Perfect location for a peaceful getaway, especially for a woman traveling alone. The staff were very accommodating, offering services when needed and honoring guests' privacy when preferred. I was in the older section of rooms with more of a traditional look. The room was lovely, especially the wooden cathedral ceiling. Rooms in the new section were more modern and European looking. The Master Suite was really nice, with a kitchen and a wrap-around balcony, and would be great for a family or group traveling together. The sunsets over the bay were fabulous every day!
A perfect place to get away and relax. From the moment we arrived, we couldn't have been treated better. Each morning starting with sitting on our balcony, watching the monkeys playing in the trees right outside our room. Then on to a good breakfast in one of the reasturants. Beautiful rooms, swimming pools, etc. make this a great place for vacation. Food at the restaurants was good (a little pricey). The hotel was also very helpful setting up excursions off the property. The beach was okay, but it felt almost like you were on a lake. We did see sea turtles and sting rays close to shore. If you want to pamper yourself, the spa was also very nice.

The resort is close to a beach but you have to know the tides as high tide covers the beach, the resort gives you a tide schedule. Be in shape as the resort is on a hill side and there can be walking involved. They have a shuttle to take you where ever you want, we liked walking. The food was some of the best we have had at an all inclusive resort. The buffet was excellent, lots of choices and lots of Costa Rican food, which is very good. The other restaurants are Italian and Oriental. Both are very good. Remember you are in Costa Rica and their version of these types of restaurants might not be the same as yours, but the food is darn good! The staff are top notch, and will get you whatever you need or want, the drinks flow freely and you can snack as much as you want all day at the pool restaurant. The pool is nice, small but designed well. We relaxed, ate, drank, danced, loved! What else do you need!
Papagayo is a largely untouched area on the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The isolated location has historically drawn quiet crowds of bird watchers and nature enthusiasts, but in recent years Papagayo has become a popular spot for new resorts. With both tropical forests and palm-tree lined beaches, visitors have an array of outdoor activities to enjoy including swimming and hiking.
