“Awful hotel experience in Monreale, Sicily.”
The Genoardo Park hotel in Monreale near Palermo provided a deeply unsatisfactory experience. I travelled with my wife and small baby expecting a relaxing experience. The hotel is almost 3km from the Cathedral / centre of Monreale, not the 1.8km listed. The route to the city is certainly not safe to walk, there are no paths outside the hotel and without ground transport we found ourselves cut off at the hotel. There was no shop, just the one expensive / fussy restaurant on site and no bar facilities after 7pm. The shuttle is 9am out, 4pm back. On each of the three nights we spent there, weddings were organised and loud music was played on the terrace below our room until 1am. If eating at the restaurant, we were faced with two competing sound systems. Firework displays took place directly outside the window after 10 pm. We were effectively confined in our room each evening. The service for hotel customers was almost non existent, most staff seemed to be diverted to the events and there was little apology for this. Redeption was very difficult to speak to as little English was spoken by the staff. Our room remained unserviced after our first day. The cot requested was not delivered until 11pm on our 2nd night, after 3 requests. I can find nothing to recommend in the experience, we felt like uninvited wedding guests our entire stay and felt forced to check out after 3 days and move to another hotel in Palermo to receive the service and rest we were hoping for.
“Nice hotel, bad restaurant!”
This hotel was really nice, the rooms are spacious and reserve to its clients excellent service. However, the quality of the food they serve in their restaurant is really poor.
“Beautiful on the outside, not so much on the inside.”
I never know how we would have found this hotel without a GPS. It is in Monreale, but tucked away in the middle of a residential area. The hotel has air conditioning, however, the rooms are very warm because the air conditioning barely works. The hallways are very cool because the air conditioning works well outside the rooms. Bathrooms needed a lot of work. Bathtub controls had holes around them. The tile work was not done well and the towel racks coming away from the walls. The hotel is very expensive to eat at, and the food was not good. Unless you go into Palermo, you are stuck eating in house. Breakfast buffet was good. No customers in the hotel, aside from two weddings and one communion. Hotel has underground parking which had one other car besides mine. It was worth the money, but do not expect much.
“Is this hotel really open?”
We stayed for 3 nights post our wedding on 22nd June 2009. We were looking forward to the quiet location and relaxing by the swimming pool. Unfortunately we appeared to be the only guests apart from a tour group and the hotel was semi-closed. Swimming pool was closed for maintenance, outside cafe/bar closed, inside bar only open in the evenings. Shuttle Service not offered. No room service. There were no staff at the bar or the restaurant which seemed to be serving buffet. Not the romantic experience we had hoped for. The bathroom was not of a four star standard with only a mixer tap over the bath, no hook or curtain for showering. Staff were plentiful in some areas, but not helpful. The receptionist hung up on us twice when we called the hotel to request a taxi pick up. We would not return.
“Would recomment”
Clean, good restaurant
“Genoardo Park Hotel Monreale”

fraaie echt italiaanse locatie.Kennelijk vooral voor bruiloften en conferenties
“Genoardo Park Hotel”
Ottimo hotel, camera spaziosa, bella e pulita. Personale molto gentile e disponibile.
Preise allgemein sehr teuer. Nie wieder Palermo!!

Area:
Palermo, Italy: Sicilys capital stands on a curved bay at the foot of Monte Pellegrino. Its a chaotic, ebullient place with masses to see. Puppet theatre, street markets and marzipan fruits are typical Palermo treats. Get your bearings at a major intersection, the Quattro Canti. Dont miss the superb mosaics in the Cappella Palatina, or Serpottas stuccowork in the city churches. The mummified corpses in the Capuchin catacombs are the stuff of nightmares.
