“Great Place to Stay”
The staff here were so helpful and friendly and the hotel was really clean with a superb breakfast.
“Convenient place in Central Palermo close to train and bus stations”
On the second floor, with lift, of an imposing 19 century building on Via Roma this is a basic but very convenient hotel in the historic centre of town. The old town is walkable, bus and train stations are just 5 minutes away on foot. Helpful staff, good breakfasts, good size rooms with only italian channels TV. Via Roma is a little noisy so rooms at the back or on the side of the building are preferable. Overall, a good value for money as a base of sightseeing in Palermo and the whole region.
“Three of us are agreed. Excellent value for money. Would go back.”
O.K., an easy chair in the bedroom would have been nice; and it was the smallest en-suite bathroom I've ever seen but it was perfectly adequate and spotless. Yes, the breakfast was not likely to set you up for the day so you could miss lunch - as greedy tourists often seem to expect. But the coffee was excellent. The bread was NOT stale it was Italian! But the rooms were fine and were silent. The control of CH/aircon by reception was no problem. I simply rang when I wanted it swirtching and it was fine. The staff were charming and immensely helpful even booking our b&b in Agrigento for us (their Italian was better than ours!). A five-minute walk to airport bus was a great bonus. The pizzeria/trattoria 'San Domenico' up the road, on the left of the Piazza San D, was great and very friendly. The place in the little piazza (off the Via Roma, almost opposite and to the left) was dire and the waiter surly.
“Hidden gem”
This Hotel is well placed for the station and on the main shopping street. Room spotless but basic. A few restaurants serving great food nearby. Staff helpful and friendly. No safe in room but hotel happy to lock valuables in theirs. Breakfast selection good. Palermo itself feels a bit unsafe so watch your valuables at all times especially on the buses and at night. We arrived at 10.30pm and wouldn't recommend the station area at this time! Everything closes between 1.30 and 4pm, so as hotel is in centre, go back and have a siesta.
“Good hotel, shame about the weather”
The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Would definately consider staying there again
“GOOD LOCATION”
This is quite a nice hotel, conveniently located on a main shopping street (Via Roma) a few minutes walk from the railway station (itself useful for the airport connection and excursions to Cefalu along the coast). It is strangely located on the 2nd floor of an apartment block, but offers a nice breakfast and friendly staff. The only drawback --- being November --- was the cold stone floor in the somewhat chilly bedroom.
“Nice, basic hotel, good location”
Hotel was centrally located - great base for the train station for getting out of Palermo and to the beach etc. Breakfast was fine, nothing special but perfectly adequate. Hotel turned our air con off during the day which meant coming back to a boiling room every day. The unit also wasn't that effective. Bed wasn't overly comfortable but fine. Hotel staff were friendly, spoke good English and hotel was clean and nice. I would stay there again but I doubt I will ever go back to Palermo! Palermo is a very sad city which was obviously once grand and beautiful. The effects of the mafia control are very apparent. Worth a visit but not much to do in Palermo itself - I wouldn't spend more than 2 days in the city centre.
“Perfectly placed”
This Hotel is in a perfect position for ease of access to the railway station and therefore the airport, and within short walking distance of Palermo's main tourist attractions. Basic but fine.
“Would not stay there again!”
We asked for a double bed but we ended up with two single beds! room was freezing cold (Feb) had to go to reception to get them to turn it on which took ages to warm up. Very small shower and shower door did not work hence water all over the bathroom floor. The room reeked of cigarette smoke and as a non smoker this was revolting.
“Basic, with some issues...”
The hotel is in a good location - in the historic centre of Palermo. The facilities are basic, no frills, but the staff are helpful and civil and the hotel is reasonably clean. The rooms and beds are an okay size- some have balconies with tables and chairs, which is nice. Some of the rooms are like "garrets" or duplexes, with the bathroom (and weirdly, the wardrobe...) on the lower floor and an upstairs bedroom accessed via a narrow, iron spiral staircase... the eccentricity is pleasant at first but soon becomes trying. These upper bedrooms have VERY low ceilings and little light. The lower areas are unheated. The bathrooms have very small shower cubicles and the water never heats up beyond lukewarm - so showering and shaving are not pleasant. This is made worse by the fact there is no heating downstairs. I imagine it is more pleasant to stay here during warm seasons, but I would say it is not for everyone and I would not stay again.

Area:
Palermo, Italy: Sicilys capital stands on a curved bay at the foot of Monte Pellegrino. Its a chaotic, ebullient place with masses to see. Puppet theatre, street markets and marzipan fruits are typical Palermo treats. Get your bearings at a major intersection, the Quattro Canti. Dont miss the superb mosaics in the Cappella Palatina, or Serpottas stuccowork in the city churches. The mummified corpses in the Capuchin catacombs are the stuff of nightmares.
