“Very convenient hotel”

“Nice hotel with great pub”

I stayed four nights at the Elite Grand Hotel Norrkoping on business. The hotel is slightly on the basic side, but it met my needs with a comfortable bed and desk and a decent bathroom with good shower and toiletries. The room was a bit small, but nicely laid out and with ample closet space. The TV worked well and the wireless internet was fast and reliable, although I had to unplug a lamp to plug in anything. Breakfast (included) was good with lots of variety of hot and cold foods. The hotel has a great pub on site, the Bishops Arms, which features many dozens (maybe hundreds) of beers from around the world. All the hotel staff was great. You can walk to downtown within 5 minutes, the same to the train station. There are some nice restaurants nearby. The tram is just outside the door. I would stay here again if I was in town.

Getting there

There are excellent train connections between Norrkoping and Stockholm, almost hourly. Also several times daily to Malmo. There are also flights connecting Norrkoping and Copenhagen. You can walk from the train station to the hotel in 5-7 minutes.

Must see

Definitely go to the "Visualization Centre C" for a look at some really good high-tech, hands on displays which will be of interest to both young and old. Area attractions also include the "Museum of Work" and the old industrial mills which have become a beautiful part of the university and city core.

“A very satisfying stay at The Elite Grand”

Great hotel. Very helpful English speaking reception staff who recommended good restaurants nearby. Good location. Good quality and variety of hot and cold buffet breakfast and plenty of it. Hotel has it's own pub serving good pub food.Transport to airport and station 10mins. away. ' Check out' at 6pm. ! which was really useful. Complimentary refreshments in lobby where there were 'take away' cups and carrier bags. Nice to have coffee and biscuits whilst waiting at the airport bus stop. A nice touch! Overall a very well run hotel with a warm and cosy chilled out atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Getting there

Easiest route from Skavska Airport is by airport coach ( Flygbussarna ) takes about an hour and costs about £21.00p open return and bookable online. Norrkoping Central. From Stockholm or Gotenburg by express train or Swebus. Norrkoping is pronounced, 'Norshoreping'

“Quiet Norrkopping”

Hotel was within walking distance of the train station. Breakfast was good. Restaurant/bar in hotel was good, a hoping place on Friday and Saturday evenings.

“The best place to stay in Norrkoping”

Nice hotel, very friendly staff who all spoke very good English, the single rooms are a little small but have everything you need, bathroom, toiletries and towels all very clean. Great buffet breakfast with hot eggs, cold meats, cereals, fruits, yoghurts, juices etc We were staying for business so was well located near the station and perfect as a base for a couple of days.

Area recommendations

The town is a mid sized industrial town which has a slightly american feel to it, low buildings, tram services etc but there is not a lot going on.

Dining

We found a great restaurant called Pappa Grappa which was extremely good by any standards - European food, un fussy, delicious and very friendly staff. I had sword fish on my second visit and it was perfect.
