“very good breakfast”
For the stardard in europe this hotel was good in general
“Comfortable Hotel”
This is a nicely kept hotel, with helpful desk employees. We are a married couple, 62 and 64 years old; younger travellers might find the neighbourhood a bit quiet - perfect for us. About a 10 minute walk from the central train station. Kathleen.
“very good!”
When considered its price , it's extremely OK! Room was very clean; stuff was friendly and polite: breakfast was really good with big space.
“Best for its cheap price”
It is really cheaper compared to other comfortable hotels, for the cheap price I paid for one night, it was cozy, clean and comfortable with helpfull staff.
“Below average hotel in a sketchy neighbourhood”
We were disappointed with the Anker Hotel. We trust Internet reviews to select a hotel. This time they were misleading. We do not expect a 5-star hotel at a 3-star price, but it was far from what we've found in other major cities in Scandinavia for a similar cost. The room was very small and none of the usual amenities were provided; no clock, no drawers, no mini-bar or fridge, no coffee maker, no in-room mini-safe, and no ice machine on the floor. The wireless Internet is good when it works, but there was a prolonged interruption of over 24 hours. The deadbolt on the room door wouldn't work. There is a hostel and low rent apartments next door, and it is noisy at night. We were there in mid-June and some nights were hot and stuffy (no A/C.) If you leave the window open, you can't sleep due to the noise. It is not really centrally located, but there is tram car service to the city centre near the front door. It is not located if a safe area, and especially at night, the streets are rife with pick-pockets, drug dealers and prostitutes. The breakfast is adequate, but not great. On the positive side the the bed is comfortable. The front desk staff are polite and helpful, but they can't make up for the deficiencies of the rooms and the hotel location. This hotel may be OK if you are just spending a single night in Oslo, but if you are going to be there any longer, find another hotel. We will not come back to the Anker Hotel, and we do not recommend it to others.
“Nice comfortable hotel”
Some renovation works are still visible but it doesn't bother me one bit. My room was a double and very spacious and the rate is quite reasonable for Oslo's. B/fast is continental but rather bland and you need to go further up Storgata to look for substitutes.
“Satisfactory Overall”
Water supply issue was annoying! Otherwise, comfortable overall.
“Oslo 2010”
A good clean hotel, relatively new. Very convenient location with trams right outside although if you are staying in Oslo, no need for public transportation as walking around is great. Many restaurants close by as well as hotel's own. Breakfast was excellent. A good find.
“Oslo in one day”
Floor where we were put was being refurbished. Painting and electrical work was being done on the floor. Room was neat and clean. Beds in all of Europe are not comfortable and this was no exception. Breakfast was included and was very nice but the room where it was served was like a cafeteria. Hotel is convenient to the train station which allows use of bullet train to/from to airport and to train departures to the rest of Norway. Did not experience street noise reported by other guests and our room faced the front of the hotel. I've stayed in worse hotels but this is one to which I would not take my bride on our honeymoon.
“Average accommodation remote to tourist areas in Oslo.”
Good value. Difficult to reach at night w/o unbelievably expensive taxi from Oslo Central train station. Great breakfast buffet w. excellent roomy facilities. Excellent internet access in room w/o extra charge.
