“Lovely comfortable hotel”
This hotel was really good. It was nice to have a bath as well as a shower in the bathroom. The hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful. As for Palermo itself, we stayed for 4 days which depending on the reason for your visit, was possibly a day or 2 too long. There is a great sightseeing bus tour which we thoroughly recommend but as tourists in the high season Palermo seems to be missing the odd trick. We arrived on a Saturday and the whole town appeared to be shut. By sunday evening things had picked up a bit. We had no problem finding restaurants but as we didn't have a car struggled to find much to do in the town itself. Palermo is worth a visit but if you are going in high season make sure you are there during the week and a 2/3 night stay is probably all you need.
“Palermo Buisness district hotel”
Good hotel in the buisness end of Palermo. Good looking, clean and well maintained. No bar or restaurant.
“A comfortable quiet haven”
3 things stood out about Plaza Opera. Not obvious at first but as you get to know Palermo the location is very good with lots of good eating options nearby. The hotel is modern, comfortable with good air conditioning. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
“Very convenient, well-located, quality hotel”
This trip was surprisingly smooth: our flight was on time, the transfer to and from the airport by the airport shuttle was extremely efficient and economical and the hotel was perfect for our needs. The hotel is well located in the central area of Palermo, around the corner from the bus stops and airport shuttle, and therefore very well connected to all the sights. We had a suite at this hotel and could not have been more pleased with the space it provided, its cleanliness, its beautiful terrace ovelooking the city and the staff's attention to detail. We appreciated the Sky satellite TV, given that English-language channels are hard to find in Italian hotels. There was a coffee maker in the room and the right brand of coffee and tea - a delightful surprise! We would have preferred to have breakfast on our terrace, given that the breakfast room was in a tight and sometimes stuffy basement room. Also the quality of the selection there left a bit to be desired.
“Very satisfied”
I stayed in this hotel one night. I had a very nice room although small - but the ceiling was high which gave me a comfortable feel. Great bed, nicely equipped bathroom. Very efficient - but not loud - central A/C. Rich breakfast buffet. Great and safe location by the Politeama. For a short stay I'd go for it again. Great value for what you pay.
“Would stay there again in a hearbeat.”
Great hotel in great location. The hotel was impeccable. Friendly staff. Airport bus stops one block away from hotel so easy, inexpensive access to airport. Many major buses stop near hotel so easy to visit all sights. Breakfast was abundant with lots of choices. Lots of great restaurants nearby within walking distance, including many of those included in several guidebooks.
“Good value comfortable modern hotel in a convenient location”
We stayed in a standard room which was small (as one would expect for a city centre location) with relatively plain decor (modern in style - do not expect individuality or quirky designer touches) but very comfortable. The entrance lobby and bar are stylish - more designer touches in evidence here. The hotel is a good size - small enough to feel relatively intimate and personal - not just a business hotel. The breakfast choices included a wide range of local and international options, all very fresh and good quality. All of the staff we encountered were thoroughly charming and could not have been more helpful. Reception staff spoke very good English. The main selling point for this hotel, however, is its location in the upmarket Politeama/Via Liberta area, a very short walk from bus services to and from the airport, services to the old town and train station (alternatively 15 to 20 minutes walk), and bus services to Mondello (nearby seaside village - very pleasant in good weather). The area is relatively safe for Palermo and is characterised by designer shops and some good restaurants and bars. The hotel's location on a side street ensures it is not too noisy (personally I would avoid hotels situated directly on the busy main streets in Palermo as I dislike the constant traffic). Overall we had a very pleasant stay at a price which I think was good value compared with other hotels of a similar rating we considered.
“Brilliant hotel”
Excellent service from the receptionist. Good breakfast, well situated for sights of Palermo. Restaurants in walking distance. Right by bus stops for Terravision and autobus to Marsala.
“Great Palermo Hotel”
What a great hotel! Great location, just two blocks off of the main thoroughfare (refered to as the Champs Elysees of Palermo). The staff was very accommodating, eager to share sights and great restaurants that are close to the hotel. Our room was good sized, clean and bright. Breakfast was fabuloius! The hotel made Palermo a highlight of our trip to Sicily!
“Comfortable hotel in Palermo”
Perfect location, good restaurants and shopping nearby - though a bit of a walk to the old bits of Palermo - airport bus stops around the corner too and the hotel has a shuttle that will take you to Mondello beach when the heat gets too much. Drink on rooftop at sunset is recommended - great views.

Palermo, Italy: Sicilys capital stands on a curved bay at the foot of Monte Pellegrino. Its a chaotic, ebullient place with masses to see. Puppet theatre, street markets and marzipan fruits are typical Palermo treats. Get your bearings at a major intersection, the Quattro Canti. Dont miss the superb mosaics in the Cappella Palatina, or Serpottas stuccowork in the city churches. The mummified corpses in the Capuchin catacombs are the stuff of nightmares.
