“fantastic short break.”
All staff from managers to maintenance staff were helpful, friendly and always pleasant and smiling (not an easy thing when dealing with so many people!) An excellent experience in an extremely clean, well maintained hotel. Parking so close to Oxford was an added bonus and hotel meals were very good and reasonably priced.
“Oxford Spires - ideal base for central Oxford”
We used the Oxford Spires Four Pillars as our base for the Oxford Folk Festival. We have used hotels in North Oxford before, but this offered better value and a much more convenient location. There was ample car parking; the rooms were neat, clean, and comfortable; and the staff were friendly helpful, and courteous. It's only a 15 minute walk from Oxford City centre, or hop on a bus for £1 single, £1.60 return (but watch out for the different operators). The only slight grumble I have was that, although free vouchers were made available, I could not get any WiFi signal in the room, and had to make use of the free service in the lounge, hardly an inconvenience, though. Highly recommended: a hotel that does what it says on the tin, is attractive, and in a pleasant and convenient location.
“would definitely use this hotel again”
Lovely hotel in fabulous location just 10 minutes picturesque walk along the river with college to the city centre with college boathouses providing additional river entertainment on route. All members of staff very polite and friendly. Breakfast buffet of high standard with good choices of both hot and cold dishes. Overall very good experience.
“great base for oxford”
only a short walk to Christ Church and yet in the room it feels you are in tranquil countryside. Excellently organised hotel; friendly staff. Free parking is a big bonus in Oxford (other hotels charge)
“Very convenient and good value”
A great hotel if you're visiting Oxford as its an easy walk into town and plently of parking at the hotel. The room was large and cleaned well everydy. The breakfasts were also good, although can get busy. Only minor issue was the sound on the TV wasn't great.
“oxford spries four pillars hotel. Very impressed with the Hotel”
very nice hotel to have a Break at hotel services very good.
“Very helpful staff”
Good location just 15 minutes walk into town (or easy access to buses on the main road). The hotel is set down a drive in pleasant surroundings with fields with horses outside my window. Every member of staff that I spoke to was very helpful, including requests for assistance or information. This stay was for business but planning to stay next time for a weekend leisure trip.
“Enjoyable break”
Lovely Easter weekend break with views over fields with horses from our room. We were lucky enough to see a deer in the grounds, a surprise as although the hotel is in lovely surroundings it is only 20 minutes walk to the town centre. We also enjoyed the riverside walk from the rear of the hotel towards town.
“The most tranquill surroundings”
We love staying at the Oxford Spires Four Pillars. The rooms are unpretentious, very clean and comfortable, and the staff are warm and welcoming. The bar area is comfortable and in the summer the patio at the back is sunbathed. We don't bother with breakfast as it's extra and pricey but there are plenty of little cafes dotted around Oxford to keep us full until it's time to hit one of the many charismatic pubs! What makes this place special is its location near the canal. The walk into town is about 20 minutes and takes in the loveliest views through a field (horses included) and along the canal. There is always someone out training for the next boat race and tourists bobbing about in their punts to entertain!
“Very enjoyable stay”
Quiet and rural despite being 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre. Lots of free parking. The jacuzzi was very well receiving after doing the tourist bit all day.
