“Mixed bag.”
We went to the Avanti in October half-term 2011 for 7 nights B&B. On the plus side our stay was good value for money as the hotel's good features are:- good kids' entertainment in the evening, nice communal areas indoors & out and helpful staff. Food in the Avanti is ok, not wonderful but there are very good restaurants close by on Poseidon Ave (eg Cavellini, Ficardo, African Restaurant, Meat Academy). The main negative was our family room which was very small for 4 people, the twin beds were seriously uncomfortable and the bunk beds were really wobbly, too short for our 9 yr old and the ladder was unsafe. When we arrived all the mattresses just had sheets directly on top of them (no mattress protectors/waterproof liners for kids etc) and when I complained the hotel put blankets between the sheets and mattresses straight away. The outside pool is large but unheated and was very cold at this time of year. The children much preferred the warmer indoor pool although they commented that this should ideally have been larger as it got busy at times. There's a frequent and cheap bus service from outside the hotel to the main harbour area which means that the hotel's location outside the centre isn't a problem and it makes the local restaurants less busy which is better. We would go back to Paphos again but won't stay in the Avanti Hotel next time.
“very good”
no probles all ok
“OK with reservations.......”
The male reservation attendant was totally disinterested in our arrival at 11pm. No welcome, no guidance, nothing. Check in was easy but the ( 4th floor ) room key did not function. Another visit to the desk obtained a replacement key but did not generate any apology ( or interest ). Breakfast on Sunday morning was grossly understaffed and chaotic but it improved later in the week. Of the four computers provided for guest use, three were continuously unserviceable. The swimming pool was excellent and provided with plenty of good condition loungers. The hotel is convenient for local restaurants, shops and bars. It was quiet and suited our purpose but we would not choose it for a Paphos Holiday.
“Hotel requires modernisation.”
We first saw the Avanti Hotel in 1997 at which time it was fairly new and looked impressive. Some 13 years later (2010) we booked a 10 day holiday on a bed & breakfast basis. Our overall impression was that the hotel required some modernisation and for a 4 star some standards needed to be raised e.g tableclothes on tables at breakfast time/meet & greet hotel rep in breakfast room, plants in communal areas - outside hotel restaurant - needed care and attention; sun loungers around pool needed tidying at end of day. Whilst the personnel on duty were pleasant and helpful It seemed that the hotel was being run on minimal staff and in our room the same pieces of fluff remained on the floor for a few days.
“Would go back.”
Would go back.
“Not 4 star”
The lobby is gorgeous but the rooms are certainly not 4 star. I had read reviews that said the beds were hard - no kidding! Carpet stained, old and outdated decorating. Seafood salad on room service was fantastic. Good location, nice walk to the harbour. Change your money at the bookmakers two blocks towards the harbour - way better rate than the hotel.
“Great hotel! Would definitely stay here again.”
The hotel was just what we were looking for for our short stay in Paphos. The staff were friendly and well organised. The pool was fantastic and there was lots of sunbeds free for most of the day. The room was comfortable and well equiped and the TV showed three BBC channels & ITV. Well located with lots of nice restaurants in the immediate area and some great beach bars. Short walk to Paphos Harbour also.
“Not impressed”
there wasn't any restaurant available at lunchtime. poor services.
“Perfect Weeklong Stay”
We were in Paphos for a wedding, and stayed at Avanti for a week. Everything was top-notch, beautiful pool area, comfortable room and bed, very tasty food (we had breakfast buffet included), and staff took really good care of helping, helping book scuba class and other tours, as well as excellent dining recommendations. Overall, a 5-star experience, would absolutely recommend to anyone.
“Clean and Convenient”
This hotel is conveniently placed away from the main resort but within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants and the beach. Public transport runs past the front of the hotel with frequent buses. The hotel is very clean and the rooms spacious.
