“Fantastic service!”

I felt like I was staying with relatives. Everyone was so friendly and extremely helpful.

Area recommendations
I don't really know the town, but The Hampton will give you a book about Ottawa.

“Love the Hampton Inn Ottawa!”

I loved our stay at the Hampton Inn. We treated ourselves to the king room with the whirlpool tub in the room, it was fabulous! We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub in the pool as well. We spent some time in the workout room. The breakfast on Sunday morning was great! We made waffles and everyone had what they wanted. My one complaint was that the second floor hallway was absolutely freezing, which was uncomfortable at all times, but especially when going back and forth between the pool or even going to get ice down the hall without a sweater on. Need to heat the hallway. the first floor was cold when we first arrived, but warmed up slightly by the evening, but not completely. I therefore have to give a 4, I admit I did not call the front desk about the issue so I do not know what the response would have been. Otherwise the stay was great!

Area recommendations
We love to shop at Farm and Fleet across the street from the hotel. Then we like to spend time at Starved Rock state park. The lodge is beautiful and we ate dinner on the veranda overlooking the Illinois river, very picturesque. The drive along the river on IL 71 is very pretty as well, the road follows the river and then winds up the canyons to be atop the bluffs and dips and winds, pretty any season of the year!
Must see
Starved Rock state park, visit the lodge, drive IL 71 from Ottawa to the state park, senic drive. Hike a trail or climb to the top of Starved Rock itself, accessible from the lower level parking by the visitor's center! Maybe a stop at the Lock and Dam visitor center on Dee Bennett Road. Lunch at Duffy's in Utica is also a neat stop.
