“Good hotel for visiting Oxford.”
Hotel is on a direct bus route to Oxford so we left the car in the car park. This is a modern hotel with comfortable and clean rooms. Staff were friendly, polite and very helpful. Long walk to room with no lift to second floor but no noise at night from other guests or traffic.
“Visiting Oxford”
This was an ideal base to visit Oxford city - although out of town it was on a frequent bus route which took us into the city centre in 10 minutes. Oxford is very car unfriendly so this option was superb. Rooms were of very good standard with all facilities including a full size bathroom with bath. The food at breakfast had a good choice and was good - full english, continental, fruits jams cereals. The only downside was that coffee was served at the table and our waitress was not very responsive to requests for coffee - in fact served everyone else after we asked. I think this was a little game and a minor downside in an otherwise excellent stay.
“Great hotel”
A large hotel in a quiet out of town location (near motorway) with good bus links to Oxford (every 15 mins) and Woodstock/Blenheim Palace (every 30 mins). Dinner menu rather poor as it doesn't vary much from day to day - for variety visit The Trout (1 mile away in Lower Wolvercote)
“Good experience”
Booked on the Barcelo special offer price, but excellent overall experience. If visiting Oxford City centre, just take the bus and you can even walk back from the centre to the hotel if you are reasonbly fit! Good access and parking. Would stay again without hesitation.
“Good Standard”
This is a good modern hotel clean and perfectly adequate for business travellers. Breakfast was good, service was polite.
“Not recommended for a leisure break”
We booked this hotel for relaxation hoping to make good use of the spa facilities but arrived to find the swimming pool was closed due to a technical fault. We were not offered an alternative until late the second day by which time it was not convenient and were not any other compensation.Having stayed at the Bath Barcelo which was of a high standard this was disappointing.
“Oxford”
Hotel was nice although the bar a little expensive and the rooms on the snug size! Perfect location 2 minutes from the park and ride. Staff really friendly and overall would recommend this hotel.
“Oxford in Transit”
This was an ideal hotel for an overnight stay in transit and we had no particular need to visit Oxford. For people who do want to visit Oxford this hotel is about 2 miles north of the City Centre but buses and taxis should be readily available. The hotel has been refurbished since being taken over by Barcelo and is much better furnished and decorated than previously. If you can get a good deal on the internet it is well worth a stay, but I wouldn't want to pay full price - just about worth 4 stars - I would rate it 3 and a half.
“One night stop.”
Skirtings in room scuffed but otherwise fine, heating worked well and room very comfortable. Breakfast good but hot buffet sitting on servery for too long. Could do with some better bread. Handy for the number 6 bus into town. Fair value at the Expedia rate.
“Too many expenses”
I chose this hotel for convenience of location and it was lovely and the staff helpful upon check in or if we had any questions. However, I thought that it was out of order for the hotel to charge us for parking (even though it was only £3 per day). The room didn't have any standard television either. We had to pay for any music or films that we wanted to listen/watch - again this bumped up the price and privilege to stay at the hotel.
