Great, laid back & pet friendly!

I was only looking for pet friendly, but loved this hotel! Quiet location, on the sound, with room to house and walk my Great Dane pup! Caught crabs from the back deck, and even saw a dolphin swimming one morning!

Close to the nearest beach.

Posted 23-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything that they advertised was what you got.
Cons: A way of blocking out the sound late at time of the traffic (once you turned the tv off) on the road/
Location: Plenty to do in Nags Head, Manteo, Kill Devil Hills area. Great restaurants. Visit Austin Fishmarket for great seafood for lunch. Great prices.
Enjoyed my stay. Motel quiet. Pet friendly. Overlook the marina on 1 side Near the bridge to fish (if you'd brought fishing equipment), nearby Jennette Pier for great swimming.

Great hotel!

Posted 26-Jul-2014
Pros: Practically everything.
Cons: Wifi quality.
Room is like a time share hotel, I think. You get a two room area with two bathrooms. There's a kitchenette, a jetted tub, two showers, and an amazing view of the Roanoake Sound. On top of it all, this place is in prime location to all of the beach activities! If there was anything wrong with this place, the wifi isn't that great.

Isolated but we loved it.

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Pros: Location. Rear deck on the water. Dog friendly. Spacious room with full complement of appliances.
Cons: Stairs to second floor were steep.
Location: Close enough to Naggs Head to take advantage of beach & other recreation opportunities, but far enough away to avoid the worst of the traffic.
One night stay, wanting a little r&r before traveling elsewhere to a family gathering. It seemed clean, was comfortable and we were very pleased with the whole experience. Not for the raucous Nagshead crowd...just the was we like it.

Good place to stay if you aren't picky and fish

Posted 26-Jun-2014
Pros: The casual relaxed low key amenities and the back dock and seating
Cons: Fix the vending machines, but ice buckets in the rooms.
Location: Great place away from the beach tourist traps of the northern outer banks. Wonderfully close to the town of Manteo.
The reviews for Fin and Feather had me concerned, but we made reservations last minute and this was the only place available within our price range. We were much happier after checking in and would stay there again, but I'd make sure I had a downstairs room off the back facing the dock. Cons: no elevator to get to upstairs rooms, no room service or housekeeping, vending machine broken, no ice buckets for ice, many rooms face the highway (not the prettiest view). Pros: wonderful friendly staff. Comfy bed, refrigerator in room, microwave in room, free wi-fi ( when it's working) beautiful back dock for viewing the sound relaxing and fishing.

Great Getaway

Posted 23-Jun-2014
Location: Easy accèss to fishing and the national seashore.
No room keys. I called for a late check-in and they gave me the room code to enter on the door keypad...simple. Well appointed with a comfortable chair. Good experience.

Spiders and hairballs

Posted 22-Jun-2014
We arrived to a room buzzing with about 4 flies. I sat down on the bed and a big spider crawled out of the headboard onto it. My boyfriend swatted a fly on the wall onto to disturb another spider that leapt out at him from the gap between the wall and the carpet. At this point, I decided to take a shower to relax and entered the shower to find a lovely huge clump of hair on the bathtub wall. This place could have been a decent room, but was gross and insect-ridden.

smaller than shown on expedia

Posted 21-Jun-2014
Pros: Convenient location to major places, quaint, modest.
Cons: bigger bathroom, friendlier staff, more upfront about each room's layout.
Location: Conveniently located between major sights such as public beach access (Epstein), grocers, restaurants, memorials/museums, national parks.
The hotel is conveniently located between major sights such as public beach access (Epstein), Wright Brother's Memorial/Museum, Jockey's Ridge and Roanoke Island (Fort Raleigh). It is also close to major grocery stores, restaurant, and shopping. The hotel itself was quiet and right on the water/dock. The room we had was smaller than pictured on Expedia and did not have a stove as pictured (on Expedia). We did, however, have a fridge, working freezer, microwave, dishes, and eating utensils. Given that I had a food allergy, buying cooked food from the grocery store and being able to fridge and heat up the next meal, it was very convenient and affordable. At the back of the hotel is a dock for fishing and also picnic tables and benches. There is also a ramp for boats to get into and out of the water. Lastly, the hotel staff was not very friendly but also not mean; in short, we got what we needed so no complaints.

Pros: location, staff, room condition
Old motel that has been very nicely modernized. Had 2 bedroom condo (unit 12) which had a kitchen area and living room as well. 3 big screen TV's with plenty of channels and just a few steps to the sound. Very nice and helpful staff and this check-in out process was seemless being done via an email with the room key code being sent to you.
