“RUN DOWN CRACK MOTEL..MAY AS WELL CHARGE BY THE HOUR..STAY AWAY!”

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS "RESORT" <-(JOKE)TO ANYONE, ITS A FILTHY RUN DOWN FORECLOSED PROPERTY,THE PICTURES ON THE SITE MUST BE 10 YEARS OLD.UPON CHECKING IN I WAS TOLD BY THE FRONT DESK THAT I WAS A FEW YEARS TOO LATE THAT IT USED TO BE A NICE PLACE..HA..AND THIS PLACE IS NOT UNDER CONSTRUCTION..THATS AN EXCUSE FOR THEM NOT MAINTAINING IT.NOTHING WORKS PROPERLY.THE POOL WAS FILTHY SPA WAS DISGUSTING.I WAS SWITCHED TO 3 DIFFERENT ROOMS DURING A 4 DAY STAY DUE TO EVERYTHING FROM NO ELECTRICITY,LEAKING CEILING..TOILETS..ETC..MAIDS DID NOT CLEAN ROOM ONCE OR CHANGE SHEETS.AND ITS IN A FAIRLY BAD NEIGHBORHOOD...TAKE MY ADVICE SPEND THE EXTRA 30-50 BUCKS A NIGHT AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE,IM SURE THAT PLACE WILL BE CONDEMNED OR DEMOLISHED SOON ENOUGH.

“On a dime, not so bad. Got some cash, go elsewhere.”

Just a low-rent place. Building was under construction but some things shouldn't need repair. Little things like blinds, screens on windows, leaky faucets. Reminded me of places I've stayed around the world, in 3rd world countries. That being said, the beds were clean, the shower worked, and they let me stay a couple hours after check-out without extra $$. Wouldn't wanna stay there again, but if you're on a tight budget, it works.

“WORLD'S MOST AWFUL HOTEL”

The rating when i booked this on Expedia was 2 1/2 stars but this hotel does not merit ANY STARS. It's a ramshack. My room was full of those large flying mosquitoes; it was filthy and disgusting. There was standing water in the bathroom sink. The only employee on site was the front desk person who was drunk. I feared for my personal safety. I left after my first night even though I had paid for 4 nights. It's a creepy place, unfit for habitation.

Area recommendations
I would avoid Desert Hot Springs altogether. Stay at a hotel next to the freeway.

“Could not get out fast enough”

A disaster, the hotel was under construction. Elevator not working - my room 2nd floor. No heat, no hot water. A mess everywhere. I had to spend one night before I moved to another facility because of the timing. Got out as soon as I could.

“Learn from your experiences”

The hotel has lots of potential. The room itself was nice. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom wasnt as clean as I would expect a hotel bathroom to be. The shower didnt have any hot water. Could only take luke warm shower. Pool wasnt heated and the hot tub needed to be cleaned

Area recommendations
Right across the street is the Desert Hot Springs Hotel and Spa. If you can afford it stay there. Clean rooms. Amazing pools and hot tubs.

“Stay away from Desert Hot Springs”

Don't let the words "sanctuary", "resort", or "spa" fool you. This place was a dive. I was under the impression that the place was cheep because it was "under renovation." That's half true, it was under renovation, but the place was a dive nonetheless. I discovered after-words that Desert Hot Springs has the largest concentration of parolees and ex-cons than anywhere else in California. There's also a a high amount of gang activity. I honestly felt scared staying at this hotel! If you do check in, make sure you check in early -- there will most definitely be something wrong with your room and you're more likely to have it rectified if you're the first to check in. Every time I passed through the lobby, I heard someone complaining about their room. Originally I was given a room key to a supply closet! I'm not kidding! Although the area was dangerous, and the hotel a bit of a slum, there were some positives. The clerk at the front desk, although ill-informed, was still accommodating. The rooms obviously hadn't been remodeled in maybe 4 decades, but as my wife said, at least there weren't any cockroaches. The pool was functional, but slightly dirty, so I wouldn't recommend going in. All in all the hotel wasn't terrible, the worst part was simply the bad neighborhood.

Area recommendations
Anywhere else in greater Palm Springs. Just stay away from Desert Hot Springs.
Family-friendly activities
Try the Children's Discovery Museum. The Living Desert is awesome! Plan on spending the whole day.

“Not even if your desperate...”

The bright side was that with Expedia's assistance I was able to get a full refund. Maybe upon their 2 year rennovation project things may be different but not until photos (interior/ exterior) are posted would I have give this place a second thought.

“worst breakfast we ever had”

Let them wait with receiving guests till renovation is done. Breakfast lousy, one(!) muffin and old coffee (no tea, juice etc.etc.)No bubbles in bubble bath, wonder what Spa stands for? Crazy fee for 3rd person in room.

Desert Hot Springs, California, United States of America: Through in-house spas, many lodging properties take full advantage of Desert Hot Springs’ best asset: mineral waters warmed by the earth. Homesteader Cabot Yerxa discovered the geothermal waters in 1913 while searching for potable water. Yerxa’s other legacy is the 35-room adobe mansion he built by hand. The home, now known as Cabot’s Pueblo Museum, is open for tours.
