Expensive for what it was.

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: It was convenient fir both the station and the centre of Oxford.
Cons: Cleaner carpets, option of cooked breakfast and more appropriate tariff.
Location: We were in Oxford to see a play at te Oxford Playhouse. The hotel was very convenient for this and the station.
The hotel was satsfactory for an overnight stay. The room, though small, was clean, with the exception of the carpets, and tidy. We did have to ask for a hairdryer and remote control for the TV. The bathroom was too small to be able to dry oneself after a shower and some instructions for controlling the shower would have been useful. Breakfast offered a choice of cereals, fruit, croissant or toast and small selection of cold meat. For the price, we expected the option of a cooked breakfast.

Great staff, authentic inn

Posted 09-Nov-2014
This inn has a great value. The room had comfortable, immaculate bed, satellite tv with dvd, tea maker, and a nice bathroom. The location is close to the train station, ten minutes to Oxford central, one minute to a food shop. The staff are very friendly, caring and hospitable from housekeeping to management. Two thumbs up.

Convenient but noisy

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: It was well located and I could walk into the centre of the city easily
Cons: Air conditioning in room 8
Location: Lots to do nearby as it is in Cambridge
The guest house is freshly painted and clean and conveniently located. However I was a single booking and given a single room on the noisy road side with the roof slope taking up half the room. The bed was directly under the window and it was warm weather. If I opened the window, I heard trucks and buses roaring past, if I closed the window, it was hot so I did not get a good night's sleep. I asked to change my room but was told they were fully booked. The second night was less noisy since it was the weekend. It was expensive for what I got

OK hotel, but hot bedroom and difficult to bathe

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Pros: Furnishings to a high standard
Cons: Bathroom functionality, bedroom air circulation
Location: 10 min walk to the train station
The Osney Arms is very well decorated and finished to a high standard. The staff were polite and the breakfast was suitable, we thought there might be more options for a cooked breakfast, but it is more of a continental breakfast, which was ok. We do think that the room was overpriced for two reasons: the bathroom & the bedroom. We had a shared bathroom, but it was only a big bath, with no plug hole, and no shower head. It was difficult to bathe (only by sliding yourself around under the tap was this possible. It was not practical, and should be rectified immediately. The temperature was around 28-30 degrees and of high humidity when we were in Oxford; therefore, the difficulty to bathe was actually a problem for us given the price. Also, our room was right at the top - and when we arrived, our window was closed, so the room was extremely hot. There was only one small window at the end of the room, which did not allow much circulation of air to cool the room off. It would have been better had the staff proactively realized it was so hot and put a fan in our room to try and increase our comfort. Our room was so hot we barely slept the first night. The second night, when we came into the Osney Arms, we saw a fan downstairs not being used so took that to be able to sleep. Our visit would have benefited from the staff being more proactive to address the bathroom and bedroom issue to increase guest comfort from the start; would recommend but not in summer

Great City B & B Close to Center & Univ

Great location, reasonable, excellent value, clean, comfy beds, ample and healthy breakfast. Helpful friendly staff. Well appointed rooms. Not much parking, but it's England. I'm definitely going back

Easy walking distance from train station and town.

Posted 03-Jul-2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable and close to town. Free wifi. Good breakfast with a lovely fresh fruit salad. Staff happy to let us leave our bags for the day.
Cons: Access to a toilet when shared bathroom in use.
Location: Town centre, University colleges, shops, canal.
Received a very warm welcome. Hotel is immaculate with very comfortable beds that weren't too hard. Combed ceiling made top floor room not quite ideal for 2 tall people! Bathroom shared between 3 rooms wasn't ideal - access to a separate toilet would have been appreciated as we had to delay going to bed while another guest had a lengthy bath.

Very disappointing and overpriced

Posted 29-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
I thought this B&B was generally disappointing. There were many issues with the room and the lack of a cooked breakfast was not at all what I have experienced in other B&B's in England. It was very overpriced and I would not stay there again. The room was not even cleaned between our first and second night.
