My room had cockroaches. I reported it and the roach was still there. Only after I reported again did they clean it up. The next day, another roach. When I checked in, I asked to be upgraded. The young lady serving me said she did not think that would be a problem. After half an hours wait, while she checked with her supervisor, I was told it would $2000 a night more. The bell boy told me he never saw anyone have to wait so long to get to their room. I am elderly, travel alone and feel this was senior bias.

We had a fantastic stay at the cloister! Roody checked us in and was very helpful throughout our stay. The amenities were top notch, the pools were clean and the boat shuttle over to the beach was very convenient. We ate at a few of the restaurants while on site and had delicious meals! The drinks were also great!

Our stay was nothing short of perfect right up until the very last moment were my husband and I had the most unfortunate encounter with a rude valet staff member. He had misplaced our bags and we had to return to the hotel to retrieve them. Upon our return he immediately disrespects my husband and I and even threatens us. Very unfortunate how one individual who needs serious hospitality training or a transfer to a non client facing position can ruin the entire experience that would have otherwise been wonderful.

Staff needs formal training on service & hospitality. Service was not acceptable for 5 star resort but the rudeness was shocking. Pool & beach staff were terrible. Heard multiple times staff saying they couldn’t wait to go home. Over a 6+ hour period not one person approached me. This was post Labor Day with more staff than guests/members on the grounds. If you’re not a member I would NOT recommend. The resort caters to members more than hotel guests. The members are also unfriendly but understand they are priority. I didn't expect to feel this way at a resort as a paying guest. And then there was the girl at the spa who told me that the robes are ‘narrow’ so I should try it on in front of her to see if I need a larger size. The checkout process was disheartening. I noticed credit card charges didn’t match receipts so asked to see an itemized copy. Figured out it was resort fees that I was expecting, however Jessica was incredibly rude when questioned one charge not related. Had to leave paying in full & that she would contact billing. She was so offended & her intent to make it right was far from sincere. No one should feel this way after spending $1000s on a vacation. Positives - some staff in the Cloisters were friendly & helpful. Grounds are gorgeous. Will never return nor recommend. I’ve traveled the world & NEVER been treated so poorly or experienced such rude staff anywhere. After leaving a direct review w/ the resort someone followed up regarding the mystery charge.
