Area recommendations

I would recommend walking towards the old part of the city of Oulu, which is over the footbridges. There you will find artisans of various types, selling their wares from the small shops, and also the oldest restaurant in Oulu, Sokeri Jussin Kievari, which serves delicious traditional Finnish fare.

“Would definitely recommend”

The Hotel and its staff exceeded our expectations and made for a very pleasant stay. Room was clean and comfortable and Hotel facilities were well up to standard. Only two minor niggles: Tea and coffee supplies in the room amounted to two sachets of each and some powdered milk; there is a night club in the basement and while we were not disturbed by noise, there was some vomit and other signs of excessive alcohol intake outside the Hotel entrance that had not been cleaned up the next day.

Area recommendations

Oulu is not a great sightseeing city in the summer. The waterfront, Town Hall and Cathedral are the only areas of archtectural merit or interest. There are museums, galleries and theatre events but most Finns seem to congregate in the bars and restaurants on the market square. There are lots of cycleways and tracks for walking around the shoreline.

“Lousy internet service”

Internet service provider was of poor quality. Was unable to send internet attachmens from inside the hotel. Very frustrating!

“Top Hotel in ruhiger, aber denoch zentraler Lage gelegen”

War zum Urlaub in Oulu gewesen und hatte mit dem Radisson Blu einen super Fang gemacht, von Anfang bis Ende war alles top! Bin auf Reisen öfters in den Radisson Häusern und kann diese auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen!!!!

Ich liebe allgemein die nordischen Länder, es es dort sehr ruhig, auch die Region Rovaniemi wo ich ebenfalls gewesen bis ist sehr schön, ob Sommer oder im kalten Winter

Finnland kann man immer bereisen, ob Sommer oder Winter, es ist immer super!!!

What to pack

Einpacken sollte man auf jeden Fall mehrere Jacken und Pulover, man soll sich in der eisigen Kälte durch mehrere Schichten von Kleidung wärmen! Auch festes,warmes Schuhwerk, Mütze und Handschuhe sind von Vorteil

“Guter Ausgangspunkt zur Erkundung”

Von außen nicht gerade nobel aussehend (wie fast alle Hotels in Finnland), aber sehr guter Service und ideale Lage zur Erkundung der Stadt. Bin ich auch des Finnischen mächtig, war ich hoch erfreut, daß an der Rezeption Deutsch gesprochen wird!

Traveller's tip

Pikisaari, die für mich schönste Insel Oulus, liegt quasi zu Füßen des Hotels. Wunderschöne Natur und karelisch-skandinavische Archtiketur sind auf der Insel überall zu finden. Herrlich. Wunderbar auch die Lage gleich am Marktplatz (Oulun tori), auf dem es im Sommer hoch her geht... Ein Ausflug nach Rovaniemi (2-3 Stunden mit der Bahn) sollte nicht fehlen!
