Even though I liked the hotel we did not have such a pleasant experience on the first 2 days. A group of Italian teenagers came and stayed up until 2am kicking and screaming some of the doors which they broke. The management allowed them to be at the pool until midnight and they were smoking, drinking, and yelling! I found that the management did not consider the remaining guests and I found that just wrong. We made 2 complaints and they changed us to a different floor level as we had our 6 years old with us. We were in the same floor level as those teenagers. After they left the hotel it was a much pleasant stay but I felt that the management failed to help everyone else as the pool is only open until 7pm and they allowed those kids in there until midnight.
Newish hotel, pleasant and helpful staff, clean and spacious rooms. Nothing to be done about the location, which is nice enough and on a main route, although the journey to the centre of Rome takes around an hour, hour and a quarter depending on waits for buses and trains. Close to a market and gelaterias, etc. A good hotel if you want good value, even if it is a remove from the sights. Ostia is about a half hour away by bus.
I chose this hotel for its closeness to Fiumiicino Airport in Rome. The room was clean and comfortable. Not large, but adequate for a few day stay. The front desk person was amazingly helpful and pleasant. The housekeeping staff was great in changing the king bed to two twins. They provided secure parking without extra charge. They offered free WiFi. Restaurants were nearby as was the beach.
I appreciate clean and comfortable and don't need a four or five star rating. La Riva satisfied my requirements. The hotel provided a tasty and adequate breakfast. I would definitely stay there again if I ever considered a return trip to Rome.
I doubt that I will ever return to Rome. It was unbelievably crowded, expensive and unpleasant. If one enjoys spending untold hours with 5000 of your closest friends, Rome is the place to go. If not, there are many other places to visit.
I lived in Europe for six years and traveled most of the continent. La Riva was a very pleasant stay in comparison to many others over the years.

We were looking for a hotel close to the airport for a wrap-up to our trip to Rome. This is a great hotel at a very reasonable price. We had two rooms, both ocean view. One had a balcony. The rooms were larger than expected and the ocean view was fantastic. The hotel is located on the strip, right across from the beach areas. They have an agreement with the private beach across the street and you get reduced fees for umbrellas and chairs. The hotel will provide you with beach towels. We were on the beach for two days. The restaurants in the area are OK, what you'd expect in a beach area, but we found one on a quite street a few blocks off the central area called il Tino, really nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

You have 3 star hotels that are a disaster and others that should be 4 star.
This is neither but it is:

Lying 31 kilometres southwest of Rome, Lido di Ostia this is Rome’s seafront. Most of the busy beach is privatised, so there is a surcharge for use and loungers and parasols. The jewel of the area is nearby Ostia Antica. The architectural site gives a fascinating insight into the everyday life of sailors, merchants and slaves dating to the fourth century B.C. It later became Ancient Rome’s port for 600 years.
