“Location, Location, Location.”

Nice rooms in a cozy hotel with lovely grounds. The hotel's location is close to most of the important sites in Palm Springs. The staff was helpful and free wifi was useful.

Area recommendations
Do nt miss the Tahiritz Canyon or the Aerial Tramway.

Nice location, nice grounds, lumpy beds. Pleasant staff, near the mountain, fences all over suggesting that the neighborhood ain't too swift after dark. Not bad overall, but no bars of soap, only soap and shampoo dispensers. The lumpy beds are what made sleep difficult. Even the non-flat screen TV worked anyway! For the price, I'll bed Travelodge or Motel 6 could equal the bed, if not the nice grounds. I want to go higher, but a 2 it is. Don't think I'll go there again, but it is probably better than others. Had a conference at the Hotel Zozo, and it also looked rundown without any real redeeming features. Maybe they all are in PS!!!??? This one was once a gem, I think. Seems like it could have been much better without too much trouble!!!

Area recommendations
Indian Wells is beautiful . . . Palm Springs is a charming small village still. Desert Hot Springs was once nice, but isn't now . . . Palm Desert is where the family types live now. I love the Coachella Valley, esp. the north end, so will always recommend it. Growth there reminds me a little of Las Vegas--used to be a quaint little fun place, but is now larger and lost in the warehouse stores and shopping centers. Still some boutiques and charm, but bet you the stars don't come out so much anymore. The stars in the sky are still there, and so clear. The landscapes are nice, also, even the "empty" fields (full of native plants . . . ). Lots of history, and it is probably the family history there that keeps me happily going back. I don't frequent the casinos, but they are there if you want them. Spas too. Very nice!

“Not Impressed”

This hotel although conveniently located was very run-down. The paint was chipping & the tile in the bathroom was cracked. There were very few pictures on the walls & a mirror was nailed to the wall crooked. We have stayed at better Motel 6's before! The pool was nice & the staff were friendly but the room was ghetto & it was not worth the money we paid! Needs a complete overhaul! We will not be going back there!

Next time we will pay a little more & stay at the Hyatt Regency!

“Great View and Location”

We have stayed here before. The location is perfect and the view magnificent. Our room's air conditioning wasn't working very well and we finally called to complain. They were very apologetic and moved us to another room. The pool was great. Nice families are usually there and many from Europe are there as well. California Pizza Kitchen has pool side delivery which is great. We will go back again.

“A repeat visitor to the Palm Mtn Resort”

I've stayed here a few other times, so I knew what to expect. It's a wonderful, superb location to the downtown bar/restaurant area (compared to the glitzy far-flung resorts that are all car-dependent). This is also a no-frills place. Bed is rather lumpy. Pool is nice, but fairly small. Rooms are reasonably large & have refrigerators for your drinks & leftovers, but they're nothing to get excited about. This is a great place for value-minded folks. They've got free internet/computer (well, there's a mandatory $8/day resort fee...) which is a nice touch, but the computer in their lobby is so miserably slow. It's nice that they offer it for those of us who don't need to have a laptop glued to our backsides. However, it should be functional. Maid service is fine, but incredibly slow. They seem to think it's fine to get around to your room in the late afternoon (4 PM).....just when one is trying to take a nap during the heat of the day & recharge for a "night out".

Area recommendations
The downtown Palm Springs area is wonderful for walking (assuming you're not doing it in the middle of the day when it's 115!). If you prefer to be resort-bound & not leave the place, then there are much better options than staying at places in the charming & vintage downtown area....which has accommodations at all price points.
Dining
Wow --- the choices are really endless. The venerable, somewhat over-priced Spencer's is walking distance from the hotel. Johannes is on Indian Canyon, just a short walk away. Trio & Tropicale are two of the more "youthful" fine dining/bar places & are both reasonably decent long walks. And...what trip to the PS area would be complete without a stop for breakfast or lunch at Sherman's on Tahquiz Canyon! It's also just a short walk from the hotel; but avoid their dinners....fairly mediocre. There's also plenty of mediocre breakfast & dinner places in the area that really don't care if you have a good meal or not. They seem to think that you're a one-time tourist & don't give a darn if you return or not...since they'll have your money at that point. But, truly, I think the "good" places far outweigh the bad ones!

“not what we expected”

When we made the reservation we thought we were not going to have to leave the resort. There is no restaurant no bar or lounge and the pool was not big at all.

“DO NOT STAY!!!”

Pictures on site were misleading. It was obvious some of the rooms were remodeled and were used for the site. Our room was filthy with feces and snot on walls and floor. The toilet wobbled. When asked if we could change rooms due to the condition, we were told outright "NO!" Will Not stay there again. Would have been happier at a Motel 6!
