“Can't wait to go back”
My wife and I previously stayed at the Athena Beach in Sept 2008 on a Thomas Cook package and loved the hotel. We wanted to go again, but we were unhappy with Thomas Cook, and using other operators involved night flights. We then realised using Expedia we could book the Athena Beach hotel plus a Cyprus Airways scheduled flight from Heathrow (much better for us than Gatwick), so we finally returned in Sept 2011. We think the Athena Beach Hotel is wonderful. The standard of the accomodation, food and facilities is very good and the staff can't do enough for you. The hotel is on a very wide beachfront site so there were plenty of sunbeds etc reasonably spread out (although probably would be very busy in school holidays). Other hotels along that coast do not have as much land and seemed more cramped. The pools are lovely, especially the huge main pool which has no "deep end" so keeps nice and warm. There is now a footpath all the way along the coast to Paphos harbour, which is a pleasant walk at cooler times of day. It takes about 25 minutes to go all the way. There is also a good bus service to the harbour every 10 minutes from outside the hotel (1 euro). We were on B&B basis so mostly ate out in the evening. There is a variety of cafes/restaurants opposite the hotel, others within 5-10 minutes walk and lots more at the harbour. We also ate in the hotel which has excellent buffet and Table de Hote options. We loved the Athena Beach and can't wait to go back.
“Very pleasany”
Very pleasant hotel, clean, tidy, easy accessible. Food good.
“Athena Royal Beach Hotel”
Sparklingly clean large hotel with two pools, two restaurants. Helpful mainly Hungarian staff. Food served at buffets good, freshly cooked and varied. The clientele while we were there (late Nov) were evenly divided between British and German and all elderly.
“Happy to recommend. Would go back, no problem”
Fabulous location, beautifully kept gardens and pool, staff polite and helpful without exception. Our room was rather small compared to others in the hotel, with the bedside table fixed in position makng access to the wardrobe really awkward BUT we had a lovely sea view, and the room was clean/ well equipped with small fridge and kettle. Only real complaint is the key system. Only one key per room which was needed to activate power suppy to the room. So if one of us wanted a later night in the bar, the other would be forced to sit in the dark with no TV or AC. Food not very imaginative, but breakfast buffet offered plenty choice. Lots of interesting restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.
“Good place”
This was a perfect hotel to relax in, great facilities, helpful and friendly staff. Food was fair but repetitive. Spa facilities were brilliant!
“Nice Hotel shame about the guests......”
Good standard of hotel, not 4* but definitely a good 3*. Tired (needs a refit) but facilities, staff & food made up for it. Good situation and restaurants locally - 2nd best area in Paphos- see Paphos review. Spoilt by wedding events (3+ a day) and behavior of the wedding parties, who stay at the hotel for the hen & stag parties and the wedding. Bad side of being British. Couldn't recommend the hotel to friends as they would want a quiet holiday, as did we. Sorry Athena Beach.
“Very relaxing”
Will almost certainly return to this peaceful and relaxing location. Lovely gardens and excellent facilities all round, coupled with friendly staff make this an ideal hotel.
“Very nice hotel.”
Ample room around the pools with large grassed are area for sunbathing on comfy loungers.Ample beach towels supplied. Lovely buffett breakfasts. Service excellent and room serviced every day.1 down side was we were charged 59euros for late check-out(an extra 3 hours). Would def go back to this hotel.
