Great room, staff, location

Posted 01-Dec-2014
Pros: Location, Service, Quality, Comfortable Bed.
Cons: I was looking forward to a nice bacon and egg breakfast but was still very happy with what was on offer. Perhaps this is something for the future?
I booked this room based on other reviewers' reviews and I wasn't disappointed. The booking was for a birthday getaway. The location is great, 5 minute walk from the station and 10 from the city. The family who run the B&B are very friendly and hospitable. The bed was very comfortable and we both had a great sleep. We made a few purchases and found that they were secure and safe enough to leave while we wondered around as well as being given a key to access the B&B at a late time of the day after we had made checkout. Breakfast was provided with fresh fruit, toast, croissants, pastry, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. We stayed in room two, which has it's own bathroom and faces the road. We found that there was a little bit of road noise but once on that comfortable bed we had no trouble sleeping. I would highly recommend this place.

Expensive for what it was.

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: It was convenient fir both the station and the centre of Oxford.
Cons: Cleaner carpets, option of cooked breakfast and more appropriate tariff.
Location: We were in Oxford to see a play at te Oxford Playhouse. The hotel was very convenient for this and the station.
The hotel was satsfactory for an overnight stay. The room, though small, was clean, with the exception of the carpets, and tidy. We did have to ask for a hairdryer and remote control for the TV. The bathroom was too small to be able to dry oneself after a shower and some instructions for controlling the shower would have been useful. Breakfast offered a choice of cereals, fruit, croissant or toast and small selection of cold meat. For the price, we expected the option of a cooked breakfast.

A bit pricey but delightful and close to Oxford

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: The B&B has definitely got a better character than your run-of-the-mill hotels - more personal.
Cons: It would be nice to have a cooked breakfast, though what was available was quite satisfactory.
Location: It is close to Oxford - lots of historical places to visit there.
We took the train to Oxford and found the Osney Arms to be quite conveniently located on the main road out of town that runs right by the station. It is perhaps five minutes' walk away if you are used to moving at a decent pace. The room we took was quite pleasant - the top-floor garret room, so not much in the way of head space for tall people, but well provided for and arranged in every other respect. We didn't bother with the television, so no comments there. The bed is comfortable and there is room for spreading stuff out a bit on the floor. Tea and coffee and related gear sit on the little side table. Our room shared a bathroom with another room upstairs. No shower, but a ridiculously luxurious footed bathtub (we actually fit!) with excellent hot water pressure, plus a towel warmer to pamper you even more. Soap, shampoo, and shower gel were provided in the little hotel-type "servings." Breakfast is nothing fancy, but substantive and of good quality - multiple types of cereals, some fruit juices, yogurts, cheese slices and cured sausage slices, with toast or croissants available upon request. For the price, it seemed as though we ought to expect perhaps a cooked breakfast or something else extra. But apparently the place has only recently come into existence (it was a pub until a little over a year ago, and the house had to be gutted and redone), so perhaps the owners can't afford to lower the prices just yet.

Great staff, authentic inn

Posted 09-Nov-2014
This inn has a great value. The room had comfortable, immaculate bed, satellite tv with dvd, tea maker, and a nice bathroom. The location is close to the train station, ten minutes to Oxford central, one minute to a food shop. The staff are very friendly, caring and hospitable from housekeeping to management. Two thumbs up.

lots of problems

Posted 21-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Although our host was extremely friendly and helpful, there were some issues. Although we had asked for an upper, quiet room, we were on the first floor, listening to traffic roar by. It was also a handicap room, so the sink was too low and the shower not suited to us, Also, the room was too warm and far from the University center.

Convenient Location & Very Comfortable

Posted 20-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
The Osney is conveniently located near the Oxford train station and an easy walk with baggage. After staying in two previously small hotels in England, I was very surprised at how modern, clean, comfortable and large my room was (with a complete bathroom). The staff, especially Simon, were very friendly and accommodating. I also greatly enjoyed the breakfast at a large table with other guests, exchanging travel stories. Next time I am in Oxford, I would very much like to stay here again.

Quiet comfort

Posted 05-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
I was pleasantly surprised at the recently renovated rooms. Although small, my room was incredibly comfortable — the bedding and towels were especially plush. The proprietor was very kind and all established a friendly atmosphere among the guests at breakfast. The hotel is an easy walk from the train station but far enough from city centre to avoid the crowds. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Oxford!

Great Inn!

Posted 02-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
The Osney Arms serves as a great reminded of why you should stay in the small inns and b&b's as opposed to the bug hotel chains, we got there really early and simon greeted us and allowed us to check in to our rooms right away, he came in later in the day to ensure we had everything we needed. Everything you want which resulted in a great stay. Thanks Simon!
