“Scandic Byporten Oslo - very impressed.”
Arrived very late due to the weather - but reception was still manned by avery friendly and helpful staff member. The room was very clean, and was an excellent size. Not much of a view, but that's neither here nor there. The amenties in the hotel itself (shop, restaurant, bar) were fine. The location was very convenient - above the railway station, and only 200 metres from Karl Johans Gate. It is also just across the road from Oslo City, a multi-storey indoor shopping mall. Highly recommend the hotel for anyone wanting a good base from which to explore Oslo.
“Great localization in Oslo”
great localization - about 300m from main train/bus station; great breakfast(buffet); two computers with internet and printer by the reception; shopping centre next to the hotel; ice mashine on every floor.
“Good business hotel”
This hotel is right next to Oslo central station room was clean and tidy, Internet access is free, hotel has restaurant next door where breakfast is also served, I had evening meal and breakfast and both were excellent, would definitely use this hotel again on business in Oslo.
“Great central location”
Brilliant central location; whether you arrive by bus or train this hotel is next to both stations, and out the other side is the city centre. A stones throw from the opera house also. Only downside was that breakfast was a bit manic, at times quite hard to find a table.
“Good value in an expensive city”
Oslo is expensive - just accept it. 2 beers in the hotel bar were more than twice as expensive as the same in the US or UK. However, this hotel was one of the cheaper 3 star hotels and was great value. The room was comfortable with a decent size bathroom (shower, washbasin and WC). There was plenty of hanging space, a desk, TV and minibar. The bed was 2 small twins that latch together. Despite looking uncomfortable, they were just fine, apart from a very small, thin pillow each and no extras to be found. The room was clean, modern and stylish with everything in working order. There is WiFi in the rooms and 2 free-access PCs in the lobby. Now to the best part - breakfast. This is served in the restaurant next to the hotel and is one of the best I have had in a hotel. The choice ranged from cereal to breads, to cold meats to a full cooked breakfast. Plenty of juice, tea and coffee to choose from and it is an all you can eat buffet. When you calculate the local price for a coffee and pastry, then this inclusive breakfast was a great deal. The hotel is located next to the central station and is convenient for the city centre and all transport links. Despite being next to the station, the area is not seedy or run down and it was very safe. I would recommend this to business and leisure travellers and it is also a safe, pleasant hotel for a single person.
“No tea , no TV but excellent breakfast!”
Really convenient location but surprised no TV or safe in room given price of accomodation.. Breakfast buffet served in adjacent restaurant - best breakfast ever had when staying in hotel. Would stay there again,
“'Good hotel in convenient location'”
The hotel is very comfortable and convenient being next to Sentral Station and located within a shopping centre. The breakfast served in a separate Egon restaurant within the centre is excellent although it can get very crowded. I would certainly use this hotel again. Direct access by Express train from the airport is also an added bonus.
“A good hotel, right outside Central station”
We really liked the hotel; a shame it is spoiled by the drug dealers outside the restaurant windows.
“Good location, but 4* ???”
Hotel located in excellent position virtually in city centre....above and adjacent to Central Station and small Shopping Mall. Reception could have been better...as it was often a frustrating period of time before anyone reacted to client awaiting attention. Room small but adequate. Small bar in foyer pleasant, but prices very high! Being near to main line station, arrival back at hotel in evening necessitated walking through a range of 'stragglers' often associated with terminals.
“Friendly, clean and comfortable”
Great position for getting about Oslo, great sea views from 5th and 6th floors, staff best and most friendly I know.
