Convenient but noisy

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: It was well located and I could walk into the centre of the city easily
Cons: Air conditioning in room 8
Location: Lots to do nearby as it is in Cambridge
The guest house is freshly painted and clean and conveniently located. However I was a single booking and given a single room on the noisy road side with the roof slope taking up half the room. The bed was directly under the window and it was warm weather. If I opened the window, I heard trucks and buses roaring past, if I closed the window, it was hot so I did not get a good night's sleep. I asked to change my room but was told they were fully booked. The second night was less noisy since it was the weekend. It was expensive for what I got

OK hotel, but hot bedroom and difficult to bathe

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Pros: Furnishings to a high standard
Cons: Bathroom functionality, bedroom air circulation
Location: 10 min walk to the train station
The Osney Arms is very well decorated and finished to a high standard. The staff were polite and the breakfast was suitable, we thought there might be more options for a cooked breakfast, but it is more of a continental breakfast, which was ok. We do think that the room was overpriced for two reasons: the bathroom & the bedroom. We had a shared bathroom, but it was only a big bath, with no plug hole, and no shower head. It was difficult to bathe (only by sliding yourself around under the tap was this possible. It was not practical, and should be rectified immediately. The temperature was around 28-30 degrees and of high humidity when we were in Oxford; therefore, the difficulty to bathe was actually a problem for us given the price. Also, our room was right at the top - and when we arrived, our window was closed, so the room was extremely hot. There was only one small window at the end of the room, which did not allow much circulation of air to cool the room off. It would have been better had the staff proactively realized it was so hot and put a fan in our room to try and increase our comfort. Our room was so hot we barely slept the first night. The second night, when we came into the Osney Arms, we saw a fan downstairs not being used so took that to be able to sleep. Our visit would have benefited from the staff being more proactive to address the bathroom and bedroom issue to increase guest comfort from the start; would recommend but not in summer

Easy walking distance from train station and town.

Posted 03-Jul-2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable and close to town. Free wifi. Good breakfast with a lovely fresh fruit salad. Staff happy to let us leave our bags for the day.
Cons: Access to a toilet when shared bathroom in use.
Location: Town centre, University colleges, shops, canal.
Received a very warm welcome. Hotel is immaculate with very comfortable beds that weren't too hard. Combed ceiling made top floor room not quite ideal for 2 tall people! Bathroom shared between 3 rooms wasn't ideal - access to a separate toilet would have been appreciated as we had to delay going to bed while another guest had a lengthy bath.

Overpriced

Posted 22-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The room was clean and newly renovated but small, unfortunately parking was a problem and the breakfast very dissapointing. Road noise was also an issue. Expensive for what was on offer.

Good place for Oxford centre

Posted 18-Jun-2014
Pros: It's in a good spot for wandering into the centre. All was working and clean - good en-suite, coffee making facilities etc. Friendly, helpful owner.
Cons: Well, it's a bit pricey but that's what's expected in Oxford. The parking is a bit basic, but OK. There's no info. in the room on the hotel itself.
Location: On a busy, slow main road - very convenient for strolling into the centre. Takes about 15 minutes or so.
This is a small, comfortable, friendly hotel. It's not the cheapest, but you are only a 15 minute stroll into the city centre. You might want to check out parking before you get there - there seemed to be only two spaces out at the front of the building, but might be more elsewhere. the en-suite was fine - good shower! If I was going back to Oxford for an overnight stay I'd definitely consider coming back here. It is on a really slow congested road - but very close to the train station.

A unpleasant experience

Posted 13-Jun-2014
Location: Near town but noisy.
It was advertised as a bubble room but it had only one very uncomfortable chair. We closed the window and then when we later want to open it it was stuck and we had to use a coat hanger to open it. The whole place smell unpleasant.

Good location off the center of town but all walkable. Quiet neighborhood as slept with window open when the weather was warm. Rooms were good size for UK and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

Great Little B&B

Posted 29-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
Nice hotel that was conveniently located for the wedding we went to. The local area makes parking a bit of an issue but we found some eventually. Breakfast is more continental and a good full english wouldn't have gone amiss.
