“Most impressed”
The hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff were most helpful and very friendly. The hotel is very centrally located (close to the Royal Palace, City Hall, Opera house and any number of good museums). If you are going to museums and that sort of thing I recommend the "Oslo Pass" very highly!
“Beautiful Hotel, lovely staff, great location!”
A lovely Norwegian hotel, with beautiful decor and an oldy-worldy feel. All the staff were lovely. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and plenty to fill-up with to keep you going for the day! The hotel was quiet - I wasn't aware of any noisy guests. The bathroom was clean and had full bath with shower over, and was kept well stocked with Molton Brown products, towels, tissue etc. Overall we were delighted with the hotel and will go back if we visit Oslo again
“faded elegance”
We contacted them about the overly soft mattress and the wobbly desk chair both of which made my aching back hurt even more. They did nothing in response. The chambermaid was overly zealous in moving our possessions around. For such a supposedly "elegant" hotel, the buffet was average at best.: limited selection, no herbal teas, etc.
“Will definitely return!”
I can't be laudatory enough about the Continental Hotel. The service, location, and size of the rooms were outstanding. Then we went to breakfast and were blown away by the fantastic smorgasbord. Again not only was the service outstanding, but the quality and array of food was out-of-this-world and delicious!
“first choice on return to Oslo”
Our flights to and from Oslo both ahead of schedule. The airport express(Flytog) took less than 25 minutes to centre of Oslo alighting at the National threater station some 5 minutes from the Continental hotel. The hotel is of the classic style. The service was excelent, friendly but not intrusive. The decor throughout was to a very high standard, every where clean, tidy and wel caredfor. Our room was of the same high standard. The buffet breakfast hot and cold was the best I have had in Norway. The hotel is very conviently located for Karl Johans Gater,The royal palace, parliament, the Harbour and Akers Brygge. On the doorstep you have trams, buses, tube and mainline trains for exploring further afield. The reception staff could not have been more thorough and helpful with the problems of air flights and volcanic ash..
“Not a 5 star experience”
Very definitely not a 5 star hotel. Moved rooms 3 times in the first 20 minutes The first had a double bed instead of twin beds as requested. The second, a drab chintzy room over looking the courtyard, was sadly in need of an update. Building work was in progress and there was scaffolding covering the window. . Finally given two single rooms overlooking office blocks and cafes in Olav V ‘s gate. Small, modern furniture, wooden floor. Molton Brown toiletries but no bathrobe or slippers . The small double bed was comfortable but strangely had a single duvet . On Friday and Saturday night there was a noisy disco somewhere underneath the hotel and the music vibrated up the walls. The lobby bar didn’t serve tea, or anything else, after 11.00pm so had to have room service. Grumpy waiter told us at 10.55 that the kitchen was already closed for hot drinks. The ‘business centre’ was a tiny , airless closet . Breakfast was good but not 5 star and the tables in the breakfast room were small and cramped. On the plus side the location was great, and the reception staff charming.
“Would not go back”
good location. The hotel itsef is not cozy, is overpriced; room was not convinient; breakfast was not that good either. I picked up another hotel for my next visit to Oslo
“Excellent centrally located hotel in Oslo”
Oslo is a beautiful city and this is the perfect location from which to explore on foot. The staff are friendly and eager to accomodate, the rooms were very clean and well-appointed, and the breakfast is the best we had in Norway. Easily reached from the airport with the airport express train, which is fast and reliable on schedule. The hotel is easy walking distance from the National Theatre stop. Also located within in the hotel is the landmark Theatre Cafe which has excellent food.
“Defficient Front Desk Service”
Comfortable hotel, great central location, 2 minute walk from train station. The restaurant (Theatercafeen) was excellent. However, the front desk service left much to be desired: a friend of mine was told that we had not checked in when she asked in person at the reception even though we were already there, and it took us 15 minutes to check out as apparently the person at the front desk was not familiar with how to process a credit card payment.
“Sehr angenehmes Hotel”
