“good hotel”
nice hotel
“nulli secundus”
Awesome; a great hotel. Fantastic staff, a wonderful restaurant. Lovely spa and a good quality golf course too.
“hope to return in the future”
lovely hotel with a grand feel we stayed in the main house had a lovely room with fantastic view grounds are exceptional. lovely restaurant very good food and personal welcoming service. wished we were staying longer. hope to return when leisure complex finished. building work offputting as we approached but once at the hotel not seen or heard and wouldnt know there was work in progress once there. a lovely peaceful retreat. very quiet and not many people staying the night we were there which found hard to believe but that meant we were upgraded to main house which was a bonus for us and made it a very good deal thanks to expedia. we were going on a driving experience in the area and this hotel was very close by.
“Lovely country-house hotel, especially at present”
For such a reasonable rate ( including breakfast ), we were fortunate enough to stay in the main part of the house, but we do accept that this was due to remedial work going on elsewhere on the Heythrop Park site, meaning that other accommodation and leisure facilities were unavailable. Apparently, the golf course is due to re-open in September 2009, with the remainder of the complex being back on-stream in 2010. If you're looking for a country house hotel at budget motel prices, this is the right place to stay at this precise moment.
“Terrible bed, awful breakfast - otherwise great!”
Beautiful grounds and entrance lobby. wonderful health club and spa. Friendly helpful staff BUT - the most uncomfortable bed ive ever tried to sleep in - not as good as a travelodge and a stone cold cooked breakfast.
“go somewhere else”
never stayed in a hotel before where you could see the pattern of the mattress through the sheet!no valance on the bed so a very shabby utilitarian base on view. this was only slightly better than the view from our bedroom window - empty shell of concrete building and builders work yard.we would have moved but would not be able to get disabled room at such short notice.
“like staying in a dorm”
Stuck in the wing of this faded hotel - tiny room which is basic to say the least. Lovely grounds and the health club is very good.
“Not Impressed”
We were informed by Hotel reception that all standard rooms did not have baths only showers. Room descriptions misleading. These rooms eg. Shrewsbury were very small and had poor quality furnishings. Upgraded to main house room which was very large incllusive of bathroom. When we stayed there appeared to be a fly/insect problem in room lots of corpses on floor plus spent evening fly swatting as they were buzzing around the lighting. Mentioned to reception next day & they said they were aware. Poor signage to direct you to Heythrop Manor rather than sending guests direct to Crowne Plaza which links via corridors. a fantastic hotel if a little more attention was paid.
“Not impressed”
Not very impressed with the hotel which is aimed at business clientel and golfers. The supposedly hot buffet breakfast was cold and no staff around to complain to or offer a cup of coffee.
“Not value for money.”
As you will see from the photos, this is a beautiful building. But wait... that's not where you'll be staying. You'll be in the side-wing (not pictured), whose interior is vaguely reminiscent of a college dorm. The interior, harshly lit by fluorescents, is drab and lifeless and reflects nothing of the beautiful exterior. The rooms are very small, and decorated to a lower standard than Premier Inn. You'll be paying a lot for laminate headboards, polyester duvet covers, and tiny cathode-ray tube TVs with lousy reception. In short, the site is beautiful to visit, but a profoundly disappointing place in which to stay.
