A no frills but decent hotel. 'Olde worlde' coaching inn building not a modern clone hotel. We booked 2 rooms, both were clean & tidy. The staff were very polite, friendly & helpful. The mattress on one bed had seen better days & that bed was pretty squeaky, but my back didn't suffer & my daughter had no problems in the other room at all. We didn't hear any other guests, although there were quite a few. The bar was quiet in the evening and the sole drinker had left before we got back from walking into the city centre for food. I had a quiet pleasant beer at one of the beer garden tables out the front when we got back. There was some road noise overnight, but we'd had to leave the windows open as the weather was so hot. Breakfast was good. The staff were happy for me to leave the car in the car park for the day that we checked out, which was ideal as we'd driven up the evening before, to spend the day wandering around the colleges. We will happily stay there again.
