My wife, daughter and I stayed at this hotel on our pilgrimage to Padre Pio. The hotel has been recently upgraded and is in excellent condition, the rooms are adequate, modern and clean the bed was a little hard for my liking. The owners are excellent and friendly and the staff are just great, particularly Michele who appeared to be everywhere and remembered our favourite foods and drinks regardless of which meal break we were having, he is a valuable asset to the hotel and tourists alike. The hotel has free parking and is located opposite Mary Pyle's house which is two minutes walking from the Shrine of Padre Pio, once the car was parked we did not need it again until we left San Giovanni Rotondo. On a historical note, the then Cardinal Karol Woytyla stayed at this hotel in November 1974.
This hotel is right at the foot of the new walk-way going up the opposite side (from the entrance) of the shrine to the crypt church. Huge and beautiful hotel (very large and slightly impersonal) but it has lovely rooms and excellent service. We felt the restaurant was nice but there was nothing remarkable about it.
We were there for the feast day of Padre Pio with tons of people at the hotel (busloads!) but we never felt crowded, rushed or made to wait. The view of the shrine and surrounding area is beautiful. It is a small uphill climb to the shrine from the hotel but since it is a climb uphill from any other hotel, this does not matter. Will definitely use this hotel again.

I am satisfied with the hotel especially great location. It is important to inquire
how to get in to the hotel if one is planning to stay out past midnight especially
on the eve of the Feast of St. Padre Pio. I came back and the front door was locked and I managed to get in by going to the nearby hotel which was still open and who kindly called and woke up the hotel's night person who was sleeping in the lobby.
