“Good but not fantastic”
The room was large and beautiful and the service was friendly. I would expect a little more competent service for a 5 star hotel when we asked for help in communicating with some agency. The negative part was that the hotel is located in front of a bar that stays noisy until very late (around 2:00 AM). We wanted to keep the window open since they keep the room a little bit to hot for us and we could not do it due to the noise. The breakfast was good but not outstanding. In general, I would recommend for a friend.
“Mattresses far too hard.”
Hotel service could not be faulted. Clean towels and sheets every day. Staff really helpful. However the bed was too hard and the shower flooded the bathroom floor. The hotel was in a central location near the Teatro Politiamo.
“Fantastic location, great hotel”
Stayed for 3 nights and was very impressed with everything. Large room, mini bar (not too expensive) and arrived to find a complimentary bottle of wine in the room. Needed extra pillows which were brought to us straight away. Great location in Palermo, near to bus stops for airport and sight seeing, but in a quiet street. Would definitely go back there again.
“We were fully satisfied”
We stayed in a hotel at the beginning of this January. It was just an escape from cold and humid winter to a warmest place in Europe - just vacations, no business, no todo's, no long preparations. We decided that everything we need to know we'll know upon arrival, so choosed this hotel for its location, free wifi internet and general star level. And no regrets for this decision. Hotel is clean. Of course, white in carpets was not snow-white, but it was really clean. Room was really spacious, bathroom was enough big and with window. It were two wardrobes upon arrival, but since one was not used during first day, it was removed... Hotel is quiet some days of the week (American restaurant is still across the street), but you can close the window (it's easy in winter), and there are still a lot of rooms with windows to another street. Breakfast is good. To tell more - the best scrambled eggs and especially ham slices outside USA. Good choice of pastries, 2-3 types of cheese, yoghurts, cereals, coffee of your choice, friendly staff. Internet was free and speedy, you only need to ask for login/pass at reception, you can do this by phone. During weekend we rented a car, and were very surprised that hotel parking on these days was free of charge. If you'll add 2 blocks to Via Roma, 1/2 block to Via Marqueda, 2 blocks to Politeama and Massima and 30 Euros to Mondello beach by taxi (note there is no beach in Palermo!) - you'll agree that Federico II is what you need.

“Great location!”
The hotel's location is great, very close to the main shopping/restaurant area, Via Settimo Ruggero. Extremely helpful hotel staff, great breakfast buffet and Views from the room are disappointing but rooms are spacious.
“First Class Service!”
The staff was tremendous!!! They happily went out of their way to help with transport to the car rental office, making restaurant reservations and assisting however they could with even the smallest requests. The room was really nice and I appreciated the comfy robe!
“Very nice facility.”
The staff was a little lacking in knowledge of surrounding services and resources. And for a 5 star hotel not to have a concierge, I found a little disconcerting. However the wait staff in the restaurant and bar were quite helpfu.
“Maybe 4 1/2 stars, rather than 5”
I would have expected a comfortable arm chair, rather than a hard-armed chair in the room. Our safe didn't work initially (previous guest had left something blocking the mechanism) & took a day to fix. Parking was valet-style (hotel is in middle of big city) and was $25/day extra. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast on garden on roof was very pleasant.

Palermo, Italy: Sicilys capital stands on a curved bay at the foot of Monte Pellegrino. Its a chaotic, ebullient place with masses to see. Puppet theatre, street markets and marzipan fruits are typical Palermo treats. Get your bearings at a major intersection, the Quattro Canti. Dont miss the superb mosaics in the Cappella Palatina, or Serpottas stuccowork in the city churches. The mummified corpses in the Capuchin catacombs are the stuff of nightmares.
