offer from the restaurants and snack bars. Some of the beds are a little out of shape and hurt your back when you lie on them, quite a problem for myself with a bad back problem. They need to invest some money in replacing the furniture that is worn out and out dated especially around the pool and the lobby area.
