B and B, not a hotel

Posted 03-Jul-2015
Pros: Very nice managers.
I was expecting a hotel but found myself in a bed and breakfast guest house. I was warmly received by the manager, but my room was at the top of the stairs (no lift) and it was well below the standard I was expecting for the price I had paid. The room was built into the roof, so there was a sloping wall that I kept hitting your head against. The bed was a single bed and there was no wardrobe, just a rack. The bathroom was small be acceptable. There was no armchair. Considering I paid at least 50% more for this room than any other hotel room I stayed in in England (and they were all much better) I would rate this as a very bad deal. Why are rooms in Oxford so exorbitantly expensive? It must also be said that Osney is not one of the more pleasant areas of Oxford.

Comfortable hotel close to station and town centre

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Pros: Location and price. Breakfast. Friendliness of proprietor. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Better coffee and tea facility in-room.
Location: Near the station and town centre - so good access to the libraries and visits to central colleges.
I chose the hotel because it was close to the station but also only 20 min walk into the centre of Oxford. For Oxford it is reasonable in terms of value for money. It is rather unprepossessing from the outside, but inside is a different story. My room was small but perfectly fine for a couple of nights - very good access to the internet free of charge. I didn't have an en suite which again for a couple of nights wasn't a problem - the shared bathroom was large and light, although it didn't have a shower - which I had missed when booking it. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast, which is at a large shared kitchen table in very sunny room, offered huge variety of cereals and excellent fresh fruit salad, with toast, pancakes etc. I will certainly be going back to Oxford and would stay here again, but hope to get a room with an en suite next time.

Pros: Friendly staff
Location: Convenient to city centre,
Convenient for city centre, but quiet enough for a good nights sleep. Martin and Louise could not have been more helpful and breakfast was awesome. Thoroughly recommend.

I stayed three nights at the Osney Arms with my friend. We got the two bed room at the very top, so the room was a little small because the slant of the roof. Everything was provided for us in the room. The bathroom was shared with other guest in another room on the same floor. There was no shower, as Americans it was a little difficult to wash your hair in just a tub especially with long hair. Breakfast was amazing, with cereal, fruits, yogurt, toast, croissant, and fresh baked scones.

Excellent stay

Posted 20-Apr-2015
Pros: Comfortable room. Very clean and bright. Newly renovated rooms.
Cons: nothing
Location: Short walk to the bus / train terminal. 5 min walk.
I was in Oxford recently and stayed for 3 days at the inn. The staff is very friendly. I was greeted by my name when I arrived. The room was clean and bright. I had the best night sleep. The continental breakfast was delicious with home made scones. The inn is close to the train / bus terminal ( very short walk). I would stay here again and again and will definitely recommend to others.

Friendly, well-kept B&B

Posted 17-Apr-2015
A very neat and tidy B&B in a modernized lovely old house, with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was healthy and included lots of choices. Quiet neighbourhood, really only a few minutes walk from anything, but I suppose you could take a taxi if you didn't like walking. I would certainly stay there again!
