“No worries!”
The Swissotel was a good base from which to explore Osaka and beyond. You literally walk straight out of the Nankai Namba Station (not the JR Namba station) and into the Swissotel (you can't, cannot, will not get lost if you catch the right train). Walking the kilometres of underground and above ground shopping malls and restaurants will keep you busy. Don't forget to visit Kyoto and Himeji Castle in addition to Osaka Castle. The Swissotel staff responded to all our requests, including posting our postcards. They were very helpful with infotmation. However, one problem exists all over Japan - the coffee cups are tiny, so bring your own. The Max Value supermarket is a handy 8 to 10 mins away (get a map and directions from the Swissotel staff). And don't forget to request a non-smoking room if you are a non-smoker - this is critical in Japan.
“Large room and convenient location”
The hotel was in an excellent location in Osaka right above the Namba Metro Station. We only stayed one night but the hotel took our luggage and met us at the station with our luggage for the rapid express train to Kansai for our flight out of Japan (excellent service from the hotel at the end of a trip). The room was very large and slept 3 people easily. The staff at concierge were helpful with information, maps and things to do! Would definately stay here again if visiting Osaka!
“Great hotel in fantastic location for central Osaka”
It was slightly confusing finding the hotel entrance from the very large and seemingly complex station. Once we were experienced we were navagating the station and hotel much easier. The staff were very friendly and helpful for our attempts at communication using English. The rooms were quite large from what we understand of typical Japanese rooms. No complaints, very happy.Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
“excellent city hotel”
Our only criticism was the old fashioned access to internet and email compared to all other hotels we stayed at. Access to wifi was OK BUT not everyone carries a computer with them when just touring. So to have to ask the concierge to unlock the business centre, boot up a PC then charge for TEN MINUTES was very old hat. Just abput every other hotel had free access to a PC provided one did not hog it for games etc. (don't provide seating !!)
“Highly recomended”
From the start of your stay you are met by extremly curtious staff, the hotel couldnt be in a better position for transportation, and the comfort and cleanliness can not be faulted.Would definetly use again
“Great and Friendly Hotel and Staff”
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It was one of the most friendly and best hotel I have stayed at, to date. The staff was always ready to help with any of our questions. On the first night we arrived, we were wandering around the place looking lost and a friendly staff came up to us and asked us if we needed help. The best part was the hotel was located on top of the subway and walking distance to many main attractions. As we had only limited time in Japan, this was of great value for us. Everyday the room attendant would place a card on our bed advising us what the weather forecast would be the next day. I felt this was a nice gesture. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Not Impressed”
It is a very nice and convenient hotel. Unfortunately, there was a group of young travelers in the rooms around me who partied and banged doors from 19:00 to 7:00 a.m. When I called the front desk three times no on responded. When I mentioned it as I checked out the front desk clerk said "we will put you in a quieter room next time." There was no sympathy or offer of compensation. The subsequent message from the front desk manager was similar in tone. It is a basic rule in the hospitality industry to compensate clients/guests who have been really inconvenienced. I really wonder about the current management. It used to be managed in a more personable, friendly and reponsive manner.
“Great Hotel, Great Location”
Excellent hotel. Booked it on recommendations of other users. All of the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful with all of my questions and local places to visit. The hotel literally sits on top of the railway station so train/rail travel is extremely easy and convenient. The hotel is also situated in a great place in Osaka. Not knowing any Japanese, this hotel was a great place to stay. Also, if you email the hotel ahead of time they have information about the bus that goes directly to the hotel. The room was small but that's the norm in Japan. It was very clean though and more than enough room. ONLY COMPLAINT was the lack of free Internet in the hotel. It was ridiculously expensive to buy and I couldn't easily find any free WiFi nearby. Beside that one drawback the overall experience was great. I really recommend the hotel.
“A winner”
Great Hotel, excellent location and facilities. A bit hard to find from the subway, but be patient.
“Awesome location”
Superb hotel located on top of Namba station with great access to Midosuji subway line, Nankai train line, and multiple restaurants and shops. Located right next to Namba Parks shopping complex and Takashimaya department store, it has to be one of the premier places to stay close to the best shopping. The hotel is well-maintained, with great staff, modern decor and moderate sized rooms.
