“In the middle of all the action”
The hotel is easily accessible from both the Namba subway & JR station via the underground shopping arcades. We were travelling to Osaka on the Shinkansen from Kyoto. The hotel entrance is in the middle of an entertainment arcade on the ground level and easy to miss if you don't have the map. We were initially apprehensive as you take the life to the 2nd floor reception, but after checking in and being shown to our 4th floor rooms on the same level as the outdoor sitting area with massive fountain we were delighted. Our room (2 couples) were next door to each other with easy access to the outdoor table & chairs inside our picket fence. The rooms were spacious and clean with free internet access and flat screen TV's. There were plenty of eateries and bars just outside the hotel and even a English pub on the 2nd floor, serving food & beer. It is close to all the markets & street life and we would stay there again. Just don't take the lift to the lower ground floor as it opens into a Pachinko hall and the sound is deafening and makes me wonder if people are not going slowly deaf.
“Good location”
Room was of decent size. The lift really smelt very badly of smoke, as pointed out by other reviewers. But luckily the room fared much better. The free Internet was a great help. Breakfast not included but there were so many restaurants around the hotel anyway.
“Hope the price doesn't go up any more...”
This hotel has A/C! That is pretty important since Osaka in the summer is horribly hot! Comfortable, Convenient, spacious & still a pretty good deal. It was a great deal when I stayed in December... Maybe more folks are taking notice. If the price doesn't go any higher, I will stay there again.
“Central location but very difficult to get to...not on auto serviceable road access”
The hotel is located off any major taxi or access road...in the middle of a shopping arcade mall and on the third floor...so getting luggage in and out is not easy. Taxi has to drop you and you walk a few hundred meters. They did take my luggage to the bus terminal when I did check out, which I appreciated. Rooms are a bit small, but comfortable and the hotel itself is very nice, with good reception and a pleasant terrace for coffee or drinks. Location is very central to eateries, etc.
“Very helpful staff”
Excellent location, very close to one of the main subway stations. Lots of restaurants close by. The staff was extremely helpful and I felt they went out of the way to get me information I needed.
“Best Location in Osaka”
You can't gt more downtown than this hotel. Right in the middle of everything. Close to the main station for subway, trains and buses. Much bigger than your typical Japanese hotel room. Worth the price.
“Great Value, Great Location”
This hotel is clean and conveniently located near shopping, food, and transportation. I would stay here again.
“Great place to stay. Convenience, comfort & value.”
The front desk clerk who helped me at check-in did not speak much English, but since the forms were written in both Japanese & English, it was quite easy. I didn't see a bellboy so I had to carry my own bags. The room was a decent size by Japanese hotel standards. I requested a room with a Queen sized bed. The bed was a bit smaller than an American Queen. The rest of the room was great. Sofa, TV with CNN, bath tub & the bathroom had all the amenities. The Cleaning staff replenished all the supplies daily. For the duration of my stay, I was never bothered by any of the staff. The location was perfect. There were a number of restaurants (15+) a minute or less walking distance from the hotel. There was also a convenience store right next to the hotel entrance. If I go back to Osaka, I will definitely stay at the Namba Oriental Hotel.
